Just wonderful...if a bit tricky to find in the dark! I chose one of the suites as a way of seeing a part of Australia that I had not prevously visited and to unwind/de-jetlag after the direct flight to Perth. The suite (I had the Executive) was superly furnished and equipped and looked glorious in the early autumn light. If you want a retreat from the world without compromising on comfort and well being, Mudstones was designed for you. It would get six stars if I had the option!

Amazing location and facilities. Would definitely stay again. Service was fantastic. Two beautiful staffies that came for breakfast Saturday morning and the bed was super comfy. Spa was private and just the right temperature

So picture this… You’re driving through the Kari forest to get to your own private little cottage completely secluded and nestled amongst a tropical jungle paradise. You jump out the car and notice the peaceful sounds of birds and wind flowing through the trees … nothing else. It’s freezing as you go to get the bags out of the car, but you notice smoke coming out of your chimney that has been lovingly pre lit by the hosts. You find your little pathway leading you through tropical ferns that take you to your own porch that is fully equipped with a bbq, wood, couches, table and chairs and a lovely personalised welcome letter attached to the door. You turn the handle and immediately feel the warmth coming through and the warm scents of sandalwood incense that is burning. The dim lighting makes it feel as if you’ve taken a step back in time and you instantly feel you can relax mentally and physically. You’re scanning the cottage and notice immediately the gorgeous clean sauna for some light skin therapy and toxin release. Then the beautiful open king sized bedroom with chest drawers, rails and bedside tables to really make you feel at home as you unpack. The kitchenette also fully equipped with loads of thoughtful complementaries. You’re looking around wondering where the rest is …and then you find the door handle camouflaged in the antique accents of the cottage. You slide the heavy door to find another slice of heaven with a section dedicated to a massive standing bath laced with ancient bath salts and organic ammenities to provide a private spa therapy experience.. directly opposite is the beautiful bathroom with an open shower fitted with a waterfall head. And then, just when you think that’s incredible enough, the best part.. Another huge heavy door holds the windows which give you a peak of the paradise that awaits outside. You eagerly slide it open and are taken to Bali. Ferns over hanging the private deck that leads you to your eden of ultimate restoration. A pre heated jet loaded spa awaits you as you witness the steam rising into the crisp air. A convenient shower nearby with cold and hot settings for all seasons. Sheltered by a wooden hut you are surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature and the forest..

Relaxing, peaceful, technology free weekend away. Time to enjoy what’s important.... full of warmth, privacy, and the sounds of nature. Such an enjoyable stay thank you. With everything you would need to unwind, from a quiet space to read to a warm spa to enjoy a local glass. From a spot on nature’s doorstep to comfy slippers after a winter bush walk. Seemless stay at Mudstone. We will be back

We stayed 3 nights in the Morroccan Room for my birthday - the place feels luxurious and soo comfy. we came in winter and arriving at night to a warm room was so uplifting to the spirits having had a long drive. love this part of the forest. we come to this part of the sw alot but have stayed in other accommodation - our usual was booked and my husband found us mudstone - he didnt disappoint me as usual and I would have to say this place tops my list of fav places we have stayed at. Close to wineries and all the usual fare, but we just drove in to pemby for the local pub. we hike alot and this place is close to good hikes in the area or just a nice walk through the bush - also near the karri valley resort where you can walk around the lake there too. the only thing missing is a masseusse to give massages after a big days hike.. theres none in town! :) Id come back to mudstone again for sure!

Beautiful location, great amenities and features overall, just a few small annoyances. Comfy and warm bed, great sauna and spa, great bath and shower, wildlife on your doorstep. Only disadvantages, no tongs for the BBQ, BBQ needs a clean underneath as build up prevents in heating up on half the plate, light in kitchen is too big and therefore low and you hit your head each time you walk past. Overall fantastic, Downs would not deter me from visiting again.

We stayed in the Spa Cottage at Mudstone Spa Retreat. The outdoor spa, surrounded by the forest, is absolute the best of this cottage, surrounded by the forest. What did we like about the cottage? the outdoor spa, of course, and the sauna, which is inside, next to the living area. We were greatly surprised to see a small bbq at the front, so cooking watching the forest was also very pleasant. What we didn't like? inside is too eclectic. Plenty of room for improvement. The lighting is quite poor. All the living area is in one room, so, the view from the bed is not the best, you are literally looking at the kitchen bench, it could be the end of the romance. Dusty shelves and chipped and cracked crockery didn't help either. Overall I'd say it needs a little bit of attention.

Highly would recommend Mudstone treat to anyone! If your looking to have a couples getaway this is the place to go! My partner and I stayed in the villa romantica for two nights and it was amazing! Nothing you could fault. The bed was warm and so comfy! I loved the deck the outside bath and also the double shower! Do recommend making yourself a coffee with the coffee machine provided in the morning running the bath and watching and listening to the birds in the trees! The fire pit area was lovely, really had a Bali vibe to it, was awesome and to find the next day there was new kindling chopped up for us was a lovely service! I read the reviews and saw there was a staffy! And sure enough I got to meet her the first night, such a cutie! Thank you so much Mudstone for the beautiful relaxing weekend!

Such a beautiful location in Pemberton that we had to go back again to Mudstone Spa Retreat. The Executive Suite is simply fabulous in every way. We are coming back to this place for the third time and many more.

Nestled in the forest near the Dave Evans bicentennial tree is an oasis of style and serenity. We stayed for 2 nights in the Moroccan Suite, with amazing styling including a king size wooden sleigh bed. The price was very reasonable for the quality of accomodation and the setting, down an unsealed road, surrounded by nature - tall trees, tiny wrens and kangaroos, ensuring an unforgettable experience. As it allowed self catering, we feasted on fresh marron from Forest Fresh Marron, with truffle ponzu sauce from Truffle Hill and a local sauvignon blanc from 10 Chains. This area is a gourmet's delight and the accomodation first rate.
