Went for the week end and could have stayed a month, the hosts Paul and Lavinia were a pleasure.. the room was ideal, clean and comfy and good priced. There were plenty of areas in the gardens for a cuppa and a quiet chat with mates. If you enjoy a walk there is a river only a stroll away which was a pleasant flat walk. It was only 5 minutes drive to town and the wineries a little further. Lots to see in Mudgee including the Micro Brewery for those who enjoy a beer,,, try the pork crackling.. its a treat and the beer sample pots well, lets just say... awesome. Will be back...that's for sure
This converted school house B&B was the perfect place for my husband and I to meet with friends and have a quiet relaxed weekend exploring around Mudgee. There are three separate accommodation areas, one is a studio style room, with a Queen bed, a separate bathroom which has been beautifully renovated, a lovely old cabinet with our breakfast supplies, a TV and a desk and chair. There is air conditioning and an outdoor covered area filled with memorabilia, old bottles, a collection of akubra hats and many curios to browse through. The rooms were spotless and the beds were lovely and comfortable. The other room was slightly smaller, but again, had everything we could want. The third room is a self contained cottage with kitchen, living room, fireplace and also reverse cycle air conditioning. There are small garden areas with tables and chairs where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the King parrots flitting about in the giant trees, read a book or simply be still. There are some (small) friendly dogs (let the owners know if you are allergic or don't like dogs, they will keep them away) which we came to love in our short time there. This is a very family friendly place with plenty of room to play on the lawns, some quaint bronze statues and even a swimming pool. The owners are extremely professional, provide information or help when asked, and ensure that your time at The Old School House is peaceful and uninterrupted. They have everything you need right there when you arrive and even call a couple of hours prior to your intended arrival to make sure you know the directions and that all is going well. You may not see them when you arrive, but they have thoughtfully made sure that everything is ready for you to quickly settle in and be comfortable. Of course, they are available if you do need them. It is five minutes drive from Mudgee, with its honey, cheese and wine. Not to mention some very nice homewares, clothing and shoe shops. The meals we ate at the local pubs and restaurants were all first class. We visited some tourist spots, including wineries and also drove the 20 minutes to Gulgong for a look around. Gulgong is a historic town with intact buildings from last century. We had a lovely walk, a delicious gelato made by a local family and then came home to The Old School House via what remains of Henry Lawson's boyhood cottage. I fully recommend this B&B. It is reasonably priced, in a lovely rural setting and run by people who know what they are doing.…
Nice, quiet and comfortable space with cute outdoor area. Friendly dogs that add to the homeliness of the place. Easy riding distance to town that is flat. Friendly and professional hosts. Great place.
Have stayed here several times now on Business trips. It never disappoints, home away from home when on the road. Would highly recommend it for comfort and value for those travelling for work or pleasure.
Lovely place, beautiful view in Autumn, I enjoy sitting outside and have a cup of coffee in the morning while looking at beautiful view, is already lovely way to start the day in Mudgee. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We have been here twice and will be back again.
