Well after a long day of travel along the great ocean drive we drove into Port Fairy in lovely evening sun. We arrived at Oscar’s and we were warmly greeted by Andriana . She gave us a tour of the place and we were blown away. It is one of the most delightful boutique hotels we have stayed and we have travelled the world.
We booked the premium suite upstairs and it was vast, thoughtfully cooled and wine was delivered to us as we settled in. The bed linen and how the room is dressed is simply divine. Very large shower room, dressing closet and fridge and drink making facility.
Before we arrived we had encountered difficulty booking restaurants as there were more people than places. Still we went to Lemongrass where I thought I had made a booking and I had made the error of booking their restaurant in Colac!!!!!! So nowhere to eat. Andriana told us not to worry we were welcome to bring in a takeaway and use all of the thoughtful nessecities left out. We couldn’t have been happier!!! The deck is right at the front of the property overlooking the river full of luxury comfortable dining and seating options that has been sadly lacking from other places on our four weeks down under from the UK.
We had such a pleasant time we cancelled our next nights restaurant and again had a chicken and salad takeaway sittiing in luxury on the deck. That night we were the only guests so felt like millionaires.
Breakfast each morning was beautiful,y prepared by Shane Andriana’s partner and it was TOP NOTCH. A poached pear with vanilla bean yoghurt arrived whilst we perused the menu. Yum! There were plenty of choices of what to eat.
We enjoyed a game of golf at the local golf club as the weather wasn’t great on our second day. Fabulous welcome there.
This hotel was without doubt one of the best places that we stayed on our trip which included stays at The Louise Barossa valley and The Langham Melbourne.
Thanks to Andriana and Shane for a most wonderful stay and if ever we return we hope to be with you for much longer.

This was our second time staying at Oscar’s and it was even better than the first!!

We love this place so much…the rooms are so comfortable and spacious, the breakfasts delicious, and the hosts most accommodating and considerate. We truly appreciate everything Andriana and the chef did for us during our stay and can’t wait for the next visit in the summer. The riverfront location, walking distance to the lighthouse and beaches is truly one of a kind. Oscar’s will not disappoint!

Look forward to seeing you again soon! ✨

We had never been to Port Fairy so booked this place online based on positive reviews. It’s a premium product so accept you will pay a premium price. We booked the garden view suite which is one of only two ground floor options. If you have large luggage it makes sense to book one of these. We had one large case and two carry on so was delighted when we realised the serendipity of our choice. The hotel is more an upmarket B&B. It’s a grand house with fabulous public areas and a sweeping staircase. It’s beautifully decorated and comfortable. We visited in a cooler month and the house was warm. Our suite was a bedroom and separate living room. The lounge had a gorgeous gas log fire plus a split system for extra warmth. Plenty of pod coffee and teabags. Plenty of bottled water. Bedroom very comfortable with plenty of storage space. Bathrobes supplied. My only niggle was the bathroom. No heating, no hooks to hang clothing and limited surface area for toiletries. The hotel is on the river with a large veranda and lovely outdoor seating. You can all to most attractions and the town centre. We hardly used the car. Breakfast was exactly what we loved so very happy with quality and selection. Staff excellent. Highly recommend this property.

Oscars is just wow! A beautiful hotel in a great location overlooking the boats on the Moyne River. River views from our room, reading in the large sitting room, evening drinks by the fire in the quaint timber lined study or walking about Port Fairy. Exceptional service by Andriana, Shane and Tim. A birthday treat to remember

We had a beautiful stay at Oscars and were welcomed by Andrianna prior to our check in time. Our room was garden facing and very spacious with a very comfortable bed(linen sheets) The breakfast was amazing with poached pears to die for and house made granola. Nothing was too much trouble. I loved the relaxing music playing all day long - felt like you had entered a day spa! The lounge rooms were enticing with the open fires and John spent an afternoon in the smaller one reading with his feet up. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back perhaps and book out the 5 rooms in the main building with friends!

This was a lovely bed and breakfast on the waterfront. There are two rooms that are on the ground floor in a separate building so we had requested one of these in advance. The room was quite spacious with a totally separate living space with comfortable sofa and chairs. This room did come with a water kettle so we could make ourselves a cup of tea or coffee without having to go to the main house. The manager greeted us and explained the keys to us so we had totally access to the main house if we wanted to sit on the patio overlooking the water and/or make ourselves a pot of tea or french press coffee. Unfortunately we were out each day so couldn't really enjoy the main house as much as we wanted. We thought the breakfasts were delicious- lots of variety and a choice of a cooked breakfast. As an example, we had omelets with spinach and tomato, side of bacon, rye toast with plum and orange jam, yogurt with granola, fresh fruit of orange, melon, peaches, plums and grapes and a choice of orange or apple juice. Each day, the staff offered to make our pot of tea or french press coffee which was a nice option.

I booked the hotel on the way back from Torquay to Adelaide. Having visited Port Fairy some 13 years ago I was looking forward to seeing if and how it had changed. We arrived at the hotel late afternoon having stopped at Cape Otway on the way. The welcome was delightful and to be told we had the use of the entire hotel for our two day stay. It felt like being in some grand country house for the weekend, the only people we saw were the manager and partner (chef). It was like having our own personal butler! The breakfast was grand and the lounge, library and waterfront terrace were so welcoming.
I can highly recommend Oscars, probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Australia.
The quality of the facilities was second to none, no chipped paintwork.

What a gem this place is in Port Fairy!
We were greeted by the lovely Adrianna who creates a very happy relaxed vibe in this incredible Georgian home.
My husband & I could not recommend her highly enough. Wonderful service, nothing is a problem! Shane cooks amazing breakfasts every morning where you can sit on the veranda overlooking yachts & boats on the river.
The beds are incredibly comfortable and the bedding new & fresh. We had a river view which was beautiful.
Oscars is in the perfect location…close to everything!
Excellent 3 nights away to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary!! Thanks again!

We had stayed at this hotel many years before and were not disappointed with our second visit. Rachel was friendly and welcoming when we arrived and offered us one of two rooms to choose from. We decided on the courtyard suite as it had its own tea/coffee making facilities, was large in size and saved us having to carry our three large suitcases up flights of stairs! We were not disappointed it was a lovely suite furnished well with a modern bathroom containing Molten Brown toiletries and large comfy bed! Judith checked us out and was also friendly and accommodating. The best place to stay in Port Fairy for sure. Highly recommended!

Its probably the best accommodation in Port Fairy and perhaps the lack of options and perhaps a li.ited season explain the price of a room, perhaps!
The hostess is very friendly and the staff are too.
The rooms are nice enough and the property has a charm to it.
However, noone there to help one with suitcases, furniture in the rooms is sparse, bed is not the most comfortable, the breakfast that some other reviewers have raved about,is nothing to write home about.
Now if this cost one $200 a nite you would have said,ok I guess. But the rooms are over $400 a nite! Makes no sense at all and,I guess the law of large numbers says enough visitors will be silly enough to pay that once, so the prices are what they are. A good thing is that the property is nicely situated on the water and a short walk into town.
Was a nice stay but wouldn't recommend given the really poor value for money.
