After a long drive from Canberra, check-in was well handled and we were allocated a ground floor room. Rooms in Ibis Budget hotels are very basic... Small TV, was basin in main room and shower and toilet in a very basic 'capsule' that is raised up so older people need to be careful getting in and out.
Hotel is reasonably close to local shops, pubs and restaurants.
We were told breakfast was available from 7am, but we waited until 7.15 and no-one appeared. So we left and were on our way again.

Great location, few decent pubs and restaurants around,
Helpful staff, comfy beds. Plenty of parking. It's pretty quiet for the location (near the M1)

Couple of issues we've had which is not related to the staff.

1) The room could do with an extra chair & table. (Eating dinner on your lap in bed is not the best option)

We only found out towards the end of our stay that we could eat downstairs in the area breakfast would be served. - Would have preferred to know this before arriving, but I think this is an issue ibis management need to communicate.

2) Due to COVID the rooms aren't being serviced unless you ask for this to be done.
This wasn't an issue as we ended up using the laundromat to dry our towels. However, would have been nice to be warned in advance.

3) There is no breakfast due to COVID. This isnt an issue as there are a few cafes and restaurants about. (If you're desperate for a coffee, McDonalds is near by)

Couple of tips
1) Place a towel on the floor of the bathroom floor, the metal step from the bathroom is a bit of a risk, so use extreme care as you leave the shower.

2) the shower head isn't designed for tall folks, so prepare to bend down to wash your hair.

3) Ask for an extra pillow. There is only one pillow per side of the bed, which can be a bugger if youre used to sleeping with 2 X pillows.

Other than that, a pretty good stay.

We needed a cheap overnight stay while on the road. The room was clean, basic, quiet and had a very comfortable bed. Bathroom was a capsule type Ibis bathroom with plenty of hot water and little room to move. The young lady on the reception desk was delighful and very helpful. Top marks to Ibis for employing her.
The room was basic budget and value for money.

We booked into this motel expecting budget but this it’s not worth it!

We were only given a towel, no face washes or bath mat. There were only one conditioner and shampoo for us to use. The Wifi is extremely slow. Only one stool was available so one of us had to eat our meals either on the bed or on the floor and the power points in our rooms were next to the sink when they should have been one on each side of the bed. When we got here the toilet lid was broken.

The rooms are tiny m partner had to move side ways to get around the bed because it so close to the wall. This also ment we couldn’t move our big suitcases from infront of the door which was annoying cos the door opens inwards and the suitcases block off the bathroom door also the bathroom is really tiny, with no sink and mirror in there so you have to brush your teeth and blow dry your hair in the kitchen area. When you have a shower be aware the water pressure is to fast and hard. I nearly slipped over trying to get out of the shower because the water goes everywhere and there is a silver metal step that gets slippery when wet. If you are a bigger person I would recommend you go somewhere else as the bathroom is to small for my partner to use. I won’t recommend this motel it’s not worth it! Bye ibis! We will not be returning.

We arrived back at our room late afternoon to find no housekeeping had been done and wet towels in the bathroom.

A compliant to reception resulted in them telling us they no longer do housekeeping during guests stay. Followed by a vague "it's the law" and " it's covid".

Probably best to only stay here one night or just book somewhere else.

Otherwise rooms are clean but small and like many budget ibis hotels the bathroom had a habit of flooding the room.

Not a place we will come back to.

This is definitely about managing your expectations. It's a cheap hotel and you're going to get the bare minimum, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean, so I got what I expected. Points off for the AC not working, and some people might be a bit put off by the room design (the sink isn't in the same place as the toilet and shower). Whilst I get that you can't just rearrange a room to make things fit better, I do wish there was soap set up at the sink, not just at the shower, to make washing hands a bit easier. Other than that, it was reasonably quiet despite the hotel being full, which was welcome (though if you're on the side facing the road, you will get a bit of traffic noise). Useful if you're looking for somewhere to stay on a budget.

It had all the basic things we needed, and it was close to Wallsend Village where you can get some food and other basic necesseties.

The room though could use some more cleaning as I saw stains on the airconditioner grills, and dust on the bathroom vent.

Regarding the breakfast, when I checked in, the frontdesk staff said there was breakfast at 7am for $10. However, there was neither anyone at the frontdesk nor anyone at the pantry area when we got there at 7am the next day. The staff might have just forgotten there was no breakfast that day, I wasn't able to ask since we checked out before the frontdesk opened.

I booked in on the 17th Febuary and was given my key, went straight out to grab something to eat, upon returning key got me in the front door but wouldnt open the room door. I phoned the mobile number from reception and the girl came pretty quickly and fixed the problem, Battery had gone flat in the door opener. I walked in and the room was filthy and unmade up, bed had been slept in, towels on the floor, leftover food and milk in the fridge, garbage not emptied. Being tired I just slept on the top cover, I certainly wont be booking in again without first checking my room to see if its made up.

I completely understand that cleaning is paramount but the over use of Glen 20 is overpowering. It is used everywhere in the hotel to the point I could not breath. I was unable to stay there. The next hotel I was able to go to was $40 more than this one.Not happy.
Please remember that toxic chemicals can caused to major allergic reactions - I am lucky I did not end up in hospital. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here for the foreseeable future.

If you don't want to sleep, PICK this hotel, No tea coffee etc. No shampoo's, Reception guy said due to Corona Virus no tea coffe etc & no Breakfast of any kind available. I said -is any available and he gave me a brown paper back with the Basic's (very poor) In this bag was paper cups, icecream sticks for spoons, I don't think he would of given me this if I didn't ask. HE was good in giving us directions for a nice place to have dinner. Otherwise Very POOR service. Would not recommend this place to anyone. We hardly sleep as the Road noise was over the top. Left early as we were awake nearly all night.
PS we stayed elsewhere on our return - Dinner sets, cutlery, Breakfast to our room. Tea Coffe with real cups, Bathroom bits n pieces. HUGE difference between the 2 places.
