We stayed at this B&B for one night, last Sunday and found it was exceptionally good value. We stayed in the “Ardlie” cottage, which was well presented and very clean. Due to COVID, breakfast is not being supplied, but as we are a short drive to town, it was no trouble to get supplies. Dianne, our host, did provide the basics - tea/coffee, milk, sugar, margarine and jams. There was also the added touch of chocolates and port, which was most welcomed after we came back from dinner. The kitchen was well equipped, even a BBQ was included. If you are exploring the Port Fairy area, I’d suggest a 3 night stay in this lovely secluded cottage. It has everything you’ll need to make your stay very comfortable - It won’t disappoint.
My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing three night stay in this delightful location. We were met on our arrival by the owner Dianna, who was very welcoming. The accomodation is a little studio cottage with plenty of character, very thoughtfully prepared. The outlook to the garden is beautiful - even from the bathroom. One could imagine oneself to be out in the countryside whereas it is only a four minute drive to the historic centre of Port Fairy and its many cafes and restaurants. Escaping from the Melbourne lockdown to this haven of tranquility was a delight.
Cherry Plum Cottages are conveniently located amid pretty countryside just outside of Port Fairy. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage, a lovely old stone building with a wooden extension on the back housing the kitchen and second bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed having space in the sitting room to relax as well. It was very cold at night and the heating in the living room and kitchen (electric heater in one, air conditioning in the other) struggled to do the job. Some heating in the bathroom would also help. However the host had left cosy blankets around the place and the bed had good electric blankets. We also appreciated the bottled water left for us as Port Fairy water is undrinkable! This would be a great place for families as there is plenty of room for kids to run around and there's a paddock of curious alpacas at your back door.…
This is a hidden gem! The staff are so helpful and the little extras such as chocolate and port make for a really special stay. The cottage is just exquisite and everything you need is at your fingertips.
We stayed here on our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. Whilst the location is a bit out of the main area of town it’s a great location. The cabins are well appointed with a small kitchenette lounge area and bedroom. The bed was comfy with a heavy weight quilt. The room is heated by a split system a/c which is very effective. The owners provided cereal fresh milk, yoghurt and fruit and bread for toast. There was also a selection of jams and tea and coffee. The special touch included port and chocolates ar the end of the night! There was a tv and DVD player with a small selection of movies. There is also a historical old cottage on site which would have been lovely to get more info and details about. The neighbours was a herd of alpacas which is really coo, to see too.
This place is AMAZING! Absolutely impeccable! The cottage was beautiful, clean and thoughtfully furnished to suit the period. Nothing was overlooked! The hosts went above and beyond in providing everything you could possibly need (including all our breakfast needs, fresh milk, coffee, teas, hot chocolate and added bonus of chocolates and lollies 😉oh and did I mention the fluffy dressing gowns?!) The attention to detail was second to none. So much history in one place! The town is super cute and we wished we could have had more time to explore! We can’t wait to come back and stay for longer!
Darling cottage set amongst gardens and animal paddocks... vintage elements, but up to date. Clean and organized. Welcoming host. Comfortable beds. Great location close to town, but far enough away to have the countryside feel. Would return again for another stay. Highly recommend.
We LOVED everything about this place! We had the smaller cottage, which was so cozy and sweetly decorated. We had a small kitchen with breakfast items, chocolate and port for a late night treat, air conditioning and comfy bed. The cottage is very private and we spent a lot of time out on the porch sipping coffee in the mornings. There are llamas at the farm next door and lots of birds to watch on the property. I have nothing but great memories of this place. It was our favorite place to stay during our three week trip to Australia. We recommend it highly!
What a magical place! My partner and I absolutely loved our one night stay in Ardlie Cottage. Justin met us at the cottage at the agreed time and gave us a wonderful warm welcome and tour of the cottage's features and grounds. The cottage is beautifully appointed, the bed and linen were of excellent quality and the breakfast provisions were fantastic. The added little extras - plunger coffee, bowl of sweets, biscuits and decanter of port and chocolates - were greatly appreciated. I loved sitting out in the garden, amounts the fruit trees with a cuppa. Loved that there was a DVD player and a few DVDs too - it was so nice coming back to the cottage after a walk into town for dinner and settling in to watch a DVD whilst sipping port! The cottage is well positioned - only 1km or so into the main strip of shops and restaurants and it was lovely to be away from the "hustle and bustle" and enjoy the quiet and stillness of the surrounds - with our Alpaca neighbours. The larger cottage next to Ardlie, also looked lovely and was tenanted whilst we were there - but we didn't see or hear our human neighbours at all! It was truly wonderful waking up on the very last day of 2018 in this beautiful cottage. We look forward to returning to Ardlie Cottage - but for a longer stay next time!…
Cherry Plum Cottages / My wife and I stayed in Ardlie Cottage which was a delightful cottage set in a wonderful garden. The host Dianne was very welcoming and helpful with a restaurant recommendation which led us to one of the nicest evening meals we have had for a long time. An added feature was a paddock next to the cottage with alpacas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful cottage.
