This beautiful old castle has been back breakingly restored by Anne & her family after she apparently bought it on first sight from the road! Have a look at the photos & you will appreciate how far this has come in the last 14 years, simply amazing. Anyway, that is just the half of it, the family are wonderful but...

Exceptional, extraordinary, fantastic, amazing, stunning, lovely, remarkable, outstanding... I could go on but I would only be scratching the surface, and it still wouldn't begin to describe how truly special this château is. If I could I would give it a rating of 11 out of 5. The house, it's history, the grounds, and the proprietors and their family all...

My stay in this veritable French Chateau was fantastic -- a fairyland experience. The ambiance and the coziness of being surrounded by elegant French antiques was a dream. The owner is a most interesting and charming lady. The surounding countryside is truly lovely. Its nearness to Figeac and Rocamadour is definitely a plus. I am ready to return in the...

I had the pleasure to be a guest in this chateau for a dinner in May 2012. In an ideal landscape, this perfectly renovated chateau is truly breathtaking. The landlord-lady is warmhearted and makes your stay unforgettable. Inside you find spacious rooms & original decoration all over the place. I will truly travel there again.

A highlight of our visit to southwestern France was a visit to Château de Bessonies. Though we didn't stay overnight in the charming "chambres d’hôtes" guest rooms (we will next time!) we were priviliged to sample Anne's outstanding cooking at dinner. We toured the château, which Anne painstakingly restored from desolation to splendor over many years, and would highly recommend...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Chateau de Bessonies, a delightful fairytale castle in southwest France, is a 16th century stronghold set within a rolling landscape of farms and majestic forests. Guests will be charmed by the romantic scenery, the tranquility and the joie de vivre. Situated in the ancient kingdom of Quercy, near the Dordogne river, the medieval city of Figeac and the sanctuaries of Conques and Rocamadour, the chateau is a restored masterpiece with five elegant guest rooms. Proprietors regularly host “degustations de vins” (wine tastings) with vintners from estates in Cahors, Bergerac and Marcillac, as well as classes on making foie gras à la quercynoise. The Chateau is also available for weddings, with a chapel conveniently located on the grounds, and can be rented in its entirety by the week. ... more   less
