It’s been over 6 months since we visited Vanuatu and yet every time our kids see a plane overhead they ask if it’s going to Kwakea! Our week with Brett left such an impression on our family, so many special memories!

I’ve got to admit, when my husband first suggested visiting Kwakea with our two daughters (7 and 4) I did wonder whether it was the right choice for young kids, or whether the focus would be on spear fishing and bat hunting, but it was AMAZING! The beauty of having the island to ourselves, meant we could design our ideal week: from snorkelling and swimming in waterfalls, to collecting pippies and catching yabbies on home made ‘rods’. Meeting the local coconut crabs, night diving for lobster, tagging turtles, weaving baskets, footy with the local kids, helping to make local delicacies, and visiting the local island village of Mota. There was just SO MUCH TO DO!

Brett is a fantastic host, hands on and very available to arrange whatever you want to do. Our girls took to him very quickly, and loved roaming free around the island helping him with the animals. Having grown up in Vanuatu, Brett has such a wealth of local knowledge, which really adds to the experience.

We will be back!

Words will never do this place justice.

Our week on Kwakea Island was everything I could have dreamed of & gave our family so many gifts that will stay with us for a lifetime.

Barefoot wandering all week & days spent connecting with nature. It grounded and refocused us to what’s really important in life, something that is easily forgotten in modern family madness of sports and schedules.

Playing with guinea pigs, cracking coconuts to feed the pigs, visiting the chickens, making hermit grab hotels & leisurely island strolls filled our days - and that’s when we weren’t out on the water.

Spearfishing, daily trolling on the boat, snorkeling, visiting stunning waterfalls, turtle tagging, dolphin spotting, surfing, night lobster hunting - the list goes on.

But Kwakea Island would not be what it is without the passion and love it receives from the owner, Brett. Nothing was too big or small for Brett who went out of his way to share his love of this beautiful part of the world with our family. Patiently answering the million questions our kids had, teaching them how to fish and showing them all the fascinating intricacies of the island & this untouched part of the world.

The food was simple but super fresh and delicious, accommodation rustic but everything you could need and the staff were beautiful. We will never forget the sunset afternoons ringing with laughter as our children, staff & local kids played volleyball, jumped waves together and had the time of their lives.

Thank you for having us, Brett. Kwakea will always hold a special place in my heart.

Rach, John, Freddy (12), Alice (10), Charlie (8) & Johnny (2).

Hands down one of the best weeks of our lives. Brett and his team are so welcoming, helpful, kind and really made us all feel at home. Our kids had an absolute blast and still talk about Kwakea daily! We'd go back in a heartbeat. The island itself is so beautiful and we enjoyed roaming around, hunting, fishing, learning from the local staff, all the water activities and more! Take me back!

When I went to Kwakea I had one of the best, most genuine holidays I've ever been on. Brett is a world class host and each day was filled with a new adventure depending on what we wanted to do. Whilst on the island we went fishing, canoeing, hiking, lobster diving, hunting and even surfed the private reef break out front.

The facilities are incredible for somewhere so remote, and there's power available throughout the site as well as warm water and comfy beds.

I'd visit again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely amazing, we could not ask for a better holiday. A small boat ride over to Kwakea Island made it feel extra special. Picturesque to the point where you will pinch yourself when you arrive and every day.
Brett went out if his way to organise and arrange activies for our visit to be perfect for our family (kids 8,7). From spearfishing, waterfalls, to turtle conservation we all learned so much and had so much fun. So safe for the kids. The kids can explore without limitations and so can you. Your own island for a week to explore, relax or filled full of extra activities that are available. Food that is absolutely delicious leaving you wanting more even tho you are so full.
The best holiday we have ever had. You will not regret it!
