I booked the family room ( 2 single and 1 king) bed for my family of 4 (2 A and 2 11 yr olds.
I arrived late only at about 630pm and the owner knew it was me as we walked to the reception area. :) He is very friendly and gave us some suggestions of where to go the following morning like The Grotto and Razorback.
The rooms may look old but it's very clean, the bed comfortable and room is well equipped with everything you might need for a short 1 night or even 2 night stay like a microwave, full set of cutleries, some bowls, dishes, mugs, kettle. Full size bottle of dishwashing liquid ( unlike the tiny sachets I got at service apartments!) and a small fridge.
In the family room, there is a dining table with 4 chairs and plenty of space for you to put your luggage. TV with a box to watch whatever there is . we found some australian home reno show of old classic houses and we were watching a few episodes of it before we went to bed! There is small veranda outside also facing the road so I suppose in summer one can sit out there. My husband took a walk out to the town center to find the pub and grocery store and it is a very small town. He said ( and take note this is in June winter so not peak season), he saw at most 20 pax and 1 BUNNY! lol
Next morning after we went to a few scenic spots at 830am and returned just before the 10am check out, we met the most friendly and docile dog whom we found out belonged to the owner. He greeted us in the carpark as I drove in. what a lovely addition to the place.
So if you want a safe and clean place with a friendly doggy to boot, this is the place for you. Thank you for having myself and my family even though it was so short and I hope this place thrives. I

I was put off at first as there was a sign on the door on arrival indicating no one was there to offer check-in assistance. While I did not like lack of security with my name and room number posted on the office door, I did at least appreciate that the key was in the door and I was able to quickly get to my room. I was thrilled to have a tub in the room and took full advantage of that amenity but the jets did not work. The room is quaint and has good amenities although I did find the bed a little bit firm for my personal taste. There is a fridge, microwave and kettle, which I appreciated. It’s a close walk to the very small town, which is nice. On arrival, I learned that it was a holiday so most of the town was closed and I only found one option for dinner, which was a big disappointment. On the flip side, I did appreciate the fact that this tiny little town was quiet and away from so much of the crowds of the Great Ocean Road. After a day of stopping all along the route, I was done with crowds. I could recommend this town and this hotel as long as the traveler is aware that it is literally a town of one street with only a few establishments and the hotel is quite basic, just a safe, clean enough place for a budget stay.

We stayed in Room 1 and it was a truly relaxing experience. Firstly, the room was spacious and so very clean. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available (love it when there are biscuits in the room 🙂), a small table to eat at and another pair of comfy chairs to relax in. Most impressive was the bed - so comfortable. We had the best night’s sleep in a long time. Overall, really impressed and would definitely come back / recommend.

We stayed in many places during our travels through Australia including some top rated hotels and this was by far the best. We received the friendliest of welcomes to this small motel. The owners gave us so much useful advice on where to eat and when to visit the local attractions to avoid the crowds. The room was large and comfortable with coffee, tea and biscuits and plentiful toiletries. The bed was the best I’ve ever slept in - so comfortable and had the highest quality sheets. The office was staffed all day and guests were always welcome to pop in for a chat and some great proper coffee. I totally recommend this as the place to stay in Port Campbell whilst driving the Great Ocean Road. It is high quality and great value too.

Our stay here was just lovely. The rooms are cozy, comfortable and very clean with so many ecofriendly and good quality little touches that most wouldn't think about.
The hosts are friendly and accommodating and made us feel genuinely welcome.
We loved our stay and would definitely go back.

Came here with a cycle group. Service from owner was excellent including (pre-arranged) use of washing machine and clothes line. Facilities in rooms were excellent. Clean and spacious. Only improvement would be a range of pillow shapes (including very thin) and firmness (eg soft etc) in each room.

Note: This is my experience with just the booking for an upcoming trip.
Hello folks,
Unfortunately there isn’t a negative rating option here. Totally do not recommend this motel for your travel because the owner is extremely rude and has zero customer service ethics.
Says one thing to the customer and does a completely different thing on the side.
Made a booking via booking.com missing that this did not have free cancellation. I could swear it was (but that is my fault). Anyway, I messaged the property and said that due to unforeseen circumstances we won’t be able to make that particular trip and requested to waive cancellation. 3 weeks later got no response and so called her. The lady turned around and said to me that she will consider it if booking.com won’t charge her commission.
Great, so now I requested booking.com to assist me with this and they confirmed to her that if she is willing to accommodate the cancellation, they will waive the commission and guess what, she came back asking for a valid reason for cancellation as interstate travel ban lift has not yet been confirmed.
I never said I am not travelling because of COVID-19 restrictions! Now I have to wait out to see if the government continues to enforce the travel ban until the end of the year otherwise I end up paying the entire cost of the booking.
I know it was my oversight but the fact that the owner runs the business in such fashion where they are completely inhuman, unresponsive, downright rude and absolutely shady about the bookings is just shocking to me.
I would recommend to steer clear of this place. Not worth it at all. There are many other hotels/motels around this area that I’m sure are much more considerate and customer friendly than this lady. I keep referring to her as this lady because she didn’t even bother giving me her name (despite me asking for it).

My wife and I are well travelled, both domestically and internationally and this motel matches anything, in this price range, that we’ve stayed in.
The room we had was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linen and bathroom towels were of good quality.
The owner Sue was great, she guided us to the best eating places in town and beyond.
Port Campbell is a very lovely village and if we ever return, we will definitely stay at the Portside Motel.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,

I just loved the helpfulness of the owners/managers - so cheerful and willing to assist.. The room was spotless, had comfortable chairs in which to relax as well as table and chairs outside. A very good kitchen set-up, lots of power points for all our appliances including hearing aids. I would love to have spent longer here, it was such a pleasure to be looked after so well.

2 night stay at the end of March 2024 and at the end of the tour on the Great Ocean Road. Queen Room.
Motel with 11 rooms on one floor, very well maintained, and close to restaurants and a small beach. Friendly owners. Ideal location for visiting the "Twelve Apostles" (10 min drive east) to the "Bay of Islands" (20 min drive west). Free coffee available all day at reception.
Very clean room: floating wooden floor; kitchenette equipped with a small fridge and a MW; intimate and well-furnished balcony despite the proximity of the road.
Good ventilation in the bathroom. However, the shower system is not optimal from the point of view of water pressure and waterproofing.
Two nights is good for enjoying local points of interest.
