The Horatio Suites are well appointed and comfortable. Our suite faced the main road which has a high level of traffic noise so would request to be located well away from this busy frontage.
The sliding door to the bathroom has an opaque glass door which allows light to pass through. A street light meant the room was not in complete darkness for sleeping. This could be solved by installation of a roller blind to block out light as needed.
We would definitely stay again. Staff were very helpful, directing us to points of interest and recommended the Orient Hotel for an evening meal.

My friend and I stayed at the Horatio for a mid-week package. The room was huge with a microwave included in the kitchenette, which was very handy. The room was very clean and modern. The toiletries provided included make up remover wipes, which was a great idea! We enjoyed the bottle of wine and cheese platter as part of our package, as well as the wine tour with Mudgee VIP wine tours. The guide, Natalie, was fun and knowledgable. We learned a lot about the wines and the history of the Mudgee area. She even squeezed in a cheese tasting at High Valley Cheese Co! Anne from The Pampered Lady was willing to come and give us a relaxing facial in our room - just another example of great Mudgee hospitality! Can't say enough good things about this hotel and the Mudgee region.

Clayton and Caitlin welcomed us with a smile 😀.

Our room was beautiful, our breakfast was yummy and our cheese platter with our package was a perfect introduction to the local produce and was delicious. We would highly recommend the Horatio and will to our family and friends. We see you again soon.

We have stayed at the Horatio previously, and it was a good motel. This time was better as there has been an upgrade to the suites and our room had a king bed.
Prior to arriving we were asked to complete a covid pre-check in and it was a contactless check in where we just had to collect our key from a locked box.
It was good to know the team had a good covid procedure in place and sanitisers and clear signage located around the entrances of the property.
The room was a very good size and as well as the king bed I mentioned previously, included a kitchenette with microwave and underbench fridge, along with all cutlery, crockery and glasses that we would require.
There was also a good sized lounge and coffee table area that we were able to use for drinks with our friends that we were travelling with. If here for work there was a comfortable work chair and desk space, as well as a table and chairs for 2 for meals.
The bathroom is also a good size, with a large shower space.
The bed was a bit firm for me, but my husband liked it, so not an issue as such.
Decor was bright and colourful, and the TV appeared to have premium Foxtel access as there were multiple sports channels rather than the usual 2 or 3, along with movies and premium TV channels available.
The Horatio is well located and not far from the central main street of Mudgee, so has quick access to grocery shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
On-site parking is also available at no extra cost.

Had pre-booked a one-night stopover here. Our bedroom was large and clean, the bathroom clean and serviceable. The room probably photographs slightly better than it actually looks, which is just a little colourless except for the single distinctive artwork and couple of cushions. The bed was really comfortable however, there’s a good size desk, we had a sofa and there’s excellent self catering potential with a microwave & mid-size fridge. The bathroom wasn’t exactly all new mod cons, but it was clean and serviceable with good toiletries provided.
We walked into town for dinner and it’s about a 10 – 15 minute flat walk depending on how fast you walk.
If you’re noise averse, just be aware the rooms at the back overlook some sort of works depot. Didn’t worry us, but we stayed on a Friday & the place closed around 5pm & didn’t open Saturday morning. There’s also an opening window, unusual these days allowing fresh air to circulate if the aircon/heating isn’t needed.
If we were staying in Mudgee again, depending on the price differential, we’d probably check out the Luxury King Suites which are in a separate building at the same location. These are further towards the front of the property, nearer to the highway but many had balconies.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage as we wanted to have our own space and a kitchen to cook meals for our 2 kids (3 & 1) Very disappointed to find there was no cooker or saucepans in the cottage. We couldn’t even cook something as simple as pasta or a boiled/scrambled egg.
That wasn’t even the biggest problem...on our first night we spotted a mouse running across the floor in the living room. I called reception the next morning and asked them to attend to it that day as we would be away for most of the day. The next morning we found more mouse droppings on the kitchen counter and were also visited by huge cockroaches.
I called reception again and asked what they had done about the mice and they said they had set a trap and were going to Bunnings that day to buy some more. I requested that we be moved to the main hotel as I didn’t feel comfortable staying in the cottage with rodents and cockroaches.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating but they never once apologised for the inconvenience caused by having to move across to the hotel. We pretty much lost a day of our holiday as we had to pack everything up, wait for the new rooms to be ready and then unpack again when we moved. We were not compensated for any time/money lost.
It’s a pity that the cottage is not properly maintained as it would be an ideal place for a family/group to stay but unfortunately it seems it has been neglected for quite a while and is not clean enough for a family to stay in.

Just an average country motel. Comfortable bed and generous sized room with good shower etc. Being Christmas eve, the expected road noise surprisingly did not happen (early to bed for country folk, I guess)
Breakfast was very ordinary and served in the room. The other option was to have breakfast in the dining area - six tables adjoining the reception desk. Not that flash.
A better option would have been 100 metres down the road at the Comfort Inn motel where we went for a very enjoyable dinner.

I purchased the "Love is in the air" package to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We both had such a relaxing time! We were warmly greeted by Clayton & Caitlin who both ensured our experience was well catered for, leaving us a birthday welcome message in our room as well as going above and beyond to ensure my dietary requirements were met.

Our package included a local cheese platter with a bottle wine which we took by the pool and thoroughly enjoyed the assortment of flavours. On our 2nd day we Caitlin had arrange a private half day wine tour for us, which was such a treat! We enjoyed the likes of 3 different venues to taste local wines and enjoyed the comfort of being privately driven.

We found the accomodation and facilities well kept, with recently updated styling contributing to a luxury experience. Highly recommended for our friends in Sydney looking to branch away from the Hunter to see what Mudgee has to offer.

We stayed at the Horatio for two nights and were very happy. The room was clean, well fitted out and comfortable. Any questions we had were answered with pleasure and a slow draining sink was fixed immediately.

I had a plug-in hybrid and was given access to a parking spot next to a power board. The manager provided a mat immediately to cover the cord on the footpath - considerate and helpful. Nothing is a problem.

The location is two minutes drive from the centre of town or a comfortable flat walk.

All in all we will definitely return on our next stay in Mudgee.

Second stay in the Horatio suites and again it didn't disappoint. Great value for money located short drive from town. Very clean great sized suite with modern fittings. Open and airy room with table and 2 chairs, lounge, coffee table, air conditioner, Foxtel TV, large comfortable bed, and a balcony. Large bathroom area with great sized vanity area and a walk in shower. Kitchenette with microwave, small fridge, crockery and glassware. Swimming pool and BBQ available for guests. Stayed in 2nd floor suite but worth noting there is no lift at this location so if you have trouble with stairs would suggest requesting ground floor. All staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. We will definitely stay at this location again on our next visit to Mudgee.
