Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Only service station for several hundred klm. And boy do they know it, French backpackers were brilliant and attentive, and that’s it. Petrol (expectedly) expensive, coffee crap, (instant only) snack food pitiful. Toilets looking dirty and unclean. Come on Sandfire you could make this a lot nicer stop for travellers. PS good ice cream selection (ice creams being the possibly healthiest choice of snack)

Great caravan park. Amenities good. Staff very friendly. Meals are great. I had lamb shank with veggies and my husband had a T Bone with veggies. Delicious. Good to chat to other travellers while having dinner. Lovely peacock's there too.

We booked the $80 budget room with a double bed and use of campsite ablutions, and were given Unit 20 not expecting much for the price. Arriving there, the outside did not inspire much confidence and when opening the donga door we decided this room was NOT BUDGET BUT UNINHABITABLE. Unfortunately, I was a bit too shocked to take a photo of the inside, but there were too singles pushed together, the bottom sheet showing along the side of the front one was filthy, there were bits of material hanging of the ceiling and walls. It was disgusting. It was too late to move on, so we were forced to pay for the ensuite accommodation. This was liveable, however, at $180/night one would at least expect the entrance door to securely lock, which it didn't. My husband had to get some tools out to fix this... Dinner of fish and vegetables was very average. The one star I'm giving this place is for the friendly service of the French crew trying their best with what they've got...

The first time we booked here, we were told that if we arrived before 12:00 noon we would not have a problem finding a site for our caravan. This time we arived at 11:30am and managed to get the only powered site left. As it was quite warm, a powered site was essential - we're geting too old to go without our air conditioner. The site itself is nothing much, on sand. There is a bit of wildlife walking around including a camel behind a fence. The site itself being generous would rate a 2 or 3 out of 5. However the roadhouse itself is a nice attraction in itself, with a lovely eating/drinking area outside. The food is always perfect here. Good serve of very tasty food. 5 out of 5.

A great shady spot with big sites for an overnight break for the 600 kms trip from Port Hedland to Broome. The ablutions while small are good with hot good flow showers. Peacocks and geese as well as well as wild birds abound.. Enjoyed staying there.

Really cool little place. Definitely stop if you're going by the are. Peacocks freely walking around! How cool is that! In the middle of the outback. Definitely recommend the place to anyone who is driving up to Broome. Their chips were also surprisingly brilliant.

Okay, I realise I had a choice of paying $150 or $70 so I chose the cheaper, aware from experience it would be basic. Wrong...it was worse than basic, worse than places I've experienced in third world countries. A hot dingy unkempt hovel. There was a fridge and an ancient air conditioner but both so noisy that sleep was impossible. The bed bugs ripped into me with their bites still hanging around a week later. 11pm I gave up and left to camp on the side of the road. Normally, I do not lodge terrible reviews. This one I felt obliged to as a warning to other travellers hoping for a cheaper night's sleep. It's far better value on the roadside than forking out $70 for worse than basic 'accomodation' probably better described as a pit.

Great little stop in the middle of nowhere Friendly staff, good service and good freshly made food Will be definitely stopping in here on the way back The history of the place showcased in a display to the right of the roadhouse also makes very interesting reading The only other option is Pardoo roadhouse 130 kms away which is a disgrace

After hours on the road, Sandfire roadhouse is always a welcome oasis to stop, fuel up and stretch the legs. More peacocks than the last time I stopped through, it’s a great place to break up the drive between Hedland and Broome. I’d definitely recommend this as a stopover for anyone travelling through.
