Checkin - excellent, parking- very handy, room- lovely but would prefer not to climb in/out of a bathtub to shower, no handrails so bit unsafe, room facilities- great, plenty of room. Food & service in the restaurant was top notch, only thing that lets this place down is the accessibility from reception to restaurant for mobility challenged persons. The lift opens near kids games room but to get to restaurant there are still stairs to climb up/down unless you go outside in the rain.

We have stayed twice now. The hotel is quite dated now but the room was clean and tidy. They have been partially renovated but very tastefully. We did not try the restaurant but the pool was great on a sizzling hot Australia Day. The beach is not the best in area

We stayed in a room on Level 2. The room was huge and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was very old fashioned, looks like something you find in a motel rather than a resort. We had no dramas with the air conditioning but our friend who stayed on Level 4 complaint the air conditioning was always on full blast and could not be adjusted. Overall a comfortable stay and the reception staffs were very nice.

I was very cautious when booking Opal Cove due to some of the reviews, although I needn’t have worried as our family had an absolutely fantastic time. The resort is a little dated, but that didn’t detract from our enjoyment, I particularly loved the beautiful tree-lined driveway leading up to the resort from the main road. There is so much to do for families, from the swimming pool with a slide, a separate spa as well as a pool bar in the afternoons serving food, drinks and ice-creams (we didn’t even need to leave our lounges as they come around and serve you!). There’s a mini golf area, a games area and as we were there over Christmas, evening movies with inexpensive pop corn and choc tops. Being a bit older, our kids could go off and do their own thing and were always very safe. We booked one of the villas and the one we were given was fantastic, really clean and modern and for the price, given cost of living at the moment, it was great value for money. The food and drinks in the restaurant were always great and we particularly enjoyed happy hour from 5 pm, I’m not sure I’ve ever had drinks as cheap as this while on holidays. Most of the staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful (yes, we did run into a couple of unfriendly and unhelpful people), and a special shout out to the lovely lady who served me and made me a coffee each morning, she is an absolute asset to your team (sorry I didn’t get her name). Our visit to Opal Cove was great value for money and with direct flights on Qantas Link we’ll definitely come back again.

It's heartening to know that the dated appearance did not hinder your enjoyment, and the family-friendly amenities, from the pool with a slide to the evening movies, added to the overall positive experience. It's especially rewarding to hear about the exceptional service you received from our staff and we'll make sure to pass on the special shout-out to the lovely lady who made your mornings brighter. Not sure how this place gets any star ratings. The only thing good about this place is the sound of the ocean. Its tired and in need of a good clean. Reception: Huge with no atmosphere, no bar to relax in. The bar downstairs is more a like pool side bar. Room: Smelt of mold, carpet was sticky, bathroom old and mold around the bath, behind the toilet was filthy. Balcony had cigarette buts on in. Restaurant: Food was OK, certainly not good. Had to order from and pay at the counter, I get that from a pub bistro, although not a restaurant as its promoted on their site. Bar: No appealing at all. It needs a good clean, the floor is absolutely filthy, looks like the grease had been there for years. Bar taps had flies all over them. Bar server was crouched against the wall on the filthy floor eating chips, then gets up (with attitude) to serve, without washing his hands. no thanks we walked away. If you are disabled or physically challenged, you are not welcome at this property. The walk to car park would be a challenge, no disabled parking close by. So many steps to tackle. You also get charged $1 on your credit card, imagine for every room they check in they get an extra $1, over time that adds up. I would not recommend this property not would I return.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Evelyn94. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced during your visit. We value every guest's opinion and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Regarding accessibility, we regret any inconvenience caused. While our disabled car park is a few steps away, we understand the challenges it may pose. We're committed to improving our facilities and will explore options to enhance accessibility for all our guests. In response to your comments about our dining experience, we offer both a Brasserie and À la Carte menu and we regret if our ordering process did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable and we will review our procedures to ensure a more seamless experience for our patrons. Concerning the $1 charge, we want to clarify that it's a pre-authorisation and not an additional fee. This is a common industry practice to secure reservations and is automatically released after a short period. We take cleanliness and hygiene seriously and we apologise for any lapses you observed. Your observations will be shared with our team to address and rectify the issues immediately. We genuinely appreciate your insights as they guide us in our continuous efforts to improve. We hope you reconsider and give us another opportunity to provide you with a more positive experience in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

We did not stay at the resort but went to the restaurant for a lunch that was supposed to be a family celebration. We had chosen the Opal Cove as we wanted to go somewhere a bit special, but what we experienced was a fairly tired looking resort, in need of some renovation and a little bit of passion. Our lunch was a disappointing affair, being told we could only select from the first two pages of the menu, we were left to choose from a range of burgers and salads. The food was ok but not inspiring and we left feeling disappointed that we had chosen this venue. We certainly would not return to this resort on any basis in the future.

First the good, staff are friendly and accommodating. Free face painting for children in the afternoon was nice. Food in restaurant is tasty (albeit expensive), pool is nice, bit needs renovating. Rooms are comfortable, but again, need updating. Now the not so good. Air con is set to freezing, we had to keep our door open to the 33 degree weather to mix with the freezing aircon to balance out. No option to control temperature or turn off aircon. We had to put extra blanket on our 5 year old daughter during the night as it was freezing. Rooms & bathroom haven't been touched in 10+ years, we stayed here about 11 years ago and all looks exactly the same and tired and dated Lobby is large and nice, but all that space is just weird and again looking very tired. Pool has tiles chipping and paint peeling everywhere. You can see where the pool bar used to be and is just rusting away and looking very sad Location is quite a bit out of town, you either have to eat at the restaurant (food is nice but very expensive) get uber eats, or drive 20 minutes into town. We thought a BBQ might have been a nice option, you need coins to operate (very 1990s) and it was very dirty and not inviting. On the way back from the BBQ we noticed a very old and dated golf putt putt course and some tennis courts falling apart. This place has so much potential, we really did expect a lot more for the price paid to stay here. Please renovate and then we'll certainly be back. Until then, we will find other places to stay in the area

This resort is nothing like the pictures advertised. It is tired looking & needs a lot of renovating and a lot of cleaning. On arrival to the room, the scanner on the door fell off, the safe in the room did not work (apparently in other rooms too) the bathroom must be 20 or 30 years old & never been upgraded. The mattress was very thin & you could feel the springs. The lounge needed a good shampoo. The patio door had a very flimsy lock on it, easily accessed. The A/C is set on cold in summer & hot in winter, there’s no in-between 🤷‍♀️ There’s no USB connections Reception staff informed us there was one in the back of the TV which took forever to charge 10% 🙄 We paid for an ocean view room, yes the view was lovely. The restaurant was in desperate need of a clean. On entering, the piano had a film of thick dust all over it & the glass topped tables were in need of a clean under the glass. The food was very ordinary & expensive for what you got. The staff were unfriendly & u happy. All in all it was a 2-star resort at 4-star rates. Would never stay there again & would never recommend.

First stayed in 2010 for an over nighter - stayed this time for the oztag comp. Definitely not a resort. Restaurant food quality & furnishes meets minimal standards. Rooms are extremely dated. Bathrooms are very old. Since 2010, I observed no updates to the rooms. Beds are flat & hollow - very much like an old motel style. Requested late checkout (by one & a half hours due to scheduled games). Manager was unfriendly & advised no flexibility but offered to store our bags instead. She was trying to solve a problem we didn’t have. Perhaps a little flexibility would have been a nice & humanly thing to do.
