The rooms are with windows that can open and some with balconies, bright, clean with meal making facilities, fridge plus freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Personal laundry facilities on all floors. Prahran food market across road, 24 hour Woolies down lane. Easy access to City and NGV/Botanic gardens via regular 72 tram. Loads of cafe in mornings and bistros at night.

The hotel is a unique building with interesting art pieces. The place is generally clean and pretty quiet but some fixups may be required like the wallpaper on the 6th floor and some of the fitness center equipment. Otherwise, place was clean and beautiful. We had two rooms and virtually had everything we needed. Check in and check out was quick and easy and Rose and her team did amazing as she gave out great recommendations and assistance. The location, nearby transportation and great eateries. Just beware the bathroom has no locks, which was unconventional and slightly shocking. Also the bathroom is all glass that is blurred and has an art piece on to block most of it, but one of my members did find it too much. So prepare yourself for that. Besides the unique situation of the bathrooms, the hotel was fit for our stay, amazing with a touch of unconventional that made travelling intriguing.

Having stayed at this hotel multiple nights at least twice a year for the last 10+years, with the exception of the past 3 because of the great location, service and vibe, this time it felt as if the Cullen had lost its mojo.
The restaurant/bar which was apparently run by an external company was closed and the exterior looked awful; the windows in my room obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a long time; room cleaning and servicing is now done on request- but even then they didn’t empty my bin or make sure my soaps etc were topped up; no minibar/snacks as there had always been; no signature hotel scent.
In short, what had always been a lively and slightly quirky hotel seems to be down on its luck with maybe the bean-counters trying to cut costs rather than understanding why it has always been popular.

A fantastic location, close to many great places to eat and shop. The noise from the pub across the road on a Saturday night /Sunday morning woke 4/5 of us up. The opaque windows in the bathroom are horrible, particularly when you are sharing with family members. Standing in hallways to allow privacy for showers and toilet use is not what I expect from a hotel with this rating. The bedside tables are impractical and appear to have been designed for aesthetic purposes rather than practical use. When we asked for our room to be cleaned ( a 4 night stay) it was lovely to come back to a clean and tidy room, however the bathroom design does not allow for towels to dry properly. I would not stay here again unless I was by myself

We loved the location of this hotel, the size of the rooms and staff were great. We realise that staffing is an issue at the moment however our room was not cleaned to a satisfactory level. it hadn't been vacuumed prior to us taking the room. Once we noticed this I guess that prompted us to look ore closely at the cleaning and realised that the cleaning was substandard all through the room. The edges of the carpet against the wall were dusty and messy, behind the entry hadn't been cleaned in some time, the lounge was covered in spills and generally soiled and had actually been moved to cover mess on the carpet. This led us to wonder how clean the bathroom and toilet were?
Whilst we understand that staffing is tight at the moment we don't think it is reasonable to charge guests a full room rate and then deliver substandard conditions. I would suggest closing off a portion of rooms until you have the staff to service them.
This was a pity because we mostly enjoyed our stay. The room size is really good, the linen and bed was good and the location superb.

We stayed here for the 2022 Grand Prix. The location is great if you have GA Park Passes as it's about a 15 minute walk to the eastern side of the track (Gate 8) or you can get the 72 tram. It's also close to restaurants and cafes around the Commercial Road/Grattan Street area and shops on Chapel Street. Bed was nice and comfy and the Byredo toiletries were a nice touch.

I do feel like the rooms are probably due for a remodel, a few things were starting to look a bit worn or damaged (cupboard doors, freezer door in fridge, slow draining bathroom sink) - nothing disastrous but something to consider. One thing that does drive me crazy about this hotel is that the bathroom walls are just frosted glass, which don't afford a lot of privacy especially with the light on. It's probably supposed to be edgy/subversive and allows the art on the glass to be showcased, but it's really just inconvenient and awkward. We got into the habit of looking away or going onto the balcony when the other person was in the bathroom.

I also feel like the rooms could do with a good deep clean. We found some items left over from previous guests under/beside the bed and the carpet and sofa were a bit allergy-inducing. Room services were by request only due to COVID issues/staffing which is totally understandable, but perhaps a regular contactless delivery of extra supplies could still be done every couple of days (e.g. toiletries, tea, coffee, toilet paper). This way guests wouldn't have to bother the front desk every time something is needed.

Also wondering about the restaurant downstairs, Golda (used to be Gramercy) - it seemed to be closed for our whole stay so not sure if this is permanent or temporary? It would have been nice to have a second option for dinner directly downstairs in addition to HuTong.

Overall though, a convenient stay and good location for the Grand Prix weekend.

Our family had a short stay at the Cullen and we had a great time. The hotel is slightly quirky and in a fantastic location - short stroll to Chapel Street, and over the road from the Prahran Markets. The rooms were bigger than expected with a comfy bed, small kitchenette, yet a relatively small bathroom for the size of the room. Has everything you need for a nice stay. The dining options were limited in the hotel, but not an issue with so much on your doorstep. Parking was convenient and reasonably priced under the hotel. Very nice stay was had and we will come back in the future if in the area - highly recommended

We chose to book @ The Cullen because of the 1 x Open Plan Suite.
The Open Plan Suite offered us these elements important for our stay
1) Open Plan Suite
2) Top Floor with Sweeping Views
3) Bath Tub
We did not get the room type that we booked for - so no Suite, no Top Floor Views No bathtub. Normally we are not a family to complain but this had a big impact on our family time away and we feel really let down .

We tried to resolve at the property by
a) as soon as we entered the incorrect rooms my wife went down stairs to discuss and seek resolution - "no suites available"
b) we asked if they could monitor on Saturday and see if we could get the room we booked for even just one night...."no suites available"

We are now in contact to request a refund

I was opposite, checked in very early. They were very understanding, kept my luggage stored and gave me drink voucher to use while I waited for my room to be ready. It is a 24 hour desk so I would be surprised if you couldn't do late checkin.
