Detailed Reviews
Booked two rooms for elderly mother & I. Attending funeral next day. Travelled 6 hours to get there. Helpful and relaxed reception staff on arrival, felt like country hospitality. Staff helped with luggage to to room. Great parking arrangement. Rooms spot on, clean & very comfortable. Late check out no problem. Had a lovely dinner & breakfast at Sandstone cafe (attached restaurant). Not overpriced which is a welcome change travelling to Sydney area and we experienced a happy restaurant and kitchen.. staff were fantastic, even upon arrival of Essential Energy staff from intrastate who arrived to repair power supply in North Sydney due to storms. An outstanding accommodation venue in every aspect and well worth the 6 hour drive. Also situated in a nice neighbourhood and a de-stressed environment, particularly for us country folk! Thank you Miramare and well done!

+1
When you first arrive into the property it is quiet confusing with least oint of signage but even then it was like a mase to find the reception as you needed to drive through a long driveway with beautiful green lawn and gardens then through their events guest parking lot before you xome up a ramp to the front reception which is hidden behind the front Cafe. Front counter staff were amazing, are checking in quiet entertaining and were just lovely. He was quiet helpful in letting us know of other venues in the area we could eat at. Rooms were quite basic but so daym comfortable! Had to king bed that was more like a super king, had myself, daughter (8) and son (20) and was so spacious. Cafe served up tasty breakfast and lunch for us, reasonable decent pricing and room rates I could not argue as it matched what it offered. There is nothing else to offer to the property as there is no gym, pool or really anything else but they beautiful luscious garden for events. Their lawn was so soft one could easily just lay on it snd sleep like the puffiness of it I have never felt before. Perhaps not heel shoe friendly and honest the lawn and gardens are that clean you could walk on I bare foot and your feet will love you.

We stayed at Miramare Gardens for two nights, as we were attending an onsite wedding. The location was very tranquil, and only 20 minutes from the beach. The rooms were very clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the Sandstone cafe served great coffee and breakfast.
Miramare Gardens was a great base to explore the nearby national park (West Head Lookout was definitely worth the drive) and the northern beaches.

Very unimpressed. . Paid $450 for the privilege of a very basic twin room , completely overpriced and taking advantage of being located at function centre , mini bar fridge not working so couldn’t get a cold drink or use , ironing board broken and million years old , lamp shades askew , walked in room hot and stuffy on a hot day no thought about putting air conditioning on even though arrival Time was communicated . And reception closed at 5 pm . Terrible , one of the worst and most overpriced rooms I’ve stayed in recently . Should have just got an Uber home.

BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE! My partner and I booked to stay at this place but had to cancel our booking due to change in circumstances. The lady was quite rude, abrupt and had no customer service at all. Will never ever book to stay here and will be telling everyone I speak to about the horrible experience we had.

We stayed at this hotel in September for a family event. The hotel rooms were adequate with plenty of space. The only really obvious lack of cleanliness was one extremely dirty desk chair which should be removed. Very tacky.
We had dinner in the cafe and I do not recommend this venue. Most meals were inedible. Tasteless and disgusting to look at.

We held a two day corporate event with over 40 participants and my experience with the events manager was absolutely terrible and she was equally horrible to my team.
The staff moved equipment around so loud, during our workshop we couldn't hear our discussion. When we politely asked whether they could be softer the events manager stormed in and pointed her finger repeatedly at my team, shouting "what is a your problem?!"
This may be a popular wedding venue but in my view not suited for corporate events.
I give them a 1 star because of their complete lack professionalism.
Update 21 Feb: I posted the above review 9.15pm of the first day. Can you believe hotel management read it and at 10pm and threatened to not allow us back into the room unless I deleted my post? I have never heard of this before. They were threatening to lock out 40 senior leaders of a global organisation for one Facebook post.
The cap things off, the next day the owner came up to my team and said "I know your organisation. I know your big boss. Next time I talk to him, I will mention you were here..." #wtf
It's almost funny if it weren't so tragic. I would advise to stay away from this place.

Would you stay at a hotel where the manager says you can have a shower but the beds are dirty from previous guests?
My wife has to flee the hotel at 3am terrified by a group of hotel guests and the manager not only showed no compassion but was rude and insulting.
I have never left a bad review as I believe that all businesses have the right to remedy issues directly with their customers, however I have no other option in this case. The manager, Emre, at this hotel has no right dealing with the public, particular in hospitality.
On the 8th of Feb, 2018 my wife and I checked in to Checkers for one night. At check in, Emre was abrupt and rude however we got the key and went to the room. The room was clean by then, no problems there, however it was at the front on the car park, which is floodlit, and the curtains did not close all the way so people could see into the room.
Unfortunately I had to leave around 11 to fetch a sick child, my wife stayed. At approximately midnight there were a group of young people running around the hotel screaming and knocking on doors, including hers. As a woman travelling alone this was very frightening so the police were called and they drove by. When they left the kids resumed, terrorising the entire complex, including repeatedly knocking on her room door. As a woman alone and not knowing who these people were she was terrified for her safety, she ran to the car and fled at 3 am. The disturbance continued until 5 am.
These things happen, it is the way a hotel handles the situation that is important. The hotel had booked a large group of unsupervised school children from China. Which in itself is concerning that they were not supervised properly.
The next morning, Deb at reception was very understanding and concerned. I have to say she handles the situation superbly. She apologised and told my wife she would get a refund or another night free of charge.
On 10 Feb 2018 we called and subsequently went to the hotel to speak to the manager Emre. He did not listen, he did not apologise and he refused to honour the offer of compensation (apart from 20% off of a higher rate). At one point he accused me of being rude and said he would not talk to me. He spouted excuse after excuse and at one point he even joined one of his staff to the phone call and interrogated her while we were listening. He refused to provide contact details of the owning company (Miramare Gardens PTY Ltd ATF The Miramare), I hope that this review makes it to the head office so that they have the opportunity to review this appalling experience and have a chance to rectify the situation.
I have to note here are other very nice staff at this hotel however the Manager, Emre, has no customer service skills and should not deal with customers.
In any business it is the people that work for you that define your brand and reputation. In this instance Emre has done significant damage to what is a nice hotel. I hope this helps other travellers and trust that the Office of Fair trading will listen and act more than the manager of Miramare Gardens/Checkers.

My partner and I stayed here for three nights in December and based on our experience, we won't be returning.
The positives of this property are that it is reasonably new, and has been well maintained ... and for anyone who needs accommodation and is attending a function at the attached conference/event centre, its probably a good choice.
And it is those hotel guests that make it a bad choice for everyone else.
We had two (out of three) sleepless nights as a result of wedding guests (who made up almost the entire patronage of the hotel) returning from the attached function centre in a highly intoxicated state .... who thought it would be a good idea to continue their event in the corridor outside our room. Men and women alike, they were noisy, rowdy and even held an impromptu game of cricket in the corridor.
When I complained about the problem the next day, the hotel manager suggested that I should have called him to abate the issue (there is no onsite management at night). I was incredulous: this would have involved me getting dressed, walking through an intoxicated crowd, catching the lift downstairs to the *unattended* front desk to obtain the emergency phone number ... and then make the call. I would have then had to pass back through the same crowd ... what was he thinking..?
Furthermore, the manager also thought that there would be no further problem and therefore had no intention of addressing the issue. Had I not insisted that I be given a room right at the end of the corridor (I was previously located near the lift, in the middle part of the building), I would have endured the same problem on the second night ... when there was still noise, albeit from a second wedding party, however thankfully not as acute (as I'd moved room).
Clearly event management is the core business of this hotel, and as such, it beggars belief that they have not had this issue before. It is inexcusable that they have not put in place the procedures to manage it ... such as redirect the reception phone to a mobile, have remote video surveillance of the corridors etc. As the building has been there for a few years, issues such as these should have already been encountered and appropriate steps put in place to avoid them.
To top it off, when I checked out, I got stung a credit card surcharge - there was no signage to indicate this and nor was I offered the chance to pay cash (they take a credit card authorisation upon checkin).
The management of this property might to a great job of running events like weddings and conferences, but in my experience they were clueless on how a 4-star hotel should be operated.
If you're after a good nights sleep ... and not a night long party ... stay elsewhere.

Was in the area for work and needed a place to stay. Very tidy, clean and quiet accommodation. Its a tad remote, so if you are looking for a plethora of dining options, there's the Miramare and the tavern down the road. Room service food was of a very high quality - steak arrived as ordered (rare - which is rare to actually get a hotel steak done to your specifications). Great sized bed and ver comfy. Highly recommend it if you are looking for something away from the hustle and bustle

No they don't from my memory either. Be conscious of access to taxi's in this area. I had terrible trouble - if you have a car though a drive to the beach would be perfect! :)
