Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Re my stay the 3rd January 2020- 5th January, but had to leave on morning of 4th January due to fires being close to my house.
Bathroom facilities were really unclean and poorly maintained window in room unable to be opened, air cond not adequate did not cool down, no linen supplied also had to leave early because of the bush fires but no comment on a refund as left early
The place is only fair would not be staying there again andrecommending others to not stay there
I was in one of your bunk rooms. In this room there was no sheets and no towels and not one thing was done about it as the girl said there was. No rooms left to give me. I departed early due to fires being close to our home. Again not a thing was said about refund, as they said if done through booking.com you can’t get a refund the this was the girls words. So yes we did see about these things but you did nothing. So not our fault at all, also a email was sent to you after I left and had spoken to reception about refund for night never stayed. Will you rectify these things as the right thing was done in telling reception in all aspects. No wonder everyone does a bad review for you

Response from eaglehawkparkACT, Manager at Eaglehawk Park Canberra
Responded 20 Jan 2020
Lindsay, We had 500 people stay over that period and the vast majority were happy. We fundamentally disagree with your comments on linen. We wouldn't refuse people linen. Someone would lose their job over that. We cannot comment on the bathroom as it is shared so the person before you may have been particularly untidy. Apologies for that. In regards to a refund it is normal practice to refund in circumstances where someone cancels and gives the facility enough time to fill the room. The day before is not enough. In addition, it is not up to the receptionist to offer the refunds. This is only up to the manager. Furthermore, you booked via a 3rd party site so the receptionist was correct in pointing you to them. Management in nearly all cases will offer refunds if a guest had a negative experience or had to leave early for genuine reasons. In this case, you chose to slander our business online before relaying your experience directly to us and email asking for a refund. The damage done is greater than the messy bathroom. Regards, Management

We were looking for some fairly general caravan location for a couple of days near Canberra. This park had quite a few spaces when we arrived after having been booked out a day before. The sites are very level, but fairly close to one another. The roadway isn’t real wide, and when your caravan is around 8 metered long, it necessitated putting the from wheels of the car up on the opposite footpath. OK for us as there was no one opposite, but could have been pretty awkward if the site was full.
The amenities were nearby but sadly the male shower/toilet block was rather smelly when I checked it out. The place is certainly not new, and looks like it could do with a bit of an upgrade. I paid $40 for the first night and when I asked for a second night I was charged $45 for the second night. Don’t know why.
It is easy to find the park, just a few kilometres north of Canberra City. It’s ok if you need power and water. No dump, point, had to use the normal toilet to empty the cassette. Only 1 washing machine working and a couple of dryers, the others were out of order.
If you can’t stay in EPIC in town, this is an option, at $40 it’s the same price. I wouldn’t particularly pick out this park as a holiday destination.
I will add it is very close to a great pub if you want a good meal, and cheap fuel just up the road.

During our 6 day stay there was no room cleaning or attention to any other detail. The rooms need upgrading to make accommodation bearable. There is no furniture meaning cases rest on the floor. Nothing has changed for 10 years. There was nothing in the unit to enable us to sweep the floor or clean the bathroom floors. Price of $120 per night was way above the value. Double bed only, ever again

Just stayed here with 150 students plus teachers; it wasn’t perfect but the staff were helpful and obliging, which is uncommon when you’re a school group- you’re often made to feel like a thorn in their side, rather than proper guests. Students didn’t love the dinner of fish and chips and salad but breakfast was great: students could mix and match hot food (hash browns, bacon, eggs, spaghetti) plus toast plus cereal and juice; they all left happy and sated.
Unlike other venues that I’ve stayed at in Canberra, they delivered our lunches to us, fresh. I’d told my students that we’d be getting an apple and a sandwich; instead we got crisps and a pasta salad! The pasta salad even had freshly grated Parmesan, WOW. If you’re wondering why I’m harping on about the food then you’ve never taken 150 hungry kids on camp...
I’d happily stay here again. There were some maintenance issues but at the end of the day, my students were happy so I was happy PLUS they were amazingly flexible with timing, which I’ve never experienced before. I raised the maintenance issues, so I reckon that they’ll be fixed. The new (?) owners want to do this right. Would recommend to school groups

I brought a class of Year 6 students to Canberra for school camp from North Queensland. We stayed at Eaglehawk Holiday Park. Our stay was terrific. Kim, the manager, was very accommodating and helpful during our trip. The kitchen staff were friendly and there was plenty of food for the children to have 2nds. The meals were delicious and the lunch packs packed to take each day were very filling. The rooms are bunk style and the heating works well. Having a room with a large tv and dvd player made it easy to entertain children each night with a movie night. Happy to come back again each year for school camp. Thanks Kim!

Dear Gerardw700, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. I have passed on your review to the entire team, and needless to say, we are all thrilled that you and your group had a wonderful stay at the park. We were very happy to have you stay at the park. After the quiet of the last few years, having school groups come back is a welcome sight for us. We are highly satisfied to hear that yourself and the children were well fed, it is our rule to ensure no school groups that book with us leave hungry. We look forward to welcoming you back with another school group! Regards, The Team of Eaglehawk Park Canberra

We went there on a school camp I went as a parent helper, and it was not a great experience firstly there was green stuff all over the sink, and it was NOT cleaning products 🤮 the bunk beds the kids slept in felt like they were about to fall over! I could hear the bunk beds creaking from across the hall, another thing I did not like about the camp is that the meals were very limited the options for lunch was either chicken or beef and lots of students, parents and teachers did not like the options and ended up not eating, they also served tree nuts in the carrot cake when they most likely knew quite a few student's, teachers and parents were deathly allergic!
The cabin showers run out of hot water so quickly it was horrible!
When we got there the camp staff let us know that the rooms were prone to rats 🐀 it was so disgusting 🤢 would not recommend!

This review is a bit out of date, but I booked into the Eaglehawk Park about 5 years ago. I've written the review because others have made negative comments about the management. On that trip, I was travelling alone, a woman with two dogs in a campervan. When I set up camp, I discovered that the electricity in my van was faulty. I decided to go and stay in the carpark beside my daughter's apartment block so I drove off and camped there overnight instead. I forgot to mention this to Eaglehawk's office as I had already paid for my stay. What impressed me was that Eaglehawk Park tracked me down to check that I was OK. They were caring enough to make sure that one of their guests, a single woman, was safe. I was impressed by their concern and I will never forget it. Thank you

Budget accommodation if you have a car as this is at least 20 minutes from the city centre. Great and friendly staff. Units are old and average but did see management are making improvements. Can't complain with the room service either as units are serviced weekly for longer stays. Probably need to fix some of the laundry units to avoid inconvenience.

We stayed in a cottage with carport. $180 a night so not cheap. TV not working as the connection broken and hanging by the TV when we went into the room. Was told could not fix and no other cabins available despite the Park appeared to be barely half full. Tea Towel was filthy and took straight back and given another. Couch old and did not seem clean. Air conditioner and fan worked well and good kitchenette. Close walk to good meals at hotel.

We had same cabin as 2yrs ago and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to see that the cabin has been updated - new fridge, curtains & bedding.
Cabin was clean, staff were friendly & we had no big issues & would stay again.
It is handy to have Tavern & service station out front.
