We have just returned from 4 glorious days on Makepeace Island, and if someone held a gun to my head and forced me to choose my favourite part..... I couldn’t. Everything was absolutely PERFECT! The Villas, the service, the food, cleanliness, thoughtfulness, and a complete respect for the surrounding environment and eco-system - all of it was just perfect. Our rooms were stunning and catered for everything - the lack of televisions was actually such a blessing! Time was able to stand still, and after such a horrible year, the mental health break was so beneficial. Zeb, the Island’s Super Chef, is a magician. His passion and knowledge was on every plate, but he was also happy to cater for our very fussy 10 year old, which meant the world to us. An absolute legend and an asset to the Island. To beautiful Celine, Maxine, Laura and everyone who bent over backwards for us - we honestly cannot thank you enough. Even “Crazy Paul”, the boat driver who took the kids out tubing on the river..... you created memories they’ll never, ever forget. We miss you all so much! ❤️ You will not regret experiencing Makepeace Island in any way you can. It’s an incredibly special place, filled with incredibly special people. Thank you. We hope to be back again one day. x

Like so many others, only experience is a curiosity visit with a food event. Had always believed it was something special, most luxurious "island" in the world. Again like others, left disappointed. Not sure how I'd feel if I stayed here but from what I saw definitely not 5 stars and certainly not worth the money charged for a stay.

The main area is a nice Balinese in style and the staff are very pleasant and helpful What a shock when we got to our room. No TV no Radio no bedside tables , no chair and no room to move just depressing dark brown walls. How they could even compare to a 5 star is beyond me unless it is because of the names associated with the ownership. I can’t begin to imagine the cost of the place that at a real stretch could only barely reach 4 stars .Hanging rails for clothes too high up for most to reach but with about 12 cms of rail in two places you can’t fit much. There is a fridge and tea making facilities. The bed is quite soft and was slightly dipped so not good for a sore back. No feather pillows but I did organize some slightly softer ones instead of the very hard ones on the bed when we arrived. There are stairs everywhere so beware. Our room had a balcony & was at the boat ramp but was very noisy. If we we surprised the others had to share a bathroom & toilet. As well as that as they were near the main area they said it was very noisy The swimming pool was nice but the entire place had a tennis court a few rather old gym equipment pieces and nowhere to go for a walk. No paths where you could stroll or have a nice long walk around the island

Response from makepeaceislandgm, General Manager at Makepeace Island
Responded 23 Oct 2019
Good Evening Evelynne, Thank you for your review. It was such a delight to welcome your friends to the island recently. I am disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy our Boat House Villa that was selected for you by your event coordinators so that you did not have to share a villa and could enjoy the privacy that the villa allows, overlooking the Noosa River. Makepeace Island is a retreat for guests to escape the noise of the world, and therefore we do not have televisions. It is a peaceful island, so the only noise that is created is from your friends and family that are enjoying all that the island has to offer. We are on 25 acres here and the majority of the island is natural floral and fauna as required by council. The island does include a short walk to help stretch the legs and you can spot many native birds and wildlife. Perhaps we could of arranged to take you to Noosa to explore the stunning National Park had you requested this during your stay and spoken to me personally. Again, I am incredibly disappointed to hear that you feel that the island did no live up to your expectations and meet your personal preferences. I will take your feedback on board and use it to better our offering for our valued guests in future. All the very best and thank you for your time. Regards, Bobbie Murphy General Manager

We were fortune to attend Makepeace Is as part of the Noosa Food & Wine festival. It was a fantastic experience. The island is beautiful and of course guests want for nothing. The food was magnificent and the variety of adult beverages was ample. It is probably out of our price range to stay on Makepeace Island but the day trip was an eye opener!! The staff were very friendly, helpful, obliging and professional.

It's hard to express just how good this island is. We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights there for a friends wedding, and I cannot imagine a better place to start married life. From the moment we were picked up by boat at the marina, we knew this was going to be a special weekend. The greeting at the dock was low key, warm and welcoming. Chef Lisa is a genius - creating dish after dish with the most exquisite local produce, full of natural flavours and goodness. Every member of staff took it upon themselves to make sure each guest was pampered. The turn down service at night is from another era, and the island itself is a place where you can't help but unwind and relax. Truly exceptional.

I only went for the day as part of the Noosa Food and Wine Festival but in between courses managed to take a look around the accommodation and it was just beautiful. So tranquil and just like being in Bali. The main house was where we got to sample to wonderful foods and if it hadn't been pouring with rain we could have lazed around the pool too, maybe next time!

After a short boat ride from Noosa we arrived at this great looking place and knew immediately we were in for a treat. We had four nights of island heaven with a group of 20 friends. Everything was so well organised, none of us had to think about anything. Sir Richard Branson should be so proud that his island escape has the best staff I have ever encountered. Emma, thank you so much for looking after us all. Your team are intuitive, friendly, happy, accommodating and seriously wonderful. The food was amazing. Every meal was carefully crafted and presented beautifully. No matter whether you care to: relax, swim, play tennis, nature walk or fish, it is all here. After a group river cruise one night and parties every other night, the outdoor cinema was a great way to relax and spend the final night. We were sorry to leave but living this life of luxury isn't real so make sure you savour every moment. Jed, thank you for the bait and all the little simple luxuries during the fishing time. It was greatly appreciated.

Just returned from 5 nights at MakePeace with a group of close friends. From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional. Jason on the boat was one of the nicest, most helpful and accommodating people I have ever met. We needed the boat early every morning and late every night to go for surfs on the Noosa Point breaks and he was more than happy to have everything ready to roll at first light and bring us back in the dark at night. Absolute legend of a guy! Lisa in the kitchen is a phenomenal chef. Everything she made was delicious and was more than happy to whip up some plain pasta and avocado toast for our young daughter. The accommodation is straight out of Bali. Beautiful traditional Balinese houses with all the modern amenities you need. The bathrooms and entry leave you feeling a sense of calm and relaxation as soon as you enter the rooms. The waterfall and pond in the middle of the house is beautiful, especially at night when the turndown service lights the candles surrounding it. Our daughter also enjoyed feeding the small goldfish in the pond every morning. The common areas are very beautiful yet functional. All the hand carved wood details in the doors and daybeds is amazing and the pool is perfectly designed for function and beauty. We really enjoyed swimming during the day and relaxing in the warm spa at sunset. The grounds are immaculately maintained and gorgeous. A perfect blend of hardwood walkways and natural forestry from villa to villa. There's 2 small issues that prevented me from going 5 stars. One is the mattress/pillows. Our mattress was very hard and the pillows were too thin. It seems like nitpicking when your at a place so beautiful and maybe I am just used to a softer memory foam but we found it difficult to get a good nights sleep and woke with slightly sore shoulders, and neck. The other issue is the boat noise. Although this place is as secluded as you can possibly get in Noosa there is some boat noise from the river. I am a deep sleeper so I really didn't notice it at all but some of the other people in our group are light sleepers and they noticed it in the mornings. All in all MakePeace is an amazing place and we had an exceptional experience staying there. If you looking for peace, tranquility and luxury all while being 5min from the heart of Noosa this is the perfect place to stay! Great for romantic getaways, family time and the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Thanks to all the staff there for making it a great stay and for looking after our every need!
