Detailed Reviews
I really enjoyed my time in these apartments. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was clean, light and bright. Although the location is not on the beach or river it is very close to the main strip of shops, cafes and restaurants and also walking distance to the beaches and Grifiths island.
The room has a small kitchenette with tea and coffee amenities. The bed was two singles pushed together which were firm but I found very comfortable.
The tap water has a strong flavour so it might be worth bringing water from elsewhere or purchase the bottled water provided in the minibar.
The staff I encountered were not unfriendly but quite blunt.
There is a garage with a motorized roller door to park with each apartment.
Cons: there was no Foxtel and the google chrome cast I bought to watch Netflix did not work due to the WiFi settings (one of the days was 40 degrees). Also the couch is not comfortable for 2 people.
The room was only serviced once during a 3 night stay.

I’ve reviewed The Victoria Apartments before but I can’t recall what I wrote. Needless to say it was a positive review and my opinion has not changed. The contactless check in and check out works perfectly and the standard of accommodation is very high. We got a, greatly appreciated, upgrade to a more spacious upstairs apartment so I definitely can’t complain about value for money. Even without the upgrade, I would have to say that The Victoria Apartments represents the best value for your accommodation dollar in Port Fairy. I would recommend, to anyone in position to do so, that you take a drive down to beautiful Port Fairy and spend a few relaxing days at The Victoria Apartments. Port Fairy, like most small towns that depend on tourism dollars to thrive, is struggling. It would be a tragedy if we were to lose places like Rebecca’s (best Eggs Benedict in the known universe), Randy’s Burgers (to die for) or any of the other world class hospitality and accommodation businesses in this wonderful town, to the current pandemic crisis.

The rooms are nice enough - although the cheap initial build of cupboards is showing with many not closing properly. Our family was there for 4 nights and there was enough of the normal things - dishwashing detergent, washing up detergent, toilet paper, towels - for maybe 2 nights. The property wants you to leave dishes etc clean, but doesn’t give you the tools to do it. We had to go and buy more of everything, including toilet paper. The wifi basically did t work and the TV was intermittent, which is an issue when you are trying to entertain a toddler on a rainy day.

We had a down stairs studio apartment, it was very noisy from the apartment upstairs, due to the wooden floor could could hear every step taken upstairs and on the stairs from the upstairs apartment and every word spoken. The upstairs air-con unit motor was within 300mm from our bedroom window was very noisy. The cleaners did a very poor job, never emptied the bin, didn't wipe any tables or benches, etc. The shower had two metal stubs left from the broken soap/shampoo holders, vanity basin did allow for enough room between the basin and tap to even fit your hands, poor design. There were a number of holes in the walls. All this at $330.00 per night in a 4.5 star room. Never again.

+1
Booked a 1 Bedroom Apartment for 4 nights in November - we requested and were given a ground floor wanting no stairs.
On arrival check in staff friendly and helpful.
Our room was bright looking, clean, tidy, and nicely fitted out. TV worked well. Shower was nice and hot. Bed was too firm for us though.
It was great having an off street lock up garage with internal access and remote.
Location was nice and quiet and a close to walk to the shops and restaurants.
With the street facing ground floor room we could open the lounge door out onto the small patio and to footpath but as there is no key to lock the sliding door from outside, when going out for dinner you still had to exit via the rear and walk around complex- a bit annoying.
We put the please make up room tag on our door but our full rubbish bin never got emptied only fresh towels and bed were done, also annoying.
Overall a nice stay here.

Perfect location right in town, close to all the good places to eat and shop.
The river and beach was within walking distance if you are fit or a short car trip. We had a four night midweek stay in a one bed apartment 17A it was great for us although it was small it had a King bed(a bit firm for us) but still slept well. The ensuite was straight off the bedroom and was updated and clean the shower was hot and pressure great
....I love a good shower. The kitchenette had everything that we needed for our stay. The lockup garage was fabulous with internal entry.
We loved the door that lead out to a patio on Bank Street where we sat on the outdoor setting for happy hour each arvo and chatted to friendly passing locals. We love this but if that is not you then there are apartments with Private courtyards. Even though we were on the Main Street the bedroom was quiet and dark which was great for a good nights sleep. I booked our stay online through the Victoria Apartments website and got a much better deal than the third party sites. Saving about $200 but I’m not sure what the cancellation option was doing it that way. We will be coming here again to stay perfect for us it has been very relaxing. Port Fairy is one of the prettiest friendliest towns to visit.

The location is good. The standard of accommodation is acceptable. What I found annoying is that despite a sign a reception stating the hours that reception would be open on a daily basis, the reception was never attended. They have this intercom button whereby you speak to someone. Communication is terrible.
I stayed there for 5 nights and upon checking in I requested to stay an extra night. I received a voicemail stating that there would be an extra cost. No problems. On the extra day I was told I had to vacate as I had not confirmed I was happy to pay for the extra night. Not sue in what world you expect free accommodation. A simple call from management BEFORE they took another booking for the room I was in was all that was required but they obviously do not care about the residents enough to do that. I have stayed there about 6 times over the years but will not do so ever again.

The one bedroom suite which was allocated to us was very spacious and located in the "back row" on the ground floor which made it away from road traffic noise. The bedroom had plenty of cupboard space, and the lounge area was also a good size. The staff are very responsive via email, which is great to know. The bed was so very comfortable and huge - two singles created a king sized bed! The shower was awesome with a good strong flow of very hot water.
We were disappointed that I had to wipe down the coffee table and sofa as they had stains from previous people - both of those minor things could have been attended to prior to our arrival. The main entry door into the apartment passageway didn't latch properly and was easily opened just by pushing the door, without even using the handle. This needs to be fixed as a security issue because anybody could just come in and access the garage! (The apartment door was fine, and closed and locked with no issue.) The bathroom sink took ages to drain, and the shower door design is poor as it didn't stop water from going onto the bathroom floor causing a puddle. The shower could also be improved with a shelf for soap and shampoo. Our peace was ruined when guests turned up and went to the apartment upstairs - we could easily hear them, especially going up the stairs and moving around the apartment.
However, despite the minor things listed above, the suite is very comfortable and warm.

We notified both the hotel directly and the booking agent 6 days out that we had tested positive for Covid and were not permitted by law to travel. It was a really unfortunate situation outside of our control. We asked both the hotel and the booking agent if we could change our booking (to be clear we did not ask for a refund as we were still planning to travel just not when we were incredibly ill and not to mention infectious with Covid). The hotel were not open to even discussing this when I contacted them directly referring back to their blanket policy not permitting cancellations. She told me to refer it back to the booking agent. The booking agent tried to assist us as they were aware travel insurance providers are now excluding Covid and contacted the hotel on our behalf. It was really disappointing that the hotel was not open to moving our booking. All other accomodation providers for this week offered a refund and were incredibly flexible and understanding. A pretty poor business decision on their part as we are now rebooking our trip and it’s for additional days but it will not be at this provider so I guess their decision not to change our 1 night stay has lost them a much longer booking and the other 2 providers will benefit. I’m sure they will just fall back on their non refundable policy - this review is simply to warn others that there are other far more flexible accomodation providers in this region. DO NOT BOOK HERE - inflexible and poor customer service. I’m so glad I only booked 1 night with them.
