Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great place to stay. It's moments away from the centre of Port Campbell in a beautiful quiet area. The cottage is extremely comfortable and has everything you could want. The bed is so good and the kitchen is fully equipped. Tanya, the host, is so helpful and available.

Anchors is an outstanding place to stay. It consists of 3 villas. We stayed in no 1 which was spotless, beautifully appointed and spacious. The bed was comfortable, plenty of towels, well-outfitted kitchen with milk, coffee, tea etc.. The villa had a sleeping area, living room with couch and dining table, and a spacious galley kitchen. And for you coffee lovers, there was a good manual expresso machine that steamed milk for cappuccino. Tanya was a lovely host and gave us good tips about how to avoid the crowds at the numerous local Great Ocean Road sites to see. The views are beautiful (although, full disclosure, there is no water nearby to drop an anchor). We were so comfortable that we dined in both nights we were there. We couldn't recommend this place more highly. If there was a "6" rating available, this would be our first.

OK you've made my day! A 6 out of 5 from 79 contributions wow just wow! Thank you for this amazing review. A little back story to the name 'Anchors' - I moved here 22 years ago and decided to pull up Anchor when I met my husband in this little paradise. The boat on the hill is from the original Motel that I first worked in so there is also that connection.

This immaculate villa was lovely to stay in. We were in the one at the end and the extensive use of glass gave us a beautiful view over the surrounding hills. The place has everything you need and is spotlessly clean (yay!). The bed was so comfortable - I even made a note of the brand of the pillows, they were so good. The property has some cute animals that gave us a laugh. Location is excellent - visit Timboon Ice creamery for some licorice icecream :) Though it's a bit on the expensive side, it is worth every cent.

Thank you for your 5 star review, this is wonderful to read. The hierarchy in the animal pen is definitely comical. We have some calves also at the moment, they are adorable. Great dairy country in the area so the ice cream is pretty amazing as is the cheese and milk products. If you like the liquorice ice cream you must try Dairylicious Fudge Liquirice flavour DELICIOUS!

Perfect in every way. Tanya is the ideal host: clearly cares that you have a good stay, welcomes you warmly and offers great tips and advice. But above all the room could not be bettered: stunning views, incredibly comfortable and quiet, but also very practical with plenty of space and everything you need for a short stay. Plus some lovely extra personal touches from Tanya like fizz and chocs. Perfect stop in a stunning part of the world

Anchors Port Campbell was a beautiful and well designed accommodation in a peaceful and private surrounding. The view from our room was spectacular. Our kitchen was stocked well for breakfasts and included several locally made treats as well. Tanya greeted us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful homey experience. There was a lot of information available in our unit showing available sights and experiences nearby. Overall a great stay and we would highly recommend Anchors and the area around Port Campbell.

Thank you for your 5 star review! It is nice to share our local treats with you and offer a homey experience. It's great to have the necessities when you are traveling even if you don't use them. Having the self-catering option is a bonus when you want to stay in and enjoy that view!

Everything was perfect. Tanya explained how everything worked & then gave us great tips on what to see & do during our 4 day stay. The villa was exceptionally spacious, beautifully presented & spotlessly clean. Great internet & a fully equipped laundry for guest use. We were provided absolute privacy to enjoy the tranquil location.

Anchors proved to be the best accommodation experience of our four week stay in Australia even including several 5-star hotels. Nothing else was close. A stunning pastoral view looks out on fields running down to the Southern Sea with Port Campbell in the distance. The cottage/villa was equipped with literally everything -- it was like finding our own hone and its facilities on another continent. After a long day, my spouse sank into the jetted rub while I caught up with emails while watching what appeared to be over one hundred satellite stations. A complete kitchen ensured we could self-cater or simply snack, and the welcome package included a variety of drinks and snacks. We were also surprised with a readily accessible laundry facility. Finally, in addition to a truly comfortable bed, there was a comprehensive guide to the area on which we heavily relied. The proximity to a variety of stunning natural sites; a host of decent restaurants and shopping; and the Gourmet Trail with a variety of things to see and do make this a convenient base for a varied experience. Or, one can simply kick back and enjoy the tranquility of a stunning vista in a quiet setting. We agreed that we should have arranged a longer stay. We occupied Villa 2, and despite what others have written I question whether one is superior to others or provides more privacy. The way the villas are sited and the layout of the villas, including the panoramic windows and their sight lines, appears to provide abundant privacy regardless of which one is occupied.

Cannot recommend a stay here highly enough. Lovely villas and a great place to come back to after a day out sight seeing to relax in comfort. Made to feel very welcome by Tanya with little touches like a bottle of wine, ground coffee, chocolates and some local organic milk. She also took time to let us know all the places to go and see which was very helpful. Very spacious with lovely luxury touches. Very private and quiet which was great to destress and unwind and watch the sunset from your private verandah. Will definitely be back again and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone travelling to see all the famous sites on great ocean road. They are no more than a 10 minute drive so you can often beat the day tripper crowds. A little more in price but will worth every cent. You won't regret your decision to stay here.

Thank you for your amazing detailed review, it means a lot to us that you have taken the time to write this. Victoria is so diverse and the Great Ocean Road trip is one to remember. I just love that the big nature is not far from our door step, yet we are far enough away to be secluded and private away from the crowds.
