We spent 2 nights at Lemonade Creek Cottages and were delighted by our stay. Liz and Roy are such adorable owners. They are very friendly and gave us lots of tips and advises. The property is amazingly maintained and the self contained cottages are adorable. Everything was perfect. The properly is located in the forest a few minutes drive from Lorne. The cottages are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. If you are lucky you'll be able to spot a koala, the wallabies or kangaroos relaxing on the lawn or encounter the beautiful Australian parrots or cockatoos.
If you are looking for a quiet place, close to nature, this is the place !!

Although most people travelling to Lorne really want to have a seaview, they are missing out on this gorgeous oasis just a few ks from Lorne. We booked 3 cottages for a mid week break with friends visiting from the UK. We had tried to get in October last year but they were fully booked.
What to expect?? - literally a home away from home. The pictures on the Internet cannot capture how wonderful each of these cottages are. As we had 3 out of the 6 cottages we feel that we can objectively comment that they are all as gorgeous on the inside as each other. If you want peace and quiet and lots of wildlife on your doorstep and balcony this place is a must. The cost per night is unbelievable especially when most of the cottages have two bedrooms and would easily sleep a family of four.
The extra little touches make these cottages and their surroundings in a class of their own.
From the dishwasher tablets to the eco bug spray.
A basket filled with a large pot of Jam, a crusty loaf and lots of individual cereal boxes. The bottle of wine !! In the fridge a litre of milk, bottles of orange juice, butter cheese and crackers.
Lots of towels including tea towels. Bin Bags also supplied with your own 2 bins outside the front door.
The bathrooms are huge, toilet is separate. Handwash and showergel, shampoo and conditioner all provided in dispensers, fab idea. 2 person spa bath literally is enormous!
Fluffly foot towels, again like you would use at home. For the quick wash through sep laundry sink in the bathroom. Shower pressure fantastic and always hot water.
There is a big emphasis on eco friendly and there are lovely little notes left around the cottages which is a nice touch.
The beds are very comfortable and you have plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes and chest of drawers that are both lined and have the lavendar pillows in them.
The seating area off the kitchen is amazing with a lovely open fire for the cooler months. Big squashy seats and a great LCD TV (if you would ever to sit and want to watch it!!) The kitchen has a microwave and full size fridge, but quite a small freezer (just in case anyone is bringing food for a week) The BBQs are easily big enough to feed a barbie for 5 (we did!).
The hosts of the cottages come and introduce themselves then leave you to it, the only time you will see them is when they are loading the bird tables at your balcony once a day. Expect to see parrots, cockatoos and some amazing small finches that we have never seen before!! Also (we were in cottage 3) amazing views down over the grass towards the woods, at dusk we were lucky enough to see 3 kangaroos!!
There are 6 cottages in total, any one of them would be fantastic, we had 1,3 and 4 each got their own individual favourite birds.
The grounds are lovely either to walk in or just sit and look at the view. They are just a stone throw from Erskine Water Falls and Ray gave us lots of walks to consider if we didnt want to do the full walk there and back. Tip - bring trainers or walking boots if you are thinking about doing the walk.
Otherwise you can drive 2 mins to the falls and climb down the steps - be warned a lot of steps back up!
Each cottage has its own carparking space.
If you want to eat out, book ahead of travelling at the Maple Tree - last October we went and it was in a tiny little shack. Not anymore it has gone upmarket and is now on the main street. See maple tree reviews for full story!!
Also there is a heated outdoor pool with loads of beds, you just need to bring your own towel!! - all fenced off and well away from the cottages. Apparently in Winter they put a roof over the whole thing!! - also tennis courts and a putting green - we didnt try either of these, but I did do a spot of sunbathing on one of the terraces around the pool, plenty of shade and umbrellas all on wooden decking and really well thought out.
All in all, our friends from the UK didnt want to leave! we are definately going back in Winter so we can get the fire going. A place to return to time and again

We stayed at these self-contained cottages in June, out of season, but loved the solitude.
The accomodation had everything needed for a quiet break in the hills above Lorne.
We're not great 'stout' walkers, but we set off throught the forest to visit the spectacular Erskine Falls, a real delight.
In the morning we awoke to see the beautiful 'parrots' feeding on our bird table, not a sight you get in Kent.
Whilst in Lorne we saw a wallaby in someones garden and took a trip to an area frequented by koala bears in the gum trees. truly wonderful.

Not far out of Lorne - so, it's not by the beach but this is a different Lorne experience as it is in the hinterland near Erskine Falls. We could only stay one night but it was lovely. It was a cool November day so we appreciated the heating being on when we arrived. The cottage is set in the most gorgeous forest glade. Lots of birds that our host put seed out & they cam onto the verandah to feed. The cottage has everything you could want for self-catering. We used the BBQ on the verandah. It is very spacious & we had a very comfortable stay watching the birds, enjoying the complimentary wine & had a relaxing evening in the cosy loungeroom.

Meticulously kept rooms decorated in traditional style throughout but will all modern conveniences including spa bath and separate shower! Breakfast goodies provided including gluten free cereal and bread, yoghurt, low fat spreadable honey and jams, and fruit; excellent. The surroundings are peaceful and attractive with many Australian Birds feeding outside the cottages. Laundry facilities in reception but on this occasion tumble dryer was not working. although more expensive than other rental properties the overall experience was good value . Lorne and Great Ocean road only beginning to open up for season but a good time to visit.

Although I've seen the wonderful pictures on Tripadvisor, it was still far beyond my expectation when I arrived. It was a hidden garden along (not so far from) the famous Great Ocean Road.

My family and I stayed in Cottage 2. The cottage is so beautiful, all with fine decorations! The toy, flowers, books, kitchen, beds... All wonderful! It was so quiet and peaceful. Birds around, kangaroo not far away, flowers all over the place and the big old trees standing nearby.

Ray was very sweet, there were welcome greeting on the small cute blackboard in the cottage. They are very generous since you can find chocolate, wine and juice in the cottage. Bathroom looks great with all green outside of the window.

Will definitely return if any trip to Loren in the future. It is a perfect place for family and kids to have a quality quiet get together.

We booked in at short notice grabbing the last cottage. Ten minutes after arriving we secured a second night.
A beautiful and peaceful location. The cottage was fabulous, had everyhthing we needed and drinks, supper and breakfast on the balcony was wonderful. Listening to and watching the bird life. Had numerous visits to see the resident koala. It was just a few Kms from Erskine falls and the woodland walk to it was great.
The hosts, Liz and Ray were brilliant.

It’s a long way to return from down under- but if we did then we would be sure to revisit.
Kevin and Julie, Farnham, England.

These cottages are set in the most beautiful, peaceful location. I was a bit worried about staying outside of Lorne, but when we got there I was delighted with my choice. Such an abundance of wildlife in the grounds, was great to sit on our porch and watch the birds and kanagroos. Cottage was very clean and well stocked, and beds were super comfy. Wine and milk in the fridge when we arrived, what more could you want! Thank you Ray and Liz. We hope to return.

I stayed here on the weekend of the Amy's Gran Fondo cycling event and it was absolutely perfect. Set in picturesque bush about 10 minutes drive outside of Lorne, it really is the ideal place for a relaxing stay. The cottage was absolutely charming and spacious, the spa bath the ideal place to soothe my aching muscles after the ride and the breakfast goodies, wine and cheese and other treats that were thoughtfully made available all gratefully received. I will return for sure with my family. What a wonderful spot!

We travelled with our overseas guests from London, South Africa and Brisbane.....to show them the Great Ocean Road.
What a delightful surprise Lemonade Cottages was to us all...we booked two two bedroom cottages for the 8 of us.....after a long day of travel, what a warm welcome we had, our cottages each with baskets of cereals, fresh bread, cheeses, wine etc, we ate that delicious bread at an instant!
Rooms were comfortable, DVD and books to make you relax....but what was so exciting for overseas visitors were the bird life, cockatoos, rosellas, and early morning wallabies,.... Ray left food out on the verandah for the birds so we could get up close.
Erskine Falls was a lovely 45 minute walk there and back...really worthwhile.
Cottages had beautiful gardens ...
Thank you Lemonade Cottages for a wonderful relaxing stay.
