You’re driving through the Kari forest to get to your own private little cottage completely secluded and nestled amongst a tropical jungle paradise. You jump out the car and notice the peaceful sounds of birds and wind flowing through the trees … nothing else. It’s freezing as you go to get the bags out of the car, but you notice smoke coming out of your chimney that has been lovingly pre lit by the hosts. You find your little pathway leading you through tropical ferns that take you to your own porch that is fully equipped with a bbq, wood, couches, table and chairs and a lovely personalised welcome letter attached to the door. You turn the handle and immediately feel the warmth coming through and the warm scents of sandalwood incense that is burning. The dim lighting makes it feel as if you’ve taken a step back in time and you instantly feel you can relax mentally and physically. You’re scanning the cottage and notice immediately the gorgeous clean sauna for some light skin therapy and toxin release. Then the beautiful open king sized bedroom with chest drawers, rails and bedside tables to really make you feel at home as you unpack. The kitchenette also fully equipped with loads of thoughtful complementaries.
You’re looking around wondering where the rest is …and then you find the door handle camouflaged in the antique accents of the cottage. You slide the heavy door to find another slice of heaven with a section dedicated to a massive standing bath laced with ancient bath salts and organic ammenities to provide a private spa therapy experience.. directly opposite is the beautiful bathroom with an open shower fitted with a waterfall head.
And then, just when you think that’s incredible enough, the best part.. Another huge heavy door holds the windows which give you a peak of the paradise that awaits outside. You eagerly slide it open and are taken to Bali. Ferns over hanging the private deck that leads you to your eden of ultimate restoration. A pre heated jet loaded spa awaits you as you witness the steam rising into the crisp air. A convenient shower nearby with cold and hot settings for all seasons. Sheltered by a wooden hut you are surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature and the forest..

Nestled in the forest near the Dave Evans bicentennial tree is an oasis of style and serenity. We stayed for 2 nights in the Moroccan Suite, with amazing styling including a king size wooden sleigh bed. The price was very reasonable for the quality of accomodation and the setting, down an unsealed road, surrounded by nature - tall trees, tiny wrens and kangaroos, ensuring an unforgettable experience. As it allowed self catering, we feasted on fresh marron from Forest Fresh Marron, with truffle ponzu sauce from Truffle Hill and a local sauvignon blanc from 10 Chains. This area is a gourmet's delight and the accomodation first rate.

Our stay at Mudstone Spa Retreat was the perfect place to relax and recharge away from the city. The moment we arrived at our room “Villa Romantica” the tone was set for a cozy couple of days, with everything we needed to sit back and soak in the serenity.
Set right in the heart of the Karri forest we could start the day with a cup of coffee on the deck and end the night with a bbq and hot bath, whilst taking in the special place Greg and Joy have created.
The service and ease of access to facilities and tourism attractions in Pemberton is perfect! Everything you need is within a 15 minute drive. The apartment was immaculate upon arrival, with beautiful quality bedding and toweling.
Will definitely be back as soon as I can, and might treat mum and dad for Christmas too! The perfect escape!

Thank you for making us welcome. Regrettably in our opinion, The Moroccan does not meet expectations at your price point. In our opinion, the driveway and the approaches to the door need work to make it less sloppy in wet weather. The outdoor spa bath is not well positioned - it is down a little stony weedy pathway, in a potentially windy location, on some tired decking which has gaps. There is minimal and worn outdoor furniture for the guests, situated under a worn gazebo, served by stepping stones that are 2 steps apart! Indoors is quite dark, with a high table and 2 stools, and a low couch - no table and chairs, no armchairs, and no view through the modest windows. The bed had an odour, and the ‘flannel’ sheets would not be my choice. The fly wire door is significantly damaged & would not be fly proof. The outdoor doormat was very & soggy tired - and the Moroccan needs an indoor door mat for rainy days. The use of power boards mounted on walls seems excessive v professionally installed fittings, the lack of power points at the bedside & at the high ‘dining’ table for chargers is disappointing. The globes above the bed are very dim, there is nil lighting in the storage alcove behind the front door, & there were insufficient coat hangers for us. The Wifi is good, but the modern Starlink connection is contrary to the aged instructions displayed. Ancient boot-legged DVDs, & vinyl LPs with no turntable that I could see, and some cracked crockery were disappointing. The district has many attractions, perhaps the other 3 ‘villas’ are superior, but we were disappointed. As experienced hospitality hosts, I hope that you consider our feedback constructively. A lot of simple fixes could make a big difference.

Very disappointed with this accommodation. We chose the Moroccan Suite which boasts a private spa bath…..our first impression was the room with as so dark & dingy (even with all the lights on) with a damp musty smell. On closer inspection the furniture surfaces hadn’t seen a duster in a while, decor was very old in need of some attention. I started sneezing as I am allergic to dust mites, I can only assume that being the cause. The adjoining unlocked door lead into apparently a function room where people had access to our room, I know because I accessed the function area undetected. We could also hear people talking which gave us no privacy. I believe the ‘function room’ was part of the owners dwelling. We then explored the private spa bath, which was outside around the side of the accommodation, again very little privacy and poorly presented, bath was extremely rustic, only big enough to fit one person. Very disappointed considering it’s an adult only retreat with very little privacy for adults to do adult things….needless to say we didn’t stay more than an hour, forfeited our $700 to go stay elsewhere….. never again’

I am a solo 60 year old widow undergoing breast cancer treatment/chemo looking for a bit of serenity in this little holiday stay for me down south. Firewood was wet. Not great.
Absolutely loved the cottage, jacuzzi and sauna (must admit I didn't use the sauna). Gardens etc kept spick n span. My gripe.... I was awoken from my lazy Sunday arvo snooze in this private retreat, with the front door open, listening to the birds, reading a book,........by the owner rocking up to the front door unannounced (could have rang or texted me)..... to yell out "excuse me... you haven't seen anyone wondering around here have you??" I explained I was just having a lay down. He stated that someone in another cottage was missing their laptop. What that had to do with me I have no idea. Within five minutes of disturbing me unannounced and prancing about...... he had a phone call from the silly people ... they had found their laptop.. by the way its a retreat... leave you're laptop elsewhere.. He also was looking in the back window of my car directly prior to the phone call telling him its OK they found the laptop. Not a good feeling actually. Spoiled my stay and trust me... I didn't need it. Bummer!!!! 🙂↕️

We stayed in the Spa Cottage at Mudstone Spa Retreat. The outdoor spa, surrounded by the forest, is absolute the best of this cottage, surrounded by the forest. What did we like about the cottage? the outdoor spa, of course, and the sauna, which is inside, next to the living area. We were greatly surprised to see a small bbq at the front, so cooking watching the forest was also very pleasant. What we didn't like? inside is too eclectic. Plenty of room for improvement. The lighting is quite poor. All the living area is in one room, so, the view from the bed is not the best, you are literally looking at the kitchen bench, it could be the end of the romance. Dusty shelves and chipped and cracked crockery didn't help either. Overall I'd say it needs a little bit of attention.

Cosy and comfortable in the executive suite. Privacy was good. Made great use of the large bath, jacuzzi & sauna. Had the best night sleep in the large soft bed. Perfect place to relax and get away without the kids. Playing with the friendly dog was a bonus. Would return in a heartbeat.

If you are looking for somewhere to truly get away from it all this is it. So incredibly peaceful and quiet. Full of rustic charm. Beautifully secluded. Outdoor private jacuzzi was wonderful. A very nice touch was having the fireplace set ready to light when we walked in - after a long drive was a nice surprise - very welcoming!

What a lovely, secluded and well appointed little retreat, ideal for us as a couple wanting to rest, recharge and reconnect. The spa in the early evening with unseasonal rain falling around the roof, sipping a glass of bubbles while our dinner cooked gently in the slow cooker... perfect. Slow start mornings with beacon and eggs on the BBQ, sitting on the front deck and breathing in the silence broken by birds song - followed by a session in the infrared sauna to let the heat soak into my bones. Completely lovely. Thanks for having us!
