Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The accommodation is attached to a restaurant which is also a wedding venue. Upon check in, I had to walk through a wedding reception where speeches were happening in order to access our room. The wedding was obviously extremely noisy with guests rightfully enjoying the reception however the rooms are directly above the reception location and it is extremely noisy. We had to move our dinner reservation to an earlier time because the noise was too much. I would not recommend to stay here. The hotel also takes no responsibility for the noise, and at $265 a night, you’d think you could sit and enjoy your room without the noise. Further, there’s no lift and the stairs are very narrow. This is not inclusive and also means it is impossible to bring larger luggage up the stairs.

Impromptu two nights booking having cancelled a reservation at another venue. Staff so friendly and helpful on the phone and reception. Room was comfortable and location excellent. There was some noise upstairs and outside but that was advised. Would happily return

Great old-world charm. Nicely appointed rooms with a little extra touch that makes it stand out. We stayed one night, it was quiet had no noise issue. location great very central to eateries. Reception was very pleasant and helpful, chocolates on arrival. Our room upstairs was beautiful we had a spa bath. Would I stay again? Most definately.

We arrived at this hotel and were given an upstairs room. And whilst the stairs were rather steep and certainly not user friendly I understand the reasons why there is no lift. The bathroom was lovely but had no window and the smell of sewage as I was having a shower was extremely off-putting. The bedroom was tastefully decorated but small. No complaint about he staff member who was very pleasant as we checked in. As I have read in other reviews the courtyard is noisy in the morning. Interesting to note also that the owners respond to the negative comments about the restaurants (rather rudely, I feel) by taking no responsibility whatsoever for behaviour on their property but take the positive comments on board without comment. All in all I feel it is overpriced when there is abundant choice in Mudgee so would we stay here again? absolutely not

The beautiful little hotel in the heart of Mudgee which was once a stop over for the Cobb & Co Coach during the gold rush times. Lovely appointed rooms with a generous bathroom including double shower and corner spa. A short stroll to so many hotels, cafes and quaint shops. A great place to stay with a very comfy bed and a little courtyard seating set out the front of our room.

Friendly professional check-in.. I was a little concerned as car parking was out on the street. Reassured by receptionist. Room large , amazing sized bathroom along with spa bath. Room clean and well set out. Bed comfortable Nice local biscuits/ chocolate to sample, which was lovely with a cuppa tea. Good instructions on how to access room/ building after hours. The only issue was noise from the adjoining restaurant. My room was closest to this restaurant Not overly noisy but could be heard over TV and particularly when group leaving . It wasn't late. I would stay again as I loved the older style rooms but would ask for a room away from the restaurant.

Unfortunately, we had a rather unpleasant stay at the property and there was no attempt at service recovery from management. Here are the details: Checked in on Friday, 10 March 2023 at Cobbs and Co in Mudgee. We arrived at 19:00 after office hours but did have information sent to us as to how to access our room. It was a bit unclear as to how the property operates and although there was reference to a restaurant in the courtyard and after further looking into the property details in the booking I can see a few references to a “inner courtyard” view and potential noise Please note that there is no capacity for additional guests and this room can be affected by noise from the restaurant from 6.00am and occasionally until 9.30pm. FYI the restaurant is operated by a different company. But nothing could have prepared us for our stay. First night no problem, there were patrons in the restaurant and nothing to complain about in terms of noise or disruption. However not on the second night. Seeing that there was a table set up for over 50 people by the looks of it early Saturday night, I was told by the restaurant staff that there would be a function until 11pm. What took place was not only a function, but an auction as this was for a fundraising event. We had speeches, an auctioneer, and a very appreciative crowd (the table is 5 feet from our door). Honestly, we couldn’t even hear the TV it was so loud. The fact is that this is not a complaint because of a rowdy crowd. This was not the restaurant patron’s fault in the least and we feel bad that they were put in this awkward position. We and them should not have been in this situation. If we knew that there was a function on that night, we would have never booked this room. Both the hotel and the restaurant are at fault for not controlling the potential disastrous outcome of this evening for their customers. This is where the situation gets worst. We contacted after hours coverage to express our disappointment and frustration. One of the staff arrives and attempts to control the situation. Hotel representative blames the restaurant for not advising them, restaurant blames the fundraising group for being loud, and everyone blames us for complaining. We all return to respective corners without resolution. The function finishes close to 10pm and we finally are able to rest. Next morning we check out, the front staff and the owner are there and they are clearly prepared for us on the front foot. Terms and condition sheet is pulled out within seconds of telling them who we are - we should have been aware that the bottom rooms are noisy. And yes, when you make a booking on any platform these days you automatically click the T&Cs, but honestly, the T&Cs never made mention of 50 merrymaking in various state of tipsiness 5 feet from our bed. Any attempt at service recovery would have been appreciated. We were asked to write asked to write a complaint letter so that the hotel could confront the restaurant. This is not service recovery. This is a quaint and clean property although the rooms have quite lofty categories (we were certainly not in Executive Queen Rooms or a Private Suite Junior Queen Room). Full disclosure, we were offered a free upgrade for our next visit. Considering the above, there is little chance that we’ll be back. That said, Mudgee is worth the visit to anyone considering it and features regional Australia at it’s best.

We were going to a concert at Club Mudgee and needed accommodation within walking distance. After booking through Wotif the communication with reception via phone call and text message was exceptional. This included information about parking and check in access after hours. The room was a delight. Period furniture and fittings. Coffee pod machine. Spa bath. Comfy bed. Air conditioning. There was nothing about our stay that we would fault.

This is the kind of place where owners and staff manage the place with heart and passion. We enjoyed our stay every minute of the day. Clean, spacious, and everything was there ! Spa-bath, well equiped kitchen (coffee, tee, cookies), big rooms, good heating and cooling and very neat. We’ve been here for one night during our Australia-trip and it was really worth the stop. Good value for money, friendly staff and a relaxing place. Well done, keep up the good work
