Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have just stayed at Lilacs and it was fabulous, I was so pleased with our cottage, it was perfect, clean, very comfortable , and there was nothing that was missing, just perfect! And on site parking.. it was peaceful and in such a great position close to everything.. thank you so much to the lovely owners, who went out of their way for us as we couldn’t make our original booking.. definitely be back and can’t recommend highly enough ..

Location & size good but needs a good clean. With COVID concerns cleanliness is a big issue. There is a notice to register in & to help the cleaners. We had to wash the cups (stained inside) & cutlery before use. The lounge is old & needs either replacing or a clean.

After unexpectedly needing hospitalization I completely forgot to inform of my need to cancel my accommodation, I received an email asking for payment and after explaining I was in fact in hospital and was unable to make payment or have a holiday, I received the most unexpected abusive email from the owners of Lilacs Waterfront Villas and Cottages. ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING!!!

The accommodation was really comfortable. The bed had crisp linen - there was plenty of kitchenware, towels etc. we had a spa bath as well as a separate bathroom with amazingly hot water (with great pressure). The little verandah overlooked the lawns/ playground and through to the bay. Good TV reception, comfy couch. Reverse cycle air conditioner. It is not new - but what it lacks in newness it makes up for in charm. We loved it. We will be back.

We visited Albany for Targa West event with our son and his family. Our cottage was just perfectly set up for multi generational visit and Annette was so helpful and accomodating nothing was too much trouble. Young children had a small safe secure garden and a playground We could take walks along the bay. Cottage was clean comfortably furnished had every convenience. We will certainly be back and thank you so much for all your help. Highly recommend

Only a short stay but a great one. Had a two storey/2 brm/2 bthrm unit. Definitly easier with 2 bathrooms. Was very clean and well stocked. Comfortable beds and heating works well. Well located, easy to get into town or to other attractions. Also a great walk along the harbour. Would happily return to Lilacs.

We really enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome. Frenchmans Bay is a great spot situated between Albany town centre and some of the areas best tourist attractions. The owners really take care of their guests.

When we arrived as the weather was good we thought we would sit outside, then we saw the thick cobwebs on the chairs. The barbecue didn't have a gas bottle the next one was fithly and no starter We then thought we would cook inside then saw the state if the friying pab, gross! Do not, stay in cabin 8,the bed and couch will hurt your back, hopefully after our feedback they will improve the cleaning. I have done many reviews and luckily none as bad as this.

This accomodation is tired & needs attention. There is no check in staff, tired/unkept gardens. Room smelt musty. Walls are thin & you can hear your neighbours. Located on a busy road. The pictures looked of the chalets & garden looked beautiful on the website, but this was not the case when we arrived.

We had a cottage with some water views, but noticed that there are several cottages that face towards the main road, so be sure you are getting one with a water view. Ours was old and rather bare, but well maintained, with a good kitchen for self catering. The bed was big and comfortable. The bathroom was old but functional and clean enough. The property has a grassed area which goes past a public walking/cycling track down to the water's edge, with a view through trees. There is no beach here, but you get a good view across the tidal flats to the main port area. It is a short drive into Albany shops, but there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance. There is a coin operated laundry on site, and communal barbecues. The one nearest our cottage needed a good clean. There is no on-site reception - you pick up the keys from a box and there is a number to ring if you have any problems.
