Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in Port Fairy hostel for 2 weeks, and it was cozy and comfortable. The buildings are old, but so beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay there. Also, thank you for all the hospitality in the hostel.

We enjoyed our stay at this hostel! It was a really nice peaceful vibe with lovely friendly staff! Bathrooms and kitchen were clean - people actually cleaned up after themselves and it was well stocked. We had a double room which was fine however I would say the brickwork and beams etc were a bit dusty. Would stay again and this location was lovely! Port Fairy and it’s surroundings are absolutely stunning! The walk to Griffiths light house was beautiful, pea soup sunset views were great and our favourite place was the Tower Hill Nature Reserve - we saw so much wildlife (Emus, Kangaroos, birds and Koalas)

We stayed at YHA Port Fairy for 1 night before beginning our adventure on the Great Ocean Road. Would definitely recommend, we were in room 5, a family room, it was very comfortable and quite large. The bathrooms and kitchen were all clean, the lounge rooms looked comfy with a big shelf of books. Definitely recommend, and we would return.

This hostel is at the site of a converted old house which is well located with the main Port Fairy street a short walk away and the beach a short drive away. Wasn’t your typical youth hostel clientele but this may be a reflection of the current COVID travel restrictions and so there were a few families staying. Good large shared kitchen and fast WIFI in the front rooms but didn’t reach the back rooms.

This is a nice hostel in Port Fairy with a very nice atmosphere with the outside garden and common rooms. However there are a few buts. The back building has very little soundproofing so you will hear your neighbors very clearly, as well the wifi is very limited in terms of its reach or data allowance(if on the free version)

I liked it here. An old and atmospheric house converted nicely into a hostel - one of the things YHAs do best. Convenient for both town and shore, organised, clean and with a nice garden to hang around in at the back. Would have scored 5 stars but for the cramped/too low bottom bunk I had - not the most comfy... The manager here was super helpful and gave me almost an hour of her time helping me with onwards travel logistics and bookings during the new year period. Overall, one not to miss.

I've been coming down to Port Fairy since the 1980s. Since 2008 I've been staying at the YHA Port Fairy, built on the old town planners house. Alison and Kadir run excellent hostel - they are always, friendly, polite and interesting and run a good clean, well equipped, hostel. My husband is a room service only type of guy but he is quite happy to stay at the YHA Port Fairy - because it is not an ordinary hostel. I cannot fault it and highly recommend the YHA Port Fairy.

The hostel provided a nice base to explore Port Fairy and surrounds, and the kitchen was well-equipped. There seems to be a lot of variety in the rooms available: I was placed in the loft, which was a small but cute location which I had all to myself. Oh, and I liked the postcards for sale - they added a unique touch.

The bunk beds were small, narrow, nearly sure they were child bunk beds (room 3b) Throughout the night I was terrified to move in case I fell out of the bunk or whacked myself off the wall. The walls of each rooms were not closed off so the four people directly beside us in the adjacent room may aswell have been in our room. Cold building. To add on arrival we were given a coupon for wifi that didn't connect to our room. I wouldn't not stay here again

Our room was spotless very comfortable and situated in a great central location. Will definitely recommend this hostel. Not a thumping noisy place great for a good nights sleep, Centrally located to mostly everything. Lots of great eateries to enjoy, wonderful electic shopping. Buy all your grocery needs before you leave or in the last largest town or city. Supermarket prices are over the top and you will need bottled drinking water also.
