Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After we got home, I got a charge to my CC for a $60 bottle of wine !!! I DO NOT drink $60 bottles of wine in hotels. I questioned the charge and received no response from the hotel , The accomodation in this hotel is just a side hustle for the bars of the hotel. There is no checkin or checkout management - just go to the very busy public bar to find out what room you have been allocated. We stayed in the most expensive room at the hotel ( Executive Suite) for 3 days - it was terrible

We ordered from the mobile app. They ask for a tip before the service on the app. You already ordered the meal yourself?? The food came out but the drinks didn’t. I went to the bar and got them myself. Tip already given and surcharged gst. Something isn’t right. How can you tip before you receive service? Advise do not tip until your served.

Lorne Hotel provides comfortable accommodation and serves appetizing meals. However, the hotel's main claim to fame is its role as an anchor in the annual Pier to Pub race, which is one of the world's most prominent and challenging open water swimming races. The Pier to Pub race is held every January.

A 3 star hotel says it all, as rated on google. Don’t expect much more; however, the price for a stay is higher than the value one receives. The bad news is: the entire hotel/restaurants are a bit dirty and unkept. The good is: location, parking and a grand view with cold beer.

We had lunch in the bistro of the hotel today. Both ordered burgers at $26. Mine was a veggie burger. It was the worst burger I have eaten after many years of being vegetarian. I had to ask if the burger was non meat as it looked like meat. It was so processed. I left half. At $26 I would have enjoyed a good burger with salad. Not today. Wish I had been strong and sent it back……

This was an expensive hotel providing budget hotel reality. On the positive side the room and bathroom were clean. Fantastic location but it doesn’t make up for the other defects. Stained carpet, marked duvet cover, unwiped side table with tea stains and in a drawer another guests 7 day tablet box with tablets, rotten window frame, rings missing off of curtain track and no cups to make a cup of tea/coffee. However the worst fault is the lack of soundproofing from other residents rooms. A rude 630 am wake up call from the neighbours TV and the movement in their wardrobe was unbelievable.

The Lorne Pier to Pub swim takes in the Lorne Pier and the Lorne Hotel, which is metres from the ocean. It's one of the world's most popular open water races, over 1.2 km and 5 km courses. The swim is organised by the Lorne Surf Life Saving Clubs. It was originally intended to be a fun swim, but now the winner achieves great honour.

Had an enjoyable stay, friendly staff and a great spot. Didn’t overly enjoy the restaurants at the premises being Movida, overpriced and seemed all preprepared , fancy fast food. We had a great stay in Lorne. Lovely spot, very relaxing and will return .

i am extremely disappointed with my stay at the Lorne hotel, and i'm not sure where to start as there was so much, it basically was a budget hotel with a price tag of a nice hotel (probably due to the position) i would not stay here again. we booked the 2 bedroom apartment for 5 nights - car parking was available on site, and they did ensure we had a spot. there was a $100 hold on your card for any extra cleaning they may have to do after you left, which after seeing the apartment i felt was a bit of a pisstake! The bathroom was the worst of the lot, gouges out of the door, paint peeling off, doors that didn't shut properly, toilet seat that stuck and didn't flush properly and the worst the tap was loose!! the shower was behind the door and was dark (no light over or near the shower) but the water pressure was good. it did have laundry facilities. only one of the bedrooms has cooling (fan) and some form of bedside lighting - going as friends or even couples meant someone was disadvantaged - why would you not put a fan in both rooms and a bedside lamp? and one power point power per room? again not even near the bed for the second bedroom. my room had tape and paint on the handles still, paint was peeling off the wall. The couches were comfy and large and there was plentiful side tables, however there was no wifi service at all (couldn't even get the hotel wifi to show up - did have strong service from the hotel behind!!!) and couldnt make use use of the smart tv or use netflix!! there is a large side shelving and instead of using this for the crockery that was hidden under the sink - i'm guessing from a closed down cafe? a hodge podge of items, no small plates (it was either platter size or tea saucers) no mugs - could have had them displayed on the shelves and made easier to get, it's all these little things that affect the stay. The air con in the lounge was good - but didn't extend to the bedrooms (especially to help the bedroom with no cooling) The windows were the old winding types (and i mean they were old) - fly screens falling out of them old! the patio doors had bolt locks which looked like someone had tried to break them previously (not a good look for safety) - but no flyscreen on the door so if you wanted to get ocean breeze - you also got every fly in town! the fly screen on the front door has a hole just near the lock, which concerned us when leaving the door locked but open. and the lights outside the rooms never went off all night (shouldn't they be sensor?) the best part of the whole apartment is a private courtyard out the front - seating and umbrella so you can enjoy the sounds of the ocean whilst having a drink or a meal. Also the pregnant lady on the front desk (apologies i can't recall your name ) was an absolute gem, she really tried to rectify some of the issues we had, and gave a dinner voucher to apologize (appreciated) Overall there was too many problems - i'm sure the price is reflective of the location, because this was a budget hotel with premium prices. whoever did the renovation skipped lots of the details - those small things that make your stay memorable for the right reasons!!! unfortunately i would not recommend this place at all - very disappointing as i'm a big believer in supporting local business.

We’ve eaten at this venue many times over the years - and have to say caveat emptor for those attending this summer Steaks now come with chips and sauce ONLY - evidently in an effort to persuade customers who want anything resembling a balanced meal to pay an extra $12 for each and every side dish. It’s a brilliant marketing ploy! Bon appetit 😕
