Comfortable, modern rooms near centre of beautiful old town. Friendly staff at reception. Bathroom seemed to have been very recently redecorated. Comfy couch made it easy to read (or watch TV) At check in a point was made of telling me howto connect to Wifi
This motel is in a good location and provides a clean and comfy stay in Port Fairy. My criticisms are as follows........there is no possibility to sit outside anywhere, it would not cost much to install a coffee pod machine and trash the crap 1970 instant coffee satchets, the TV is quite small and the Wi-Fi is very slow. Also, you will need to pick your shower time if the place is full. My wife ended up with a cold second half of her shower at 9AM after the hot water ran out. Overall it provides what is advertised but i might look across the road next time.
The Ashmont Motor Inn & Apartments is centrally located within walking distance to the main shopping areas and streets. You can leave your car at night and head to dinner and enjoy a few wines or other drinks, and walk happily home. The main tourist attractions are a short drive, bike ride, or decent walk away [perfect for getting your 10,000 steps!]. This property has apartments and hotel rooms. I stayed in a hotel queen room on the ground level, with no set parking space on a first-come basis. When you arrive, you are greeted by one of the hosts - the ever-busy-on-the-phone Dean [an in joke] - a nice fella with an abundance of knowledge to share. Check-in was no fuss and quick. During COVID, many of the rooms had an upgrade of sorts. New furniture, bed heads/mattresses, carpet and so forth. The bathrooms are still in excellent nick, so they were left untouched. For a motor inn, the basic room was huge! Room 4 - Queen bed, with sheets and thin duvet that was nice and warm on the increasingly colder nights. The bed was so comfortable that getting to sleep wasn't hard. The rooms are quite soundproof, and obviously, that also depends on the type of guest next door or upstairs. The room had a workbench, with plenty of powerpoints for chargers and the like. There was also a dining table, kitchenette complete with fridge and microwave, and lounge room with a comfy sofa and a small table. There are the usual amenities in the cupboard, but no safe. There is an air conditioner for heating/cool. The bathroom had sturdy tiling and an amply spaced shower with great water pressure. A big plus was the three bright lights above the bathroom mirror - so helpful for applying makeup, sunscreen, or just drying your hair. Another big tick for me was the towels' quality - thick, warm and luxuriously wide. YAY! I thoroughly enjoyed staying here; it was quiet, cosy, and secure- but most of all, great value for money. I look forward to staying again.…
Have just had 4 nights in a Queen room. The motel location is perfect for walking anywhere in town. Good size room, comfortable bed on the firm side, great shower, table, desk, sofa and the kitchenette had everything we needed. Wifi was pretty ordinary. Certainly nothing fancy to look at, and the outside stairs need work (a rusty bit sticking up that you could trip on) We really couldn’t fault much and would happily stay here again..
We have stayed in Port Douglas a number of times and have always booked ahead, but an unexpected free day between destinations on our recent road trip allowed us one night in Port Douglas. We were most fortunate that Ashmont Motor Inn had a very comfortable Queen apartment available. It’s Bank Street location meant we could walk to everything we wanted to see. Along the river, back along the beach front and through the many quaint shops in the main streets. Highly recommended.
