Mudgee's boutique corner pub. Beloved by locals and visitors alike, the Paragon Hotel is one of Mudgee’s most popular pubs, famous for its delicious food, ice cold beer, local wine list and cocktails, and cosy “country pub” atmosphere. Under new management, you will still find the same classic pub favourites and genuine country hospitality the Paragon Hotel has become renowned for. Talking about the food - just ask the locals: the Paragon Hotel is definitely home to Mudgee’s best pub food. The kitchen team is well-known for rolling out mouth-watering burgers, pizzas, steaks, share plates and more, along with weekly specials, built around fresh local produce and ingredients. Their lunch menu offers a hearty pub feed for workers and visitors and the daily special offers ensures there’s always a reason to visit. The weekly members’ draw, held every Thursday night, offers a cash jackpot for regular Paragon Hotel punters (it’s free to join!), along with meat tray raffles.

Detailed Reviews
We hadn’t been here since the change of ownership.
The steak was cooked as ordered, the salad fresh and the chips were on the plate next to the food, not under the food as often happens, were crispy.
Unfortunately the bar and some of the restaurant area were very hot, luckily we found an air conditioned corner.

The Paragon Hotel was recommended to us and we were advised to book ahead, even though it was Sunday. The hotel was popular but this did not detract from our enjoyment. The venue had a well positioned kids room which had games which kept our 5yo and some other kids entertained. The meals were generous and delicious. Highly recommend the calamari which was cooked perfectly as well as the salmon and lamb cutlets. The staff were polite and helpful and service was efficient.

Room Tip: Book in advance. Ask to have a table near the kids room if you have little ones.

Thank you for a wonderful review! It is always hard to please 5 year olds so we're glad our kids room did! Hope to see you next time you're in town!

The rooms are up $30 from February because they painted same bathrooms and the rooms have not improved. I'm happy to say this is my final stay at the Paragon. I'd like to thank the staff on this visit and the last room 10 is not a king. I think they hire anyone so if you looking for a job and can spell you will probably make manager or licencee.

Ok place to stay the night, rooms are alright, beds ok, could need a small bedside table lamp as only lamp in the room is the one attached to the fan, a minibar instead of a strange wine fridge would be handy if passing through like we did as the wine fridge make a lot of noise and isn't very useful to be honest, it's hard to even have it running over night with the noise.
Would be great if room had some type of locking on the inside of the door, safety latch perhaps as people come back from a night out very late and it would make it less uncomfortable sleeping next to the door.
Rooms are above the pub, recommend staying away from room 13 as you will not be able to sleep until music from downstairs is turned off and you'll most likely hear every single person walking up the stairs as well, Monday-thursday is probably my recommendation if staying here for a night or so as it gets very noisy and people have a drink or two(and maybe one too many drinks as well that will wake you up in the middle of the night, felt sorry for the cleaners)
Overall 2,5 of 5 stars for our stay, staff were friendly, women's bathroom nice and updated, but I wouldn't re-book unless I was guaranteed a room in the back of the building where it might be less noisy, but that's the luck of the draw I guess.

Thankyou for your review. Unfortunately, we did not own the venue when you stayed at the Paragon. We have been upgrading the rooms since we took over on July 1 and will offer a higher standard of pub accommodation in the future. We also operate the McKenna Terraces next door and offer discount vouchers for direct bookings for use in the Hotel.

One day pubs like this will be sued by past customers for contributing to early cardiac problems. Their lamb cutlets were almost unrecognisable as sheep based, shrivelled in their armour plated coating. They should be served with a health warning

Dinner at bushman’s in the paragon hotel is terrific. Called in for a drink but once we were reminded of the fabulous beer garden, inspected the great pub menu and enjoyed a cold Cooper’s and wine, dinner was on. The beer garden is a fabulous place to eat - warm, lively - and the food good basic pub food at reasonable prices (these days). Staff, apart from one surly girl, were very hospitable. Well worth a visit

Very basic food, pub food circa 1950. Crumbed cutlets that dissent tell you they were crumbed. soggy veg and packet gravy. Given the standard of local produce and other restaurants it’s a very lame effort. Much better options close by. Save your stomach and your money.

We enjoyed an excellent evening meal at The Paragon on a one night stopover in Mudgee. The quality of the meal was excellent and the staff helpful and welcoming. There was a steady flow of diners that the kitchen seemed to cope with wonderfully well. A really good pub meal!

Visited this establishment with our family for an evening meal. The menu was extensive, but we had the 'special' for the night- t-bone steak. The steaks were tender and very reasonably priced. The waitress provided books and colouring in pencils for our grandkids and the meals for the kids came first and in 'express time'. This made for a pleasant experience for the adults at the table. One thing you need to do is book- this place was very busy.
