We had a lovely roast beef lunch followed by sticky toffee pudding with gingerbread ice cream and brûléed banana bread all outstanding, nice beer and wine too. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. COVID 19 rules are in place and they work really well. Highly recommend a visit once second lockdown is over, best wishes in these difficult times to all the staff.

I stayed at the Brown Horse with my sister. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and this continued throughout our stay. Our room was warm, clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice. We also had dinner in the restaurant twice and enjoyed our meal there. I would definitely recommend staying at the Brown Horse. The friendliness of the staff was striking and it was lovely to come up north again!

We stopped here on our first night in the Lakes and what a wonderful find. Fabulous food, welcoming staff and a great menu/wine list. Highly recommended. We were travelling by Motorhome and they even let us park for the evening.

We have been coming to the wonderful Brown horse inn every year for around 20 years, however this time we really felt that the quality of food, service and COVID safety measurements were outstanding. Altogether we had: kids sausage and chips, kids fish and chips, (which were polished off very quickly!) and 3 of the Sunday Roast Sirloins of beef. The beef was just gorgeous!!! It was perfectly cooked and very tender, lots of mmmmms and Yums from our table!!! We then had sticky toffee pudding, a banana bread with marscapone and pecans(this was to die for!) and chocolate ice cream. We were thoroughly impressed with every part, we also enjoyed a pint or two of their local ales and a very nice Winster Apple crumble. Well done to all at the Brown horse, you should all be very proud of this amazing place. A big thank you to the lovely blonde lady who gave me some great advice about my back pain!!!! :) Definitely worth a visit, but please book to avoid disappointment!!!!!

We had booked an overnight stay here for a hiking trip. Our hike of the day ended up taking us much longer than we thought so we were over an hour late fork our dinner booking, we arrived looking very bedraggled and they had squeezed us in. Food was incredible, such good quality, well presented food and great beer. Then we announced we still needed to check into our room but nothing was too much for the staff, every single one was so helpful and friendly. The room was large, clean, with a very comfy bed. Breakfast was amazing, so much on offer, and the waitor very kindly gave me double serving of coffee on request. A checkout time of 11am was also much appreciated. Amazing stay, thank you!
