The Anantara Villa Padierna is often celebrated for its luxurious atmosphere and elegant decor, nestled in a location that guests find simply stunning. Many travelers commend the hotel's cleanliness and the luxurious amenities, including the spa, golf courses, and pools. However, guests' opinions on service vary, with some applauding the professionalism and others pointing out instances of slow and disorganized service.
While the rooms are generally admired for their luxury and views, noise and allocation issues have been mentioned. Despite the praise for the amenities and location, several guests feel the value is diminished by costly extras and underwhelming dining options.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel, formerly a Ritz Carlton, is simply stunning. It occupies an elevated setting between Estepona & Marbella & is surrounded by three utterly pristine golf courses. It has an historical air but is actually only 17 years old, modelled on a lavish Tuscan palace with its ornate Italianate decoration & manicured landscaping. There’s even an amphitheatre! It is very tastefully done & chock full of fine, original artworks. The outdoor pool, fringed by palms & towering cypress trees is as beautiful as any I’ve seen. Our Deluxe Terrace Room was also a stunner, gracefully & luxuriously decorated with gorgeous views over the hills. We’re rather partial to a late night film but surprisingly the TV did not have movies. There was very little info about the hotel in-room & we weren’t offered a tour on arrival which would have been useful given the extent of the grounds & services. This may have been a Covid issue as our stay was early into the hotels’ reopening & paper literature had been removed, with menus viewed via QR code. The lack of information really niggled at first but once acclimatised we really fell in love with the place. The hotel has several restaurants but only one was open during our stay. Food was delicious & service top notch. The staff are terrific. We didn’t use it, but the spa is mega & the receptionist very helpful & beautifully turned out. The gym is well equipped but didn’t open til midday which was rather odd, but again, a Covid thing. The racquet club is situated about 5 minutes by shuttle downhill from the hotel, as is the Beach Club, which was yet to open. Tennis courts are €20 an hour including racquet hire but you have to buy or bring your own balls. Yep - that blasted Covid again!
A wonderful & very memorable stay.

This continues as my favourite hotel in the Marbella area and we always come here as first choice but it is not perfect. It is dog friendly unfortunately, with animals in the breakfast area, restaurant and pool area. Not acceptable to me. Personally I hate the idea of them being in bedrooms that we might be allocated.
Breakfast is served outdoors, which is great and relaxing but the vacated tables need clearing much more rapidly as the wild birds arrive to feast on the remains. We wonder if the bread baskets are washed after these events or just refilled. In the bar the beer selection needs improvement, with only Cruz-Campo offered as the principle beer, much more selection is needed. Restaurant offers a good range of superb food, fabulously cooked and presented. It is worth coming here for the experience rather than nearby restaurants. The staff are superb and well trained. Good but simple wine list.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your last stay in our property. It is a pleasure for us to read that we are your favorite hotel in Marbella, and we are delighted you liked our restaurants, our breakfast and our staff, we truly appreciate it. We are sorry to hear that we did not fully meet your expectations regarding allowing small dogs in the resort. We continuously strive to meet all of our guest´s needs and expectations and allow dogs on our property up to 5kg, however they are not allowed inside the restaurants. Please rest assured that we have very strict hygienic, cleaning processes both in the rooms and as well during breakfast. Thank you for your constructive feedback regarding our beer selection, we will continue to improve on that. We just added a local, handcrafted beer called Catarina and hope you would like to try it during your next stay. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly should you visit Marbella; it will be my pleasure to assist you and make sure your experience will be truly positive and memorable. Warm regards, Jorge Manzur General Manager j.manzur@anantara-hotels.com

Stayed here over Feb half term and can’t fault the hotel. The reception staff, concierge, valet, waiters … the whole team couldn’t do enough for us. A true 5 star experience.
The hotel was themed beautifully for valentines with red roses and flowers throughout.
We arrived to champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries in our room on the first night to kick start our honeymoon.
Breakfast buffet was extensive with incredible jamon and plenty of hot options available a la carte too.
Breakfast starts at 7.30 but on checkout we needed to leave by then so they arranged a tray to be brought out into the atrium with a selection of breads, meats, cheeses, tea coffee and juice so we had something before we left for the airport. Very impressed with this level of service.
Restaurant food is expensive but worth it.
Beach club is a must visit … we had the seafood tower starter and then didn’t need a main!
The spa treatments were divine though the indoor heated pool is too cold and the water jets not very strong.
Things I wish I’d known..
There is a Nespresso machine in the room (not just instant coffee as stated on the website) so I didn’t need to take my cafetière!!
There is no ice machine but if you ask at reception or in Eddy’s bar they will give you some if you want to have a cold drink in your room
The minibars are empty right now due to Covid so lots of space if you want to BYO!
The shelf in the shower is tiny so bring travel size products!
Pull up to the front for valet parking service (we parked ourselves on first night not realising)
Spa only opens at 11am so bear this in mind when planning day trips (gym is open 24 hrs)
All in all … nothing detracted from an incredible experience. Thank you to all the staff there for making it so memorable. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful hotel with 3 golf courses, but in a 5 star hotel service is essential. The rooms are very nice, fully equipped except for a scale. Amenities and decor is outstanding. Wifi all over. Spa and swimming pool (not heated) very nice and well equipped. The property has also a beach side location at 5 minutes served with a free shuttle ride. Two noteworthy restaurants Club 99 (japanese) perfect but expensive, La Loggia under a porch, good Spanish food. Breakfast ok…during Covid time. Personnel in general friendly. Hardly anyone speaks decent english.
We where in a 2 bedroom suite (503/504) for 4 nights.
Now the negative notes: arrival at 12 (even tough the hotel claims that their Covid policy is foreseeing the room empty for 24 hours between guest and check out policy is at 12) the room was not ready. Only at 15 the room was ready but… a golf cart (needed as the room is away in the property) left with the luggage leaving us in the porch at 34 Celsius. After a while someone from reception realized that we had been left there alone and took care of us.
In the room no LHW welcome and letter as per the LHW standards.
Day 2: we want to go to the beach but we discover that is only open from 11. Why???? I am at a beach side resort and honestly I want to go from the early morning. Shuttle Bus with 9 seats leaves hotel at 11.00 de facto leaving a number of guests (including us) waiting for 20 or more minutes.
Day 3: our room keys where disabled (at 15.15 with 31 Celsius) we had to walk under the sun for more than 300 meters 3 times) no explanation.
Same day evening at the La Loggia restaurant pity full service: we arrived at 20. The personnel obviously understaffed was unable to even take care of the most basic services including serving bread and wine. All and I mean all the tables where disappointed. We asked for the manager and took him 20 minutes to arrive (without a business card) He couldn’t speak English.
We hinted that the type of service received shouldn’t be worth the bill and honestly at the end the staff is so embarrassed that after many sincere apologies the dinner was offered. By then it was 23.25. (For two appetizers and a dessert).
Lastly earlier we asked for a scale as next day we where leaving and wanted to wait our luggages and the scale never shoved up.
All of the above is to say that apart from a friendly staff, smiling even when they know the client is upset and recognizing that they have plenty of improvement to be made (and the staff claims that they already suggested to the management (such as beach club hours)), I pretend from a 5 star hotel charging what they charge an outstanding service, this experience at times felt as if we where on candid camera

We had a fabulous 3 day stay - a last minute change of plan when the Kempinski closed down 3 days before we arrived.
The hotel is a couple of kms back from the shoreline surrounded by 3 golf courses, but you dont have to be golfers to enjoy it here.
The safety and hygiene regulations are obeyed to the letter - during these Covid19 times we never felt anything other than safe and secure.
Our room was ready on arrival and we were upgraded to a balcony suite room. The room was marvellous, with many great touches and attention to detail.
Staff were attentive and friendly at all times, breakfast was served a la carte and was a real delight.
If you want a luxury hotel stay that rises above the standards set elsewhere in this area, then you will enjoy your stay here.

Our stay at the Anantara Villa Padierna was one of our first trips abroad since the pandemic hit and we couldn't have chosen a better location. One of the reasons we chose it was because of the indoor pool and Spa, given that the weather in February could be changeable. However, we were blessed with gorgeous sunshine throughout our stay!
The hotel is impressive. Stunning grounds and picture perfect at every corner. The staff and service were exemplary... really warm genuine hospitality and nothing was too much trouble.
We were really impressed with the quality of the food and beverage, from breakfast through to dinner. The outdoor terrace in the Loggia is really the best place to have lunch, overlooking the golf course and the sea in the distance.
Our room was something else - a suite with a terrace which was almost twice the size of the room, complete with sun loungers, making it the perfect place to soak up the afternoon rays. The spacious bathroom was also impressive, lovely Ortigia toiletries, a double sink, walk in shower and a fulll size bath.
Its a shame that the outdoor pool isnt heated, but it didn't stop us, and others, from relaxing there in the sun, but using the indoor pool for swimming. The Spa is very special with a selection of steam rooms and saunas.
The location was also perfect for us - a short drive to Estepona, Benahavis or Marbella, so we were able to enjoy the mountains and the sea.

This is the first time in my life I visit a 5 star hotel that has no value for its customers! The stuff are very rude, specially the ones at the parking area.
Today I had the worst experience and it was not the first time unfortunately, the first time I visited the hotel to go to the Japanese restaurant ( 99 sushi bar ) first I went to the valet service to park my car, the valet guy asked me to go park my car by myself which is horrible, one the parking is too far and two my wife is wearing high heels shoe, as the restaurant and the place is fancy and considered 5 star. When I complained as I paying not less then €1000 for dinner and I have to park my car by self and pay the parking because it’s not for free. For me it’s not about the money as much as it’s about the service, I will pay you for the valet to park my car but I am not going to park my car by myself and pay for a parking and pay at the hotel restaurants, that is just ridicules.
Today was my second visit so I immediately went to park my car by myself as I expected no one will park the car or there is no valet service for this 5 star hotel which is shocking! When I was going down a car almost drove over us and the guy was complaining and screaming at us for passing through inside this tight parking area he was driving fast and no one cares. We go up to get out and leave normally it’s a drive through area to pay the parking fee and leave. But this time a guy from the hotel standing and telling everyone to park the car again and get down to pay the ticket and then go to the car and leave. If that is organized I won’t mind it but between me standing to pay the ticket to leave and the cars that are passing not more then 20 CM someone can literally run over us by his car which is unsafe at all, there was a lot of cars going out at the same time and some people are driving really fast, someone could been hit, and no one at the hotel stuff cares to make it safer for us while paying. And It would be much easier if as normal people pay while they are in their car or a machine somewhere easier and in a safer place for people to walk to not in the middle of the cars passing through!
This is such a horrible hotel service and experience, paying so much at the restaurant and paying so much for the parking area, and getting this horrible service it’s so so so bad and I will never go again or recommend anyone to stay at the hotel or go to any of its restaurants, if this the way the hotel treats its visitors!
REALLY BAD!

+1
This is a large, beautifully maintained property with many facilities. We were initially concerned that it might be too crowded especially since it was peak season but that was not the case at all.
Check-in and check-out was very efficient and the front desk team was helpful. We have to commend Carlota's exceptional customer service skills. We were not fully satisfied with the room originally allocated to us and upon letting her know she promptly worked on getting us a better room. She took the time to show us 2 alternative rooms and let us decide which one suited us better. We were there for 3 nights/4 days so we very much appreciated her doing this. The room we stayed in was a Junior Suite and it was very spacious, with a large balcony and bathroom.
In terms of facilities: Huge swimming pool with various depths and plenty of sunbeds. The spa is huge with an indoor pool, hammam, various steam rooms, saunas and a beautiful relaxing area. All of which guests can use for free. The hotel also has its own beach club which has a nice restaurant and lots of sunbeds and cabanas. It's a 10 min drive on the shuttle provided by the hotel. We played golf on the Flamingos course and it was a really nice, well maintained course.
Breakfast has an extensive selection. We had dinner at the beach club restaurant and the food and service was great.
Valet parking is available for EUR18/day. Given the room rates I feel it's a bit petty to charge for this (other resorts provide it for free) but not a huge issue as the valet team was very efficient. They should let guests know upfront though about the valet parking fee.
Days after checking out, there was an issue with my GHA points and Natalia from the front desk was very helpful in getting it resolved promptly.
We were originally going to stay at Nobu but got concerned about the reviews saying how noisy it was. We are happy to have booked at Anantara instead as it was not only relaxing but the whole team was very focused on ensuring their guests had a great experience.

Lovely hotel, quiet location away from the main roads that run all along the coast. 3 golf courses around the hotel.
We were upgraded from a junior suite to a suite - very nice, but this would be an issue in the warmer months as no balcony or terrace. Outdoor pool is not heated.
We had booked a half board stay not realising this limited us to where we ate and which menu we received. In La loggia we had a set menu not a La carte. Food was ok, desserts were the same 4 choices every night. We ate at the beach restaurant for lunch instead of dinner, but we were charged for the lunch when apparently we were entitled to an allowance.
2 rounds of golf were charged as 3, champagne for cava, premium beer instead of the ones we received, parking 15 euros/day. G&T’s are 20 euros. At the time of review still awaiting our 200 euros refund for being overcharged.
We enjoyed our stay, but the hotel needs to sort the charging out.

I saw kids there when I was there myself - so no reason why you can't visit with children. Not sure about the beach - but the hotel does cater to children.
