Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really enjoyed our stay at Maxine's B&B. She is a very gracious host, serving delicious food and offering lots of travel information. Her place is especially interesting because Max has travelled expensively and brought back loads of interesting items. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and staying at her B&B. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Maxine for a great stay at Sound of the Sea B&B. Wonderful room and a lovely breakfast. Also, good advice on where to eat in Port Campbell. We slept really well and woke refreshed for the day ahead. A lovely first anniversary adventure. Hope to see you again.

Maxine was a lovely host who had great stories and was super friendly but also left us alone when we needed. Her breakfast was delicious and she added lots of extra herbs and spices - a real chef. The bed was super comfy and the room was decorated very nicely. I would come here again in a heartbeat.

This B&B is set in a quiet location, a short walk to the heart of Port Campbell and to the beach. There are just two double rooms with en suite and a common area. The usual tea and coffee making facilities are available, as well as a fantastic cooked breakfast (or continental, if that's what you prefer). The bedrooms were immaculately clean with super comfortable beds. The common area was quirky, filled with many curios, magazines, a decent DVD supply and a TV. We stayed here as two couples and it was a perfect set up. Maxine was a fantastic host, who was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Her cooking skills were very much appreciated. The only negative is that there is no Wifi available.

What a great place to rest up after visiting the area for business. Maxine is very hospitable and the rooms are very clean and self sufficient. A great communal area that offers comfort and everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Couldn't have felt more comfortable and a super breakfast . Thanks Maxine

My wife and I spent last evening, 24 May 16, at Sounds of the Sea B&B and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner, Maxine, goes the extra mile to ensure that her guests are comfortable; my wife liked her so much that she commented that she wished she could take Maxine home with her. The B&B has two bedrooms each with their own on-suite and share a common living area where guests can relax to watch television, read, warm themselves by the wood stove, and eat. The guest area is separate from Maxine's living spaces, so if you book both bedrooms or are the only guests (as we were), then you definitely feel as though you have the house to yourself. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms, while cozy, were up to date and spotless. There are plenty of options for breakfast all cooked to order and with enough sides to ensure that your stomach is as full as necessary to start the day. My wife had the scrambled eggs with chives & cheese, and I had the omelet with the lot; they were both fantastic and better than what one would likely receive at a local restaurant. When booking a reservation, Maxine can be hard to reach. In talking with her, her phone landline has problems. However, I was able to reach her on her mobile phone after a few attempts and am so glad I did. Persistent is the key. Her preferred method of payment was cash on checkout. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it to any travelers passing through Port Campbell.

Clean and comfortable, quaint and cosy. Very friendly host that takes an interest in her guests and goes to great effort to make them feel at home. It wasn't really obvious at first that we may have had to share with other guests, however, we were lucky to have the place to ourselves.

Sounds of Sea felt more like a "family" stay than a B & B with only 2 rooms w/private baths that opened up to a common but small living/dining area. But it was all so cozy and inviting and Maxine, our hostess, was lovely. She cooked us a wonderful breakfast and choices were offered for us to fill out the nite before. We drove to the small town for a really tasty dinner, 12 Rocks, that had huge portions. Enjoy this spot. We were there for 1 nite and it was lovely

My partner stayed for only one night ( wish it could have been longer ) with Maxine on our trip along the Great Ocean Road. Such a delightful B&B, full of charming treasures and very comfortable bedroom and living area. We loved the garden and a very quiet location only a short walk to Port Campbell shops and restaurants. Maxine has great local knowledge and made the best breakfast after our dawn visit to the Apostles. would highly recommend this unique B&B. One tip, Maxine can be hard to reach ( phone only, no email ) bit don't give up, it is so worth a visit!!

Stayed 1 night whilst driving Great Ocean Road and we couldn't have picked a better place. Good location and distance from Melbourne to stop on first night. Clean, welcoming and a good breakfast. Would recommend to anyone.
