We booked last minute…it was $250/night and the TA reviews looked very positive and the place seemed a bit more upscale. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very polite, helpful and engaging receptionist. We got a room upgrade to one that had the bathroom reno. The king family was indeed large, the bathroom/toilet was nice and new, but the shower’s water pressure was low. Regrettably, the carpet was dirty, stained and smelled. The towels were clean, but old and frayed and the wifi reception was very poor. The walls have poor insulation…we could hear our neighbours speak and their TV also. The bed was, however, very comfortable. We had a few dead and live crickets in our room - a visit from pest control could handle that in an environmentally friendly manner. Overall, we were just disappointed with the hotel…it has the potential to be so much more. We are well travelled and have stayed in a broad spectrum of accommodation types, even family hostels, so we are being very objective with this review - feel free to read more of our reviews, especially recent ones.

Dear Guest, Sorry I do not know your name. I am saddened that you thought our property did not live up to reviews. Looking at the tariff this was a very busy time in Port Fairy and this is why the rate would have been slightly higher than normal. I am surprised by your comments but we take all comments seriously and do our best to rectify any issues. In regards to the crickets we do have a pest control program but this is their breeding season so are very active. It happens in February and March and again we do our best to keep them out of the accommodation. I hope that we do see you again at Seacombe House Take care and Travel safely from Christine & The Team at Seacombe House

Reception on arrival was brilliant. A very effervescent Katherine (who is also the residential Manager) provided a very warm welcome and was able to negotiate through an error (of my own making) effortlessly regarding our booking. Plenty of advice given regarding local facilities and amenities and made to instantly feel welcome both to the accommodation and the community. The room was in the historical part of the building, downstairs. While the occasional footsteps could be heard above, it never became an issue. While not overly large, the room exuded comfort, and while within a historic building, also exuded a style commensurate with four-to-five-star accommodation. It contains a large comfortable bed along with a table and chairs from which to be able to work. The bathroom was large and very well provided with complimentary toiletries and a shower with two shower heads providing one with a choice as to what (and what not) to wash. Excellently located within the small township allowing for a variety of options to be explored for whatever meal or refreshment was desired.

The most stylish, comfy motel room in a lovely garden setting with the most helpful friendly staff! A lovely little restaurant with great coffee adjoins Seacombe House. Perfectly placed in the Main Street but away from the bustle. Wonderful! We plan to return again!

We enjoyed our night at Seacombe House in Port Fairy. We chose to stay in Gun Alley, which is one of the original rooms dating from when the building was a pub. The room is very spacious and features the original ceiling of hand cut boards. The bathroom is excellent, very modern and well designed. The building is old and therefore a bit noisy but we enjoyed it for what it is.

Hi Richard, Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. It was lovely having you stay, and I am so pleased you loved the charm of Gun Alley and Seacombe House. Yes it has its quirkiness, but it is so wonderful to experience the history of Seacombe Houses the original building built in 1847. If only the walls could talk! Take care and I hope we see you again soon Christine & The Team at Seacombe House.

An old property with a newer motel style wing. We stayed in this wing. The room was well appointed and quite large. The staff were very friendly and quite helpful. The location is excellent as it is walking distance to the shops, cafes and restaurants. There is onsite parking but under trees which dropped sticky ‘stuff’ onto the car. After that we parked on the street. There is free washing / drying facilities and that was very helpful midway through our holiday.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review for us. I am so pleased that you enjoyed Seacombe House. We are in a fabulous location as you say so close to everything. Seacombe House has accommodation to suite everyone's style from Old to New but with all of the modern facilities. Sorry about the neighbour's tree which does drop fruit only at this time of year over onto our car park. Sadly, this is out of my control. As you say we have plenty of free street parking. Take care and I hope that we see you again in the near future from Christine & The team at Seacombe House.

Charming quaint historical motel in an equally charming quaint seaside village. Excellent location, staff very friendly. Rooms a tad small but that is in keeping with an old building. Great rates, definitely recommend.

This hotel/motel is definitely worth a look. I originally booked to stay in a room in the older part of the hotel but was offered an upgrade to the newer motel room. It was fabulous! Giant comfy bed, new bathroom with sensor lighting and double showers. Lovely charming gardens and lovely welcoming owner.

We were going to arrive by car after the front desk was closed, but they worked out a way for us to check in after hours. This was so helpful to our family after a weary drive. They couldn’t have been any nicer, helped us find good places to eat and explore the next morning, and we’re very interested to have engaging conversations with curious Americans
