Detailed Reviews
Elaine and Steve make you feel right at home from the moment you first step into this wonderful B&B to the moment you leave. The guest rooms offer a great view of the valley. The beds are comfortable and each room has its own private bathroom. Guests can start their day in the guests' living room, and enjoy a cup of coffee, read, watch the fireplace, or enjoy more of the view.
Breakfasts here are not skimpy! Juice, coffee, and two courses are offered. Over our numerous visits, we have savored Elaine's special homemade granola, wonderful waffles, crisp bacon, frittatas, etc. All while chatting with the owners.
A great place to stay!

We took our two adult children with us on a summer weekend getaway and were thrilled to find a hidden gem in the mountains. The rooms suited us perfectly, including one with twin beds and double sinks and the other with a Jacuzzi. We loved the decor, comfort and beautiful view from the large windows and patios. We walked the paths around the grounds that provide direct access to the Bruce Trail and include a lovely pond with weeping willows and mountains as the backdrop.
Elaine and Steve could not have been more accommodating, ensuring our comfort was their priority. Breakfast was wonderful and of course the dining room also included an amazing view.
Wish we could live there.

We recently stayed at Avalon Clearview Studio B&B for 2 nights while hiking the Blue Mountain section of the Bruce Trail. Steve and Elaine are expert B&B hosts. They have thought of everything a guest would need/want to make their stay comfortable. We stayed in the Provence room which was beautifully decorated. It had a private patio with a stunning view of the sunrise and the fall colours. There is a cozy sitting room in the common area where guests can again enjoy the view, watch television or choose from an extensive selection of movies or simply relax with a cup of tea. Breakfasts were delicious and ample. As Bruce Trail hikers we appreciated the fact that Steve provided a shuttle service to our hike start point. We would highly recommend this B&B. We would stay again when visiting the area whether for hiking or even snow shoeing in the winter.

Well, what a B&B!!! We were well fed, well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and the rooms are all well designed to provide a spectacular view of the valley - if only the mist would stay away (next time we hope we will be luckier with the weather). The very filling breakfasts were so tasty and included all the necessary vitamins and antioxidants to keep us going on our hikes. Steve and Elaine are wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed our conversations with Steve as we scarfed down our breakfast.
The B&B was right beside a couple of the Bruce Trails paths and close to some neighbouring towns - so convenient. Steve also provided us with a lot of helpful hints about the Bruce trail and we were able to enjoy some beautiful views of the escarpment.
Thank you both for a wonderful stay and hope to see you again!

My wife and I stayed in the English Rose Room for one night as we were in the area for a wedding at the ski resort just down the highway.
Steve & Elaine were incredible hosts and we bonded very quickly with similar interests and experiences.
The grounds are spectacular and as it was the fall, the colors were fabulous.
Gourmet breakfast was delicious and set us up for our drive back home.
We hope to return next summer to enjoy some motorcycle touring in the area as the roads are full of twisties.
Thank-you for the hospitality!

Steve & Elaine are wonderful hosts; they made our 5 day walk on the Bruce Trail much more enjoyable: starting us off each day with a hearty, tasty breakfast; packing delicious lunches for us; providing transportation to our starting point each day; listening to our (mis)adventures each night. I cannot recommend them highly enough! And what an amazing vista! Thanks Steve & Elaine - till next time!

This was my third stay at the Avalon. The first two times were in mid summer during the Elvis Festival in Collingwood. My girlfriend and I stayed over the weekend and really enjoyed our time with Steve and Elaine. From the delicious breakfasts each morning, to the tray of coffee and coca cola, the hosts provided excellent, friendly service.
This past visit was our celebration of our first year anniversary, and once again we were warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The accommodations were stellar and the setting was tranquil and very scenic.
I would recommend this B&B to anyone, couples, groups of friends, or families. It would be perfect during the ski season as well. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay!

We stayed in the English Rose room for the Spartan weekend at Highlands Nordic (conveniently about a 3 minute drive from the B&B). Checked in late on Friday (got lost, dont try and use Apple Maps... it will take you to 124 Simcoe Street, Essa, ON - and that’s definitely not the same place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) - Steve and Elaine were incredible accommodating when we called to report our nav error.
House is beautiful! Steve had decorated the house with his own artisinal stained glass, and there is exposed oak finishings. Classic B&B styling. Doggos are adorable! Grounds are gorgeous. There is patio furniture and a little paddle boat on the pond for guests. Breakfast was delicious, hot breakfast with cold options; pancakes and sausage with great coffee and OJ. Not your standard toast and cereal experience.
We checked out in the morning from the room, but the hosts went above and beyond! BF ran the beast and was super dirty when he was done. They allowed us to come back and use the room to scrub him down after checkout. Really above and beyond.
100% would recommend this for a quiet weekend, beautiful views, gorgeous landscaping, and quick access to Lake Huron/Collingwood Area. We’d love to make it an annual stay!

The Avalon has a lovely setting overlooking a willow fringed pond and the distant ski hills of Devils Glen. The B&B is situated on the bottom walk out floor level of the house. It has stunning stain glass front doors created, designed and made by the owner. The entire house is very artisitically created and decorated in a French Country theme. Even the view is reminiscent of a Cezanne painting! All rooms have a view of the pond and mountains. The morning sunrise was especially beautiful with the mist and clouds in the mountains. Their is side parking and a side entrance. All bedrooms can sleep 2 and have their own bathrooms and locked doors. There is a common sitting TV room area complete with videos. You will have use of a refrigerator and dryer on the guest floor. We were very pleased to have to have to separate twin beds in our room called the Tuscany. A bonus was having fresh coffee delivered to the common room in the early morning. So thoughtful and desperately needed. To top it off we were treated to homebaked chocolate cookies. Just yummy! The place is just spotless and the showers are hot. The hosts Steve and Elaine bend over backwards to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was elegant and well plated and delicious. Steve was able to be our Trail Angel to our hiking locations on the Bruce. Such a relief to know we did not need to double back on the trial and we could continue our trek north. The Blue Mountain Bruce Trail Club is lacking volunteers to be commit to being Trail Angels. Steve was our Angel for a very reasonable fee. The trails that are on the property are well looked after and groomed. We have no complaints of our stay and would recommend this B&B to our friends and family. It was just fantastic!
