We spent 1 week in a King Studio at Abode Gungahlin in Canberra. The hotel is in a very convenient location, close to shops, transport places to eat. There is plenty of space and the apartment was very clean with a comfortable bed and nice towels. There is access in the foyer to extra towels, linen, tea etc which is very convenient if you do not want a full service each day. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We found a few drawbacks: The general lighting is very poor. The only place for reading is in bed. You cannot read anything with the general lighting in the room. * No safe for storing passports and valuables * Not many coat hangers for a longer stay - no skirt hangers for ladies * The table is very small - no table or desk for work space * No grab rail in shower * A few other items which would have been helpful for a week's stay - towel rail for tea towel, folding clothes airer for items not suitable for drier (washing machine is a combination washer / drier so drying takes a long time.) Scissors for kitchen, sharp knives that cut, plates that fit into the dishwasher (the large ones were too tall and took up a lot of space when leaning over thus reducing space for other crockery. Overall, we had a comfortable stay.

Didn’t book a room until the day I landed. This property kept on popping up, I didn’t want to stay in the northern suburbs as my day started early the next day in bungendore but I thought just get up earlier. Check in was easy, friendly, prompt. I received a free upgrade. The room was very nice, clean, spacious and had a nice balcony to overlook some greenery and local buildings. I found that the hotel was very quiet which I liked, no exterior noise. Had all I could ask for, my only knock which is so slight was the shower area, I’m quite tall and the shower head wasn’t high enough for me, and water pressure lacking a little. But overall 5/5 The stand out was I checked out, drove off and realised I had left my wedding ring in the room. I came back with no staff in attendance, and I had put my access card into the early bird check out box. I called the help desk, after confirming I was who I was, they cut the key remotely and I regained access to my room and got said precious. Close to plenty of eating options, shopping district. Would certainly return

My wife and I stayed briefly at Abode Gungahlin during a short stopover in Canberra. We chose the location due to its proximity to where our relatives live. We have absolutely no criticism of this accommodation. Arrival and departure were efficient, booking was easy, the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, well furnished and comfortable. The kitchenette was sufficient for making breakfast and eating takeaway meals. The bathroom was a reasonable size and there was plenty of hot water. Our room faced away from the main road and we did not notice any traffic noise. Wi-Fi was very good.

I’ve stayed at the Abode Gungallin about 5 times and have watched it slowly start to feel so somewhat dilapidated with stained carpet and chipped paint. We returned again for just one night and had to endure very intrusive music coming from the restaurant/bar next door. Though the hotel does provide a decent level of comfort with the rooms I feel that it doesn’t extend to the ambience. I think most guests would like to retire to their rooms and not hear the thump, thump of music coming from the restaurant. Unfortunately Abode doesn’t have much competition in the local area but we’ll definitely think long and hard before we stay here again. /

Read some of the reviews and almost didn’t book. So happy we did. The room was large and clean, perfect for our family of 5. We were in room 61, didn’t hear any noise the first night, second night, a little but was expected outdoor noise. Location was great for us, close to great cafes and restaurants and to the shops. Recommend Sunday cafe for breakfast and Ogawa Japanese for dinner. Loved that the room had enough cooking utensils for dining in one night and brand new washing machine and tumble dryer was appreciated as we are half way through a long trip. Would recommend.

We found the location, within 5 minutes of a large shopping centre, was convenient. The apartment was light, airy and clean. The bed was comfortable. There was some noise at night with McDonalds behind and a couple of restaurants nearby but it wouldn't stop me returning. The receptionist who greeted us on arrival was particularly warm and welcoming.

We have stayed here numerous times over the past 4 years and we find that each time the hotel is getting a little more in need of attention. The rooms are quite comfortable and the beds very good, however the carpets are starting to show wear, the rooms only have one side table and lamp in many rooms rather then one on each side of the bed as they used to, there is now only one bin in each room and these along with the toilet cleaning gear is going rusty. All small things that could be easily fixed. The location is great, walking distance to shops, eateries and the tram into the city.

Have stayed at Abode 3 times. In the past always clean, friendly & reasonably priced. Although we had an extended stay, unfortunately this stay was very disappointing Our 1st night was a pet friendly room, but was very unkept. Cobwebs & smoke smell. Pet smell was expected but it was not a comfortable room. 2nd night we moved to a regular studio without our dog. Expecting a cleaner more comfortable room. It was clean, but housekeeping was only to replenish shower soap, make the bed very quickly, no clean sheets. Towels were replaced.Rubbish was not removed , never any tidying or dishes into dishwasher. By our 5th and last night we realised it wasn't getting any better. No rubbish removed, no dishes done ever, limited replacement of tissues etc and never any water or milk replaced. 5 days same sheets...I agree sheets can be kept couple of days but really this is poor service. Parking is not available many nights, grounds are in need of TLC. We have family in Gunghalin but I will look around in the future.

Family studio was really small for the 3 of us and our dog. Bathroom tiny. Quite disappointing in terms of space and comfort. Basic furnishings. Could have more furniture. Appliances not working well (broken button on microwave, coffee capsule kept getting stuck, can't cook pizza, no strainer for when you boil things). Just lacking in so many ways. Carpet needs a bloody good clean. Some work on the garden out the front would be a bonus. Disappointing compared to the fabulous Abode in Narrabundah, which was sold out for the same period.

I was hesitant to stay here. My husband was travelling for work and I was shopping. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. I loved that it had a coffee machine and you could use to link your phone to the tv. Would absolutely stay here again.
