We have a yearly visit to Mandarah as my granddaughters love it there and have stayed at other resorts. This year we chose the Mandarah motel and apartments as the photos look great , especially the pools, which the girls love.
On our first day there we went to the pool, there was no one else there and the girls were enjoying a swim. A woman came over and chatted, she did not introduce herself, but seems like a member of staff , and was wearing some badge on a lanyard, she was basically giving us a pep talk about pool etiquette and behaviour, ie no jumping in, no swearing, considerations of other guests, I didn’t have a issue with this as I don’t like bad behaviour , we followed advice and the girls did not once jump in the pool. We enjoyed our first day and evening, however the 2 nd evening there was a party in the apartment adjoining ours. We were unable to sit outside as our outside area was next to the party, loud music and drinking which went on until midnight, then continued inside the apartment with arguing and swearing until 3 am.
We did notify staff around 9 pm, not as a complaint at that time , but asked if there was another apartment as we had children, unfortunately there wasn’t .
I then advised staff and manager when we checked out in the morning, also there was a party in the day which isn’t a problem however we were unable to use the facilities tennis / crazy golf, then the party in the evening together ruined our 2 nd day , had we not have been travelling from overseas I’d have put the girls in the car and left .
The manager did however tell us that the women who was giving us behaviour advice had no right to !!!! people / kids are expected to have fun in the pool. She wanted us to write a email about this , she was more concerned about the women giving advice then the party / noise / swearing until 3 am.
On top of this I happened to move the cushion on the sofa and there was so much filth underneath.
On a positive note the pool is lovely, the location is great, and we love Mandarah, would we stay at the motel and apartments again NO !!! Sorry guys

We have stayed here alot over the years and can say the outside area is THE BEST it has ever been with a fortune having been spent in paved areas and flower beds. No more mini golf which is good as the area is fully paved now making it much safer. Didnt see any Drug Dealers and never have. They have the BEST RESTAURANT in town which is why we stay here. Yes the rooms need updating BUT for the price you cannot complain as most of the rooms are privately owned. Our room did not have a extractor fan working in the bathroom or an outside light working at rear but thats not the end of the world

Stayed for 1 night with my mum and 9 year old son.
Upon opening the door to the unit, there was a smell, like stale cigarettes/old people.
Wasn’t the cleanest place which is a shame because it definitely has potential to be great. Shower head could be better, they need the big rainwater shower heads and glass screens instead of curtains. Units as a whole need to be updated.
Having said that, looks like they are doing improvements around the pool area.

As a travelling photographer, I've travelled to some of the poorest most dangerous places in America. I've stayed in some pretty questionable accomodation... but nothing compares to this sh*thole. The room looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. As soon as my family and I arrived we could smell a strong stretch of old wine, urine and cigarettes. Everything was stained... I mean everything. The carpets, the coach, the walls... everything. It was like someone had a party/sex fest the night before and the cleaners looked at the room and gave up. I don't know what the stains were, but they were gnarly. How they claim that this is 3 stars is insanity. I've stayed in dives that had one star rating that were cleaner and a bearable place to lay my head. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to stay in an overpriced cesspool of filth.

We booked an apartment called 7 Heaven on Booking.com in the complex. Room was spotlessly clean with all the facilities we needed. Unit was on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool and tennis court. Excellent value for money. Laundry facilities available with disc supplied by caretaker below our unit. Very friendly and helpful. Ideally located to main town areas and restaurants. Very secure gateway to property. Highly recommended

The Motel was lovely, so clean and nicely furnished. Not a big room, but enough room for a lovely double bed, couch and table, mini fridge, tv, cutlery and plates, and nice nice bathroom and shower. Would definitely stay here again, and recommend to friends 😊 thanks guys for the hospitality.

3 issues:
1) unfriendly personnel who did not bother to smile and give a warm welcome when I tried to check-in (very unusual unfriendly attitude for Aussies). Felt he was being a racist (I'm Chinese) because he was very friendly to a Caucasian couple.
2) they could not find our booking and did not prepare our rooms which we made through Agoda and received our hotel voucher. Ended up staying at 3 separate buildings for the 3 rooms booked.
3) our booking form indicated No. of rooms booked:2 and room type: 2 room apartment. Personnel insisted that we had booked just 1 2-room apartment and tried to argue with us and requested to see payment voucher. My goodness! We had to search our emails for the hotel confirmation from Agoda and after he verified it with someone else in the office, he said ok they will based it on the hotel confirmation email and not the hotel voucher. When we tried to explain the no. of rooms thingy, he tried to shut us up by saying, "it's ok. Will proceed." Come on. If he has made a mistake because he doesn't know how to read the hotel voucher, at least apologise for it! Felt very unwelcome. Disappointed because we had stayed there last year and liked the place a lot (previously served by a lady) and so we came back and book the same accom only to be treated like '2nd class citizens'. Won't ever go back again and will advise my family members and friends to do likewise.

My family and i stayed at The Mandurah Gates Resort for a break. On our drive down to Mandurah from Perth we received a phone call, informing us the resort reception closed at 2pm and if we did not arrive before then we would have to wait until 6pm to check in. We were told upon booking that checkin was from 2pm.

We arrived in the nick of time. We were then informed of a $200 deposit. We paid the deposit and the room rates (2 nights stay) . We drove around to the parking area.

We were suprised our room entrance was from a dark smelly hallway. The door looked like it had been kicked in and tacked back together. We opened the door and were extremely disappointed. At first glance the room had seen better days. It was almost like the rundown apartment from the movie Coming to America., without the stray cats and rats and chalk outline of a body. The carpet had stains which looked simliar to large blood stains. There were phonebooks without any phone. The phone among other things were possibly taken from what looked like an old crime scene. It was as if the crime scene tape was removed and we entered to stay.

The room had a musky not ventilated smell. Even when i tried to air it out my toddler kept leaving the room as the dodgy flysrceen had no lock and slid right open.
The bed smelt like someone had slept on it without a sheet change. The lamps beside the bed were blown. The only entertainment was the television with local channels.
The bathroom was disgusting and we were even supplied insect spray so we could combat the ant infestation in the bathroom and outiside the room. I thought i was on holiday not taking a job as pest control for a rundown hotel.

The cleanest place for my children to sleep was in the porta cot i had brought from home. I even had to go to Kmart to buy a blowup mattress for my four year old.

The pool was not heated, there were no other guests on our first day, the second day a family were spotted and shared our disappointment.

We spent our weekend avoiding our hotel room as it was a disgrace. Working in the hotel industry I do not recommend anyone to stay as it was depressing and rundown. Given a refurbishment and new mangement this place could of been great. Unfortunately this will not ever be a full operational hotel as they are selling off the rooms and apartments privately.
Shocking stay, Shocking hotel, Shocking Service. Not a family orientated place to stay

We stayed here for one night Sunday 6th April. Reception not manned for checking in and out. Checked in by the person behind the bar, who at first could not find our reservation, eventually we were given room 34.

We were busy for next couple of hours so you will understand why we did not complain straight away. We unloaded the car and as we had been travelling for a while went to the bar to get a snack, not the best beef steak sandwich in the world, but we were hungry. We then went for a drive around Mandurah to see what was on offer. On our return we quickly changed into our swimmers and sat by the pool for an hour or so, the pool is the best thing about the hotel.

When we went back to our room my husband made a cup of tea/coffee and went to sit on the bed that is when he noticed lipstick on the pillow, he then pulled back the sheets to find pubic hair on the sheets. He immediately went down to reception.

Still no one on reception so he spoke to a person coming from the back, which was one of the people in the bar earlier. She told him, she did not think the room had been cleaned as it was on her cleaning rota, she then told my husband that when she said this to the person who had checked us in, her response was "well they have not complained yet". When she knew that room had not been cleaned something should have been done as soon as possible. They should not have waited till we complained. What would have happened had we not noticed the lipstick, they would have just left us in that room. The person my husband spoke to was even in the bar whilst we were having our sandwich, she must have known then as the person who checked us told her what she had done re checking us in.

We were then moved to the room next door. We would Definately not stay here again.

Haven't even arrived yet and a call to ask for additional towels was met with disinterest and advice that there would be an additional charge. As return guests I asked that this be waived. Was promised a call back after checking but needed to call back myself and was told additional charge would stand. Person seemed uncaring, hid behind management policy and even challenged the need for additional towels (I wanted 2) citing what she believed I did at home with my towels and claiming I did not require two towels for an adult. Unimpressed....4th or 5th visit, may be the last I think.
