My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing three night stay in this delightful location. We were met on our arrival by the owner Dianna, who was very welcoming. The accomodation is a little studio cottage with plenty of character, very thoughtfully prepared. The outlook to the garden is beautiful - even from the bathroom. One could imagine oneself to be out in the countryside whereas it is only a four minute drive to the historic centre of Port Fairy and its many cafes and restaurants. Escaping from the Melbourne lockdown to this haven of tranquility was a delight.
Cherry Plum Cottages are conveniently located amid pretty countryside just outside of Port Fairy. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage, a lovely old stone building with a wooden extension on the back housing the kitchen and second bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed having space in the sitting room to relax as well. It was very cold at night and the heating in the living room and kitchen (electric heater in one, air conditioning in the other) struggled to do the job. Some heating in the bathroom would also help. However the host had left cosy blankets around the place and the bed had good electric blankets. We also appreciated the bottled water left for us as Port Fairy water is undrinkable! This would be a great place for families as there is plenty of room for kids to run around and there's a paddock of curious alpacas at your back door.…
This is a hidden gem! The staff are so helpful and the little extras such as chocolate and port make for a really special stay. The cottage is just exquisite and everything you need is at your fingertips.
We stayed here on our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. Whilst the location is a bit out of the main area of town it’s a great location. The cabins are well appointed with a small kitchenette lounge area and bedroom. The bed was comfy with a heavy weight quilt. The room is heated by a split system a/c which is very effective. The owners provided cereal fresh milk, yoghurt and fruit and bread for toast. There was also a selection of jams and tea and coffee. The special touch included port and chocolates ar the end of the night! There was a tv and DVD player with a small selection of movies. There is also a historical old cottage on site which would have been lovely to get more info and details about. The neighbours was a herd of alpacas which is really coo, to see too.
This place is AMAZING! Absolutely impeccable! The cottage was beautiful, clean and thoughtfully furnished to suit the period. Nothing was overlooked! The hosts went above and beyond in providing everything you could possibly need (including all our breakfast needs, fresh milk, coffee, teas, hot chocolate and added bonus of chocolates and lollies 😉oh and did I mention the fluffy dressing gowns?!) The attention to detail was second to none. So much history in one place! The town is super cute and we wished we could have had more time to explore! We can’t wait to come back and stay for longer!
