We had a lovely stay in Port Fairy, one of our favourite places. We had 4 nights in Ardlie and 3 in Arandoon. Dianne was a very responsive host, dealing with a minor hiccup efficiently and professionally- we couldn’t have asked for better service. Both cottages are extremely well equipped, above and beyond what we have experienced in most places. The setting is lovely and tranquil but very close to the centre of Port Fairy. It is very easy and flat walking to shops and restaurants. If stay for longer than a couple of nights Arandoon is probably more suitable particularly if you wish to prepare meals at your accommodation. We prefer not to when we are away, preferring to sample the local restaurants of which there are many in Port Fairy. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this B&B for one night, last Sunday and found it was exceptionally good value. We stayed in the “Ardlie” cottage, which was well presented and very clean. Due to COVID, breakfast is not being supplied, but as we are a short drive to town, it was no trouble to get supplies. Dianne, our host, did provide the basics - tea/coffee, milk, sugar, margarine and jams. There was also the added touch of chocolates and port, which was most welcomed after we came back from dinner. The kitchen was well equipped, even a BBQ was included. If you are exploring the Port Fairy area, I’d suggest a 3 night stay in this lovely secluded cottage. It has everything you’ll need to make your stay very comfortable - It won’t disappoint.

We were welcomed on arrival by Diane, who explained the cottage, the area and what supplies she had left us. We stayed in the 2 bedroomed cottage, which was beautiful and immaculate. The cottage although old had been beautifully renovated and had a stunning garden. When I wakened to see Highland cows in the nearby field, I felt at home. I couldn't rate this cottage, the owner and the area more highly. A

This place is absolutely perfect. You are met by the host on your arrival and are shown around. So lovely. Every detail has been gratefully considered- heated house when you arrive, little gourmet cookies on your arrival, a range of teas to choose from, beautiful bedding, ample power points in all rooms, perfect cottage garden. The place is immaculately clean. There are cute alpacas and highland cows in the adjacent paddocks. This place is divine and highly recommended

My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing three night stay in this delightful location. We were met on our arrival by the owner Dianna, who was very welcoming. The accomodation is a little studio cottage with plenty of character, very thoughtfully prepared. The outlook to the garden is beautiful - even from the bathroom.
One could imagine oneself to be out in the countryside whereas it is only a four minute drive to the historic centre of Port Fairy and its many cafes and restaurants.
Escaping from the Melbourne lockdown to this haven of tranquility was a delight.

We stayed in the Arrondoon cottage. Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, this is it. Clean and comfortable and well maintained in lovely surroundings. Everything thought of. In a quiet spot, but not too far away from everything in Port Fairy. So glad we found and picked this place to stay. We came here with our son and girlfriend, (Arrondoon has two bedrooms with queen and double bed - very comfortable) but would also make a lovely, romantic getaway for a couple.

We stayed here on our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. Whilst the location is a bit out of the main area of town it’s a great location. The cabins are well appointed with a small kitchenette lounge area and bedroom. The bed was comfy with a heavy weight quilt. The room is heated by a split system a/c which is very effective. The owners provided cereal fresh milk, yoghurt and fruit and bread for toast. There was also a selection of jams and tea and coffee. The special touch included port and chocolates ar the end of the night! There was a tv and DVD player with a small selection of movies.
There is also a historical old cottage on site which would have been lovely to get more info and details about.
The neighbours was a herd of alpacas which is really coo, to see too.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. So happy you enjoyed your stay at the Cottages. The historical old cottage was the original one on the property and later became their kitchen. The stone cottage is Circa 1862. Thanks again for staying with us.

A beautiful little cottage that was very welcoming and cosy. Attention to detail was awesome with little touches that made you feel very at home. Especially the decanter of Port that was very yummy! Not too far out of town to go for dinner.

Cherry Plum Cottages are conveniently located amid pretty countryside just outside of Port Fairy. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage, a lovely old stone building with a wooden extension on the back housing the kitchen and second bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed having space in the sitting room to relax as well. It was very cold at night and the heating in the living room and kitchen (electric heater in one, air conditioning in the other) struggled to do the job. Some heating in the bathroom would also help. However the host had left cosy blankets around the place and the bed had good electric blankets. We also appreciated the bottled water left for us as Port Fairy water is undrinkable! This would be a great place for families as there is plenty of room for kids to run around and there's a paddock of curious alpacas at your back door.

Thank you for the wonderful detailed review. So happy you found the bed comfy and enjoyed the cottage and surrounds. This is the first comment we have had on the heating as usually once the cottage is warm it holds its heat. We also provide heaters in the bedrooms as many of our international guests like to warm up their bedrooms as well. We will however look at options for the bathroom for over the winter months. Thank you again for staying with us and for the wonderful feedback.

What a magical place! My partner and I absolutely loved our one night stay in Ardlie Cottage. Justin met us at the cottage at the agreed time and gave us a wonderful warm welcome and tour of the cottage's features and grounds. The cottage is beautifully appointed, the bed and linen were of excellent quality and the breakfast provisions were fantastic. The added little extras - plunger coffee, bowl of sweets, biscuits and decanter of port and chocolates - were greatly appreciated. I loved sitting out in the garden, amounts the fruit trees with a cuppa. Loved that there was a DVD player and a few DVDs too - it was so nice coming back to the cottage after a walk into town for dinner and settling in to watch a DVD whilst sipping port!
The cottage is well positioned - only 1km or so into the main strip of shops and restaurants and it was lovely to be away from the "hustle and bustle" and enjoy the quiet and stillness of the surrounds - with our Alpaca neighbours.
The larger cottage next to Ardlie, also looked lovely and was tenanted whilst we were there - but we didn't see or hear our human neighbours at all!
It was truly wonderful waking up on the very last day of 2018 in this beautiful cottage.
We look forward to returning to Ardlie Cottage - but for a longer stay next time!
