We booked a double room with shared bathroom and balcony. After reading reviews, I wasn’t expecting much, but our room was clean and it had the unexpected bonus of an in-room basin and mirror, so you could brush your teeth and get ready for a busy day in the privacy of your room. The room was a good size and the bed was fine. I took my own pillow, what was there didn’t look great, but they were probably ok. The only downer for us was that the hotel had live bands playing until one in the morning, and they are VERY close to the rooms. Location was great, we managed to find a park near the front, and for what we paid, it was fine. Take heavy duty earplugs if there’s a band playing.

Had dinner at lovely old hotel. The menu was very basic, but prices were reasonable and a sidebar is available. Service was friendly and the beer was lovely. There were 3 different chairs on our table - metal, new and older which looked strange. There is also an outdoor eating/ music area.
The meals themselves were ok but don't expect sensational. Good for a meal but not the fine dining experience.

This place is in a great location - right at the roundabout of the main street. Plenty of great cafes and restaurants within walking distance. The accommodation has been renovated. The keyless entry was great... no need to carry a key or swipe card.

On the downside, we both thought that the bed was uncomfortable & the communal shower was awkward... it necessitated getting changed in the bathroom area because the shower cubicle was too small.

Well what a first day. We got to our room upstairs ( upstairs, this maybe a con for some but I managed with my bad knee) we are staying at The Star Port Fairy we were blown away it’s huge and clean and comfortable. We are here for three nights at only $120 a night. The one bed apartment has own bathroom kitchen and balcony on Bank Street.
The Queen bed is so comfortable there is a large TV but still looking for the remote haaa I think the last tenants may have knocked it off. We have managed old school but are not planning to watch to much tv. The room is decorated tastefully and bright with afternoon sun.
We had drinks on the balcony which is opposite the main shopping strip. This place is in the heart of Port Fairy you can walk to anywhere within minutes from your accommodation. We are here for a midweek stay in autumn so it’s not really busy in town. We had arvo drinks on the balcony before we went down to the oublic bar and met Jessie the barman what a lovely young man he was looking after us all night. it was happy hour 5-7 and a can of JD and coke and a pot of draught was $9 there were a couple of guys playing some sensational music live and dinner was great I almost cried I was so happy.
We are now back in our room and it is 9 pm the music is good from down stairs we can hear it but I don’t mind and will still sleep. Music went off at 930 pm but it is Tuesday night I would expect later in the week to be longer into the night.
I think if you like silence it may be a problem.
I am so happy with the whole experience having a ball. All I can say is I am very reluctant to recommend this place too much because I want to stay here every 4 weeks when we go to Portland so I don’t want to make it to popular.
But best night ever

Given the current world events, we decided a hot meal was the only option for lunch today. We chose this establishment as we had eaten there years ago. Pork roast was ordered and when it was delivered, it consisted of 3 slices of fatty pork, 2 small roast potato quarters, some tiny bits of pumpkin and half a small roast onion & gravy. There was a pot of apple sauce straight out of the fridge. To say it was underwhelming and over priced is an understatement. I would not recommend you eat there.

Absolutely disgraceful- all we wanted was a milkshake (on the menu) for our children which was rudely denied because they were too busy to make it.
Then we requested vegetarian meals (on the menu) which again, were unavailable. There were no chips. The drinks were tepid. The staff were rude, so we left without ordering any food for our family of 7 at close to 8pm. #hangryfamily
Thankyou to the local Chinese restaurant who stayed open for us, and single handedly provided our family with delicious cuisine including delicious chippies and a friendly smile.

We ordered fish n chips, Parma and mussels and we all didn’t finish our meals. Soggy fish, dry Parma and mussels without any real flavour. Could have been a bad say but all dishes were very average at best

Went here with my husband, daughter and two small grandchildren for lunch, was seated at a table by a friendly staff member and started looking at the menus. Then all hell broke out in the kitchen between two staff members, who were yelling and throwing the F bomb around without any consideration to patrons, so we got up and left. Act feral if you like but not in public and definitely not in your workplace.
Found a nice little cafe around the corner and enjoyed a lovely meal in a lovely atmosphere.

Disappointing meal experience ….lots of food was ‘off tonight’ and what we finally had was poor quality- greasy calamari with soggy chips although salad was pleasant - one of our group had their calamari with veg which appeared to be frozen mixed veg dumped on the plate….colourless and tasteless…no chips. The ‘boneless pork rib burger’ was tasteless and seemed to be a minced meat patty in a cold bun with coleslaw….meals were around $30 and were very poor quality…..would not eat there again…..plenty of other restaurants in Port Fairy served us excellent food at this price aver the week we were there. Very disappointed.

Great casual dining experience. Can't understand all the negative reviews. We had a very positive experience, food fresh and tasty, meals arrived together and staff attentive and friendly. Even welcomed our son and partner's dog which was main reason we chose this venue.
