Staying here has become a regular thing for our little family for the Folk Fest weekend. We had one of the more basic cabins - same as previous years (one of these days we will upgrade ourselves but it is a very pricey weekend). But it was clean and neat and suited our needs, which was basically somewhere to rest our weary heads at night. The kids always enjoy the bunk beds and appreciated the little bowl of lollies that greeted them. Despite being on the main road and folk fest weekend, it is a very quiet place to stay, which we love. A good night's rest. That's why we keep coming back. :) One day we'll come on a non-folk fest weekend.

Thanks for taking the time to review the park I love folkie weekend as so many of our guests come back year after year, it is like greeting family, discussing who guests have seen , passing on our own tips and even ocassionally bumping into them and sharing a guiness at the festival. Port Fairy has so much to offer we would definitely encourage a trip on a quieter weekend where you can explore the town, don;t forget it is a tremendous base for exploring the south west

Our group of three were well satisfied with a cabin containing 3 bedrooms with two separate showers and toilets. Though situated close to the main entrance it was quiet
and well appointed with a large kitchen lounge and dining area .
The management were able to provide a large room where our group of 40 could meet for happy hours / meals and this was enjoyed by all

The ensuite site we had at Port Fairy Big 4 was well fitted out and maintained. The site gave us a lovely rural view. The park had good BBQs and facilities and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay and found the location of the park a good home base for day trips to Portland and Port Campbell.

We arrived with a large group of people, most with young children, ages 0-12 there isn’t a lot to do for children aged over 10 and the things they want to do they end up in trouble for. Most of the staff were accomodating and lovely, the owner on the other hand was quite the stickler for the kids. Our older children felt like he was singling them out and essentially stalking them to tell them off everytime they played on the karts.
The swimming pool.. my best advice do NOT use the swimming pool. The chemicals used in the pool are so harsh they faded our children’s high quality swimwear and damaged their skin. My baby was left with bumps and marks all over his skin and my older children left with stinging eyes and dry and sore skin even days after they used it and it is still obvious now.
The park is great for children aged around 3-10, plenty for them to do including mini golf, jumping pillow and a scooter track. Some open grass area would have been fantastic so the children had somewhere to kick a ball or ride the karts without getting into trouble constantly.
Some of the staff told my children not to worry about paying for the karts any more as we had spent so much already on hiring them and “most people just take them anyway” however this was no acceptable all round the staff leaving the children confused and often in trouble. I was there personally when this was said to them.
We travel a lot and have only started making use of caravan parks more rather than motels so this was quite disappointing for us with the way the older children were treated and not being able to use the pool.
I would not book this park again I would book somewhere else, my best advice to the owner, children are the parents reason for choosing parks with activities for children, treat them well and you will have return visitors.

Hello Sally Apologies for the delay in responding to your review I appreciate the time taken to review the park I am very sorry your experience did not meet your or our expectations I can assure you that John ( owner ) isn't singling children out, his attentiveness is motivated by trying to keep all the children in the park safe. It is true that we have had an issue with some children just taking the carts and this may have been what was poorly communicated to your family leaving the kids in doubt The pool issue leaves me completely bewildered, we have a very strong chemicals policy and it is measured on the hour, i have checked both the reports and the brands of chemicals used even checking with the supplier to ensure there were no wider reports of issues. We are both surprised and upset that your children have had a reaction to the pool Hopefully we can convince you to stay again in the future Thanks Rohan

Soo with lockdown looming and the covid pandemic pumping up for round 2, Mallacoota not an option due to the VIC transmission rate and interstate travel we took a chance on a lovely looking BIG4 park in Port Fairy who were happy to have us. Ive always used booking.com but they seem to inflate prices the same as uber eats if you get what i mean.

So. Booking direct on the BIG4 website and signing up to the BIG4 perks club i was far from disappointed with the events that followed. Friendly interaction from Rohan via email about my enquiries and even a contact free checkin 10/10. I did stick my head in and enquire about local sights/activities for the kids and places to eat. Staff were super friendly and very helpful! We took their advice and it was amazing The park boasted minigolf, skatepark/pumptrack, jumping pillow, heated indoor pool, pedal cart hire, ebike hire and games rooms. Only catch was the pool had less access time and games rooms closed due to covid. This was very clear at the time of booking soo that was fine.

The rooms were warmed, super clean and awaiting our arrival at checkin. Comfortable, clean and modern. 10/10. It did rain the majority of the time there but we did manage to sneak in a game of minigolf and take advantage of the parks perks. The perks club actually provided a good discount on the ones you had to pay for too being minigolf & pedalcarts.

Park was nice and clean, staff were friendly, nice and quiet at night. Nothing was too much trouble. Definatly a quality destination and couldn't be more please with a last minute booking in covid times.

THANKYOU BIG4 PORT FAIRY!!

We stayed in the Heron Cabin and it was very spacious and comfortable.
Full size fridge, stove, oven and well appointed kitchen. However there is not a can opener - BYO
The main bed was extremely comfortable and very plush high pillows. So if you like a flat one - BYO.
The kids bunk beds are comfortable too but are a bit shorter than a regular single bed as there is a cupboard at the end of each of the beds for hanging storage.
The basketball rings were good, however the tennis court is only a 1/2 size, ideal for kids to muck around. The peddle carts are always a must do hit with the kids. There is an indoor pool and COVIDSafe restrictions on the number of people allowed at a time so you need to book a time slot with reception to swim.
They have a mini golf course on-site however this is an addition charge.
This Big4 is only a 3 min drive from the Main Street of Port Fairy.
We had a lovely week away.

Huge grassed sites that were terrific! However the ammenities really let it down for me . Toilets were definitely not checked or cleaned on a regular basis . 3 out of 4 toilets had no paper which is poor . For a big 4 caravan park I would’ve expected better. Also the design of the toilet where the door opens up onto people trying clean their teeth right there at the sink is awful . BBQ area was clean but the bbqs should be cleaned several times a day ! For the price we paid over a long weekend and being a Big 4 I would’ve expected a higher standard like I’ve had in other parks previously. The highlight was when a manager came around with a box of chocolates just because .. that was lovely !

Thanks for the review We appreciate your opinions and we are certainly looking into all our processes after our xmas period to see where we can improve. We have already instigated clearer communication of when the toilets are cleaned and by whom so guests can see when the last time they were cleaned and the next time they will be together with a number that can be called if a mess has been made in between the set cleaning times. I admit that on one occasion this summer a miscommunication saw the toilet rolls not replaced in the afternoon till the next morning, we are deeply embarrassed by this and certainly not our usual standard. Thanks for choosing to stay with us and we look forward to having you stay with us again Thanks Rohan

We stayed in the Ibis cabin which was cleaned well and had everything we needed. The instant hot water was playing up and the gent that works at the park managed to get it going but we had to keep turning it on and off every time we showered or washed the dishes to get hot water but it was a minor issue once we knew what we needed to do

The park is clean, tidy and we'll presented and close to town (20 min walk) it has all the usual BIG4 amenities including a camp kitchen, basketball and tennis court, playgrounds and a swimming pool to name a few things.

My only complaint with the swimming pool would be it is that heavily chlorinated that all 3 of us had red burning eyes after spending only 20 mins in the pool without going underwater. It's the strongest choline smelling pool I've ever been in. We didn't jump in a second time and resorted to swimming at the beach nearby.

Great park, easy ride into town also via back road (not sure why they don’t have this on the map). Very disappointed a lot of the park features you had to pay for even though you are staying there like mini golf - almost all other parks is free to paying guests. A lot of the trees have just been removed also so there is hardly any wind protection or shade. Otherwise very happy staff and nice and clean. Nice sized sites also. Good to stay in a park with decent internet also.

Hi Benjamin, Thank you very much for staying with us & thank you for taking the time to write a review, much appreciated. The exit to the back road (Osmonds Lane) is marked on the park map, it shows an exit with an arrow & street name is also marked. There are many activities within the park that require no fee, jumping pillow, pool, pump track, movies, kids club, indoor playroom, playground, the only two that do are the go karts & mini golf. Unfortunately the trees become a hazard when it gets windy, therefore they have been removed or cut back for safety. Thanks again for your review, hope to see you back again soon, Regards, Kirsty-Big4 Port Fairy

This was by far one of the best caravan parks that we have stayed at. The amenities were clean and modern. The facilities for kids were fabulous, there is a great play room for kids under 5 which our daughter loved as she is only 2 but then for the bigger kids there was Mini golf, pump track, jumping pillow and indoor pool. I don’t think your kids will ever get bored. Saturday morning they had free pancakes for the guest and Bambino pizza came in Sunday night to serve up pizza for park guests!

Hello Frank - this is somewhat late; I'm so sorry. We don't have fires at the park. I agree they're fun but they wouldn't work here - our grassy sites wldnt stay that way for long and as the park is small they could create a safety issue. There're plenty of other things to do in the park and around the town. Jenni
