Booked Golden pebble for 1 night stay as I had an event near by and it was closest and seemed reasonably priced and listed as a 4 star hotel and I have been to their yum cha restaurant many times with family.
Go for the food not the rooms. The room was pretty basic, with a hotel guide/ room service menu that was dirty and sticky. And was able to scratch off some dirt that was on the little table in the room
The couch in the room is basic and looks like they got a couch cover from aldi to make it look better.
Hole in the bathroom where the bathtub is. And the pillows were pretty basic. Scuff markings everywhere and the elevator to go to your rooms has people’s names and words carved into the wood
I knew I had gotten a good price with how cheap it was and listing as a 4star hotel, but it’s definitely you get what you pay for
This is not 4 stars and not luxury
If you want a basic room and just need a bed then sure this is the place for you

On a business trip, opted to stay close to facility rather than city.
For a suburban hotel, the Golden Pebble is a good choice. Rooms are clean and refurbished. Two main options in close walking distance to eat and check in/out was fast.
I did however find it difficult to locate a power point to charge phone, laptop etc

We stayed at the Golden Pebble for three nights to attend a funeral in Melbourne nearby. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the rooms excellent and service very good. The restaurant at the hotel is Chinese and we had one meal there. Food was good and the service very good. As an alternative the Knox Club is just across the road and it has excellent meals at reasonable prices and you can charge those back to your hotel room if you wish. Breakfast was reasonable without being anything special. Shower could do with a few more rails for towels etc.The hotel is apparently a 4.5 star but I think 4 stars would be more accurate. We enjoyed our stay.

The check in and check out went smoothly. They will ask for a $100 bond and release at check out. Hotel is not affiliated with the restaurant. The carpet of our room felt sticky and the shower/bathtub drain had issues. I was essentially washing my legs in dirty water or waited in the cold for the water the drain. You can hear everything outside our room from people knocking and talking down the hall and traffic outside (our room faced the main road). This did not feel like a 4 star hotel.

I checked in and checked out same afternoon. Room not clean, cobwebs across the room, sticky carpet, filthy windows. Very, very basic, no toaster of microwave and two cups, no mugs, no cutlery. Old looking tea, coffee and laughable biscuits. I was told I’d be able to see my car below in the car park, not true, views of the hills, not true. The restaurant is Chinese food only. No one helped me with the trolley from my car to the smelly elevator. I ended up staying at the lovely rooms at the Burvale, 300% better. Oh, and don’t go out at night if you’re staying at the Golden Pebble, the restaurant patrons will take your spot and then you’ll have to park in the basement, if it’s open.

Staff were friendly, room was clean, check in and check out were painless. Bed is comfortable, and being able to have a soak in the bath was a lovely treat too.
They even called when we'd accidentally left some medication in the fridge so we could pop back and pick it up.

Joyce on checkin and during our stay was bubbling with smiles and happiness.
Fantastic service and communication always.
Joyce also went above and beyond as traffic controller with the amount of cars due to customers and restaurant.
Room service meal from restaurant was yummy.

I love this place. I travel a lot for work and the Golden Pebble is my go-to. It’s comfortable, affordable and the service is great. Reception literally just knocked on my door with red wine after seeing me walk in after a long shift. I appreciate them so much.

I stay at the Pebble regularly for work. The service is happy and helpful, the rooms are always clean and comfortable and without fail, I leave relaxed and well rested. I would recommend the Golden Pebble for anyone wanting a nice quiet stay in Melbourne’s eastern burbs.

We stayed at the Golden Pebble for a family reunion and one in which my husband would have to work during our stay. After searching online we chose this property because it was close to family and advertised having a fitness and business center. The first day we arrived, my husband went down to use the fitness center and found that the equipment was broken. He later asked for the business center in which to work and was told there was no business center. The second day we noticed that they were serving breakfast in the dining room. We went into the dining room and noticed we were on a signin list and asked if breakfast was included. We were told it was although I am not sure the lady understood what we were asking. I have to tell you that it was by far the worst breakfast I've ever had and you don't get any choice of what you want (number of eggs, etc.). It was truly terrible. When we went to check out, we were told that the breakfast was NOT included and we were charged $15 for each breakfast. When I tried to explain what had happened, I was cut short and told that breakfast was not ever included. I was in a hurry so I let it go. But, honestly, we've never been treated so rudely by a hotel. In fact I have never written a bad review about a hotel before because every place we have stayed in the past has always provided excellent customer service and will at least apologize if there is a misunderstanding. These people didn't even bother to apologize. We will not be staying there again.

Response from Evan S, Manager at Golden Pebble Melbourne
Responded 4 Apr 2015
This is a repeat of the previous bad review put on Tripadvisor as payback for not being able to bully staff into giving a free breakfast. This second review proves the lie that the guest did NOT buy a package which included breakfast when they say,"We went into the dining room and noticed we were on a signin list and asked if breakfast was included. We were told it was although I am not sure the lady understood what we were asking". This is libellous and TripAdvisor should not let their good reputation be sullied by this kind of thing. As we said in your previous attempt to cause harm to our business from the other side of the world, PLEASE, do not come back. You have proven beyond doubt what sort of person you are.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. We are a disabled person friendly hotel. All levels have lift access including the car park and we have disable friendly rooms available with disabled shower facilities. Please specify a disabled facility room when booking. We look forward to providing you with a relaxing, stress free stay.
Hello and thank you for your enquiry. Children are welcome at Golden Pebble. Our advertised policy is that one child can share the bed with their parent(s). In reality it is up to the guest as we would not be inspecting for extra children. The only wish with children is that they enjoy themselves and are reasonably well mannered - it's fun staying in a hotel, right?. Our rooms have Queen sized or King sized beds plus a sofa bed. If an extra bed needs to be made up as a sofa bed or as a rollaway bed there is an additional charge of $45 per night. Also a twin room can be made into a triple with a sofa bed or rollaway. I hope this helps answer your question. Our team can always help with whatever your needs are :)
