Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Room 11 was not renovated & we felt let down. The lounge was placed at the end of the queen bed & trying to watch TV seated on the lounge resulted in having to turn one's head to see the screen high up on a side wall. Very poor room design in this regard. The shower recess was very dirty: mold on tiles & the drain needed a good dose of bleach. The towels we were given were tatty and worn - should have been disposed of years ago ! The outdoor area could have been cleaned from cobwebs and dirt . The outdoor tiles could have been cleaned as well. The figs all over the driveway were hazardous & this area should be swept on a regular basis. Likewise, the gazebo was unkempt and didn't entice one to sit there & relax. The front verge badly needed mowing and the community newspapers that were littering this area needed to be disposed of. This motel is in a beautiful position - within walking distance to the beach - but it appears that little is done to enhance the property and ensure that guests are appreciated and made to feel welcome. If the owners paid a little more attention to detail this place could be a winner. Would not return but hopefully the owners will take these suggestions on board and give the place the due care it deserves, along with their patrons.

This is our 2nd stay here and each time in the Family Room for 5. This year we were given a 'better' room as there were proper beds for 5 but only 4 of us made the trip. This room however, seemed slightly smaller than the other. Last year, my daughter joined us and the 5th person had to sleep on a sofa bed. Nevertheless, the rates are very reasonable for a family of 5 whereby a fridge, microwave and cutlery/crockery are provided. Walkable distance to the jetty for us too. Owner is flexible and accommodating. If nobody is wanting your room, he allows late check-outs. Will come back again next year !

My partner and I had a lovely stay here. The air con made it nice and cosy on a cool night in. We had takeaway’s delivered From the Great Wall and there was nice bowls, plates and cutlery provided to eat it with and a small dining table and chairs. Often we make our own breakfast which I took with us as we don’t want to eat out three times a day but on this occasion we spotted a full cooked breakfast for $16 pp and couldn’t resist. It was very nice and plenty! Friendly staff and very reasonably priced accommodation will bring us back again. Also enjoyed nice hot showers.

We take Room 21, a triple at the front of the old homestead (in preference to the motel units). It has shared bathroom but there's easy access to the front verandah for lounging. It is just right for us. We love the old style ambience.

This is a place of two halves! I stayed in the motel style rooms in the garden area. They appeared newly refurbished and no complaints. Room was very light and clean with a little kitchenette and tea/coffee making facilities as well as a small patio area. Beds were comfortable and enjoyed the spa bath! The actual main building had a lovely verendah and the reception area was very quaint, however I had a little look round the downstairs and the breakfast area was a little soulless and it appears they are still working on the rooms in main building.Hopefully they will be able to renovate the rest of the inside areas as could be a place full of character!

Lovely building in a great location 2 blocks back from beautiful Busselton Beach. 10/15 min walk to the Jetty & beachfront bars & restaurants, but after dark in March was dimly lit walk back & very very quiet. Staff were helpful. Was extremely clean & well maintained, comfy beds. Could hear noise from outside if there was any, but a really great option & great value for money.

My room was freshly renovated and perfectly adequate in every way. Bed was comfy, fridge was cold and the shower was hot.
It’s great value for money and walking distance to the Main Street, shops and the beach.
What let it down was the reception area.
I walked into reception to the smell of something resembling a fish and chip shop deep fryer. The front desk was a mess. The guy who gave me my keys was polite but dressed in a dirty shirt, tracksuit pants and thongs.
It was quite a shame as everything from then on was great.
Still the best value in Busso 👍

Whilst I was a bit unsure as to what I would find when I booked friends into this accommodation, I need not have worried. The rooms, while basic motel style, were clean and well stocked but maybe the towels could be renewed. The host, Toai, who has just taken over the motel, was incredible. Nothing was a bother to him but maybe he could do with a little help!

Spotlessly clean accommodation, friendly owners, easy check in and out. Bathroom was modern and functional with hot water in good supply. Close to all amenities but far enough away to be quiet.
It was everything we wanted, would book again.

My Wife and I have just spent a great six days at Busselton Bay Motel. We were also there last March and wrote a review on our stay at that time.
We made a very late booking and could not be accommodated in Unit 3 as before, however, Dave & Julie ( the proprietors) set us up in unit 11 which is normally a family unit for 5-6 people so we were really spoilt for room. The sleeping, living and shower facilities are meticulously clean and comfortable for this budget accommodation
We have now been there on three or four occasions and feel comfortable and secure. We will certainly return again.
We ate out for lunch each day including Albie's Hotel lunch special (great $16 value),Busselton Rice Buffet (Chinese) "Yummy",The Beach front takeaway cafe (near the Jetty) and The Cod Shop (fish & chips) "both delicious" and Jesters (pies and sausage rolls) "tasty". They were all meals at reasonable cost. Time permitting,I am sure we would have tried out more food venues.
We are a mature age couple and just enjoy the serene nature of Busselton and the easy walking afforded by the flat terrain and the magnificent beach front superbly maintained by the Council.
