Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing to be so close to the shore and watch it from the bedroom, the surf was huge and pounding, the stormy weather added to the atmosphere, really is shipwreck coast. This sort of accommodation would cost double in Tasmania and we thought this was perfect for couples wanting isolation and peace.

We stayed here in the penthouse studio at the end of our trip across the great ocean road and although we looked forward to this stay it was not a really great stay.We had a 6 weeks trip through australia, which we really enjoyed but this was our worst and only bad stay in the 6 weeks. To start with the beginning the bad reception of the host. I don't know what he had eaten, but hopefully he doesn't greet all his guest this way. He started to argue about the fact that we'd already entered the hallway (someone had left the door open, which wasn't the idea but what can we do about that?). Second he wanted us to buy an australian telephone number, because this was easier and cheaper for him. This is really ridiculous, I don't know in which era he lives, but you can reach us anywhere in Australia and if you send us an app it is not even more expensive. I think it is really rude to ask this only for you own benefit. He forgot one thing, He has chosen to work in the sector of tourism, so he has to deal with people all over the world (not only from australia or people he liked). Third. The room. First the pros. It has a really beautiful view and the room is spacious. The cons. the room isn't really clean (also not really clean sheets). The furniture is not one unity and looks old, some modernisation is really needed. The room is spacious but due to a lack of enough furniture it feels like a ballroom. Windows are dirty, but I think the owners can't really be the blame of that, because of the strong winds here and the proximity of the sea it is impossible to have clean windows or you have to wash them daily Service We asked extra towels, because we stayed more nights and we only had towels for one day. He begrudgingly gave us 2 extra. But this were old towels and it was written all over him that he didn't like this. All in all We would recommend to everybody to stay somewhere else if you visit this area. This is an expensive stay and it's really not worth the money. We were in doubt of 2 or 3 stars but because of the bad host we have given 2 stars.

Response from Graham Wilson, Owner at Wytonia Beachfront Accommodation
Responded 1 Mar 2023
Thank you Jeroen for your review. Your point 1. I simply asked how you entered, as we ask guests to keep the entrance door locked so that we have control as to who enters the building since the Covid epidemic. If the lock was broken then I would have it fixed. If another guest had left it open then I would remind them to lock the door. Your point 2. I had no way of contacting you prior to your arrival - no phone number or internet address and your travel agent has a 12 hour time difference to Australia. Since Covid we have a self check in procedure. Most guests provide a telephone number for us to make contact. An Australian mobile number is usually the cheapest option for the guests but an International one is fine for us so long as the International code is supplied. Your point 3. Any house keeping issues need to be brought to my attention immediately so that they can be addressed, not one month later. Our furnishings are as shown on our advertising. Your request for additional towels and tea towel were met as requested on booking. I'm sorry you were disappointed. I make myself available to cater for our guests needs wherever I can. Kindest regards, Graham

Our apartment at Wytonia Beachfron was just stunning. The position, virtually right on the beach, was unique. Perfect little coves for safe swimming. It was clean and fresh and a real discovery - the best of our 2 week Victorian trip.

What a place to slow down and reset your compass. Views to die for. Secluded beaches with safe swimming lagoons. Close enough to town for visits and food etc. far enough away for solitude. Accom was simple and comfy. My wife and I just loved it.

We absolutely loved the location and everything was clean. Beautiful uninterrupted ocean views from the penthouse suite. Secluded beach walks and close to Port Fairy with its wonderful cafes, restaurants and hospitality. Furnishings were ok but could do with an update. We enjoyed the amazing view with a few glasses of wine, but the chairs were not very comfy. The bed was also quite hard. As the weather was cool we hunted out blankets from the cupboard (a nice fluffy doona would have made this place heaven)!

We stayed as a couple and was very impressed with the accommodation. Wonderful ocean views from the room and a stroll through the gardens took us to a private beach. Very clean and tastefully decorated room. I wanted to stay longer but couldn't due to my commitments. We will definitely stay again. Thank you for a great holiday.

When we left Wytonia we felt sad to be leaving. This reflects what wonderful accommodation it is. It is roomy with a nice large bathroom and faces a secluded beach so that you can sit outside and appreciate the scenery and weather with privacy. At night you can hear the pattern of the waves. And despite that, it is so close to the charms of Port Fairy, whether walking or driving (2.5 kilometres). Additionally, the service for enquiries and initial greeting was excellent. We will definitely come back.

I;m cheating because I've left this review a year late! Dont know why- just didnt seem to get around to it! something called a pandemic sidetracked me as Im a nurse and just became busy. So we actually stayed here 29th Jan 2020 for one night- but wish it was longer. We stayed in one of the Penthouses and I must say it was a stunning apartment with the best views overlooking the ocean. Lovely open plan room with huge windows so you had the best view. Lovely balcony to sit out on and all the amenities you need. A short drive into town, but well worth it. Port Fairy is a lovely little town. If we came back here again, we would definately say here and for longer

Could not have stayed anywhere better for our anniversary getaway. We stayed in the penthouse and the panoramic, uninterrupted ocean view was like medicine for the soul. Was even better than I'd hoped. So many wonderful places to dine. Just the escape we needed.
