Hopefully, the non-boat-going customer will consider this a thorough review. We found this place via TripAdvisor and thought the location a safe place to stay on the Atlantic Coast. The hotel does not have a reception desk, and the young man working the desk was distracted by other matters for the first 10 minutes I was there. I had a...

Sailed from Houston to Shelter Bay. ARC was racing around the world, so it was crowded and busy. The Marina staff was helpful and quick to respond to requests for boat travelers. Really got nicer once the 40 boats and 250 crew members headed out thru the Panama Canal. Best shower facilities in the Caribbean! Did not go upstairs to...

Shelter Bay is a fabulous hidden treasure! From March 2013 - July 2013 the managers and staff took care of my fellow colleagues and me to whatever extent we needed. The food at the restaurant was top-notch. The regular menu was fabulous, definitely the most filling gourmet food I've ever had. The daily specials were unique, well thought out and...

Having had oru yacht on the hard for 18th months, we had no choice but to seek accomadation while we worked on her. Chris was the answer!! We were looked after like family and the chefs Marcia and Damian catered for all my needs due to the fact of my seafood fish allergy. Nothing was a problem for them. Bless...

We arrived late at the marina after our canal transit and ready for a celebratory dinner. Chris, The Dock's manager, did yeoman’s work despite the short notice and arranged a special, full-course meal for us aboard. The grilled salad was the best I've had in years, the octopus was stunning and my wife raved about the chicken and shrimp entre....

Sailing from Tortola, BVI to Lima, Peru, we stayed here for five days waiting for clearance to transit the canal. I must say we were treated like family! The marina, hotel and restaurant/bar staff were top notch and took great care to ensure all of our needs were met and (most importantly) we stayed safe in an unfamiliar area. Customs...

The hotel and restaurant are next to the marina, so the place is filled with friendly and casual boat people. While I do not know about the hotel itself, the restaurant is a great place to relax, with a very generous Happy Hour (rum drinks are $2, local beer is $1) and really tasty food. The kitchen can get backed...

My husband and I along with his crew have stayed at Shelter bay hotel and have dined at the restaurant many a times. Each time Chris Young (General Manager) and his staff have treated us with the most respect and kindness. Our rooms are always clean and the swimming pool was at the perfect temp. The food at the marina...

Food and service were excellent. The staff is very friendly and helfpful. Great hike to San Lorenzo Castle from the hotel. About 12 miles round trip. Lots to see and do. It seems like there is a party every night with the people from the yachts. Great swiming pool if you don't want to walk to the beach. There are...
