Spent two nights here in the Otway two bedroom cottage. There are about 7 or so cottages and another 5 glamping tents.
On our arrival our hosts already had the wood fire stoked up and going.
Our cottage was very clean, with a double bed upstairs and a single bed and a double bunk bed downstairs.
Stepping out on the verandah, you look out over the valley. A weber BBQ is available if the weather is right.
We took a quick walk around the property which only takes about 10 mins. There are a few places for kids activities including volleyball, and a rope course.
It didn’t take too long to hear the sounds of kookaburras, and a half dozen White Cockatoos came over and landed on the veranda railing.
A nice touch was the tub of bird seed that was provided in the lounge room next to a number of great books about native birds.
The veranda actually had a bird seed and watering fitting attached especially for the visiting birds.
As the temperature dropped in the evening we threw a few more logs on the fire. The beds had electric blankets and the double upstairs room also had a seperate aircon/heater.
The location is around 5 kms inland from Lorne.
Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Glamping in the eco tents was a wonderful experience. The tents are on a platform so you are above the lawn where the kangaroos gather and cockatoos come and land on the verandah. The small room is so cosy with a comfy double bed with electric blankets and there’s also bunk beds. There’s a small lounge/kitchen area with a couch as well as microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge but there’s a Weber bbq outside. In the cupboard there’s everything required incl a selection of teas plus coffee and hot choc, spray oil as well as crockery and cutlery plus milks in the fridge. There’s also a tv, fan and blow heater which quickly heated up the room. It’s just a five min drive from the town but feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere and the properties are nicely spread out and private and with a balcony with chairs and table you feel at one with nature. There are a few fire pits outside all ready to go for a fun way to watch the wildlife and chill out. A really super place to spend a few days run by a lovely couple.

After losing my father in a car accident in November and then my nan in March, my husband and I decided we needed a break and hubby booked us into the Lorne bush house cottages and it was exactly what we needed for some peace and rest away from all we’ve been through. The Horizons cottage was absolutely perfect and beautifully clean and cozy. It had everything we needed and more with a very comfortable bed and a lovely spa for two. Plus the yabby dam was a lot of fun, haven’t been yabbying in years. Many thanks to Chris the owner for all of his friendly assistance to myself and my husband. He was a lovely hard working man. Two of the highlights for us was being able to feed the cheeky cockatoo’s on the balcony and seeing the Roos grazing in the field. The other added bonus to staying here was that it was close to the main drag but far enough out to feel somewhat “away from it all”. We loved this property and the beauty that is Lorne so much we booked an extra night. I’d never been to Lorne prior to this trip but i absolutely adored it. Having the best of both worlds of the beach AND the bush, you couldn’t ask for better than that. We’ll be back for sure. Xxx

We stayed one night in an Eco Retreat, the retreat had all the conveniences with a kitchenette, TV and ensuite as well as a BBQ and veranda with outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was a cold night and the heating was inadequate as we hadn't packed for winter weather in February. The heating was a small oscillating fan heater and the cooling provided was a fan. Also although the bed had an electric blanket one side wasn't working. The bed was too soft for our comfort. The property itself is set in the bush and the veranda of the eco retreat is at the height of the trees so that we could get good views of the native birds. We also had a group of Cockatoos come in for a feed in the morning, quite charming.

Thank you for a lovely little stay in the cute cottages. Everything we needed for our family of 5. Kids thought it was 5 star, for the indoor and outdoor fire pits, cute quilts, loft bed, heated towel rack and spa bath. Short drive into town. Would highly recommend.

My family has yet to stay at this beautiful looking spot. Due to unexpected COVID restrictions we couldn't travel. I contacted the owners only the day before we were to arrive to change our travels plans and were dealt with patiently, politely and kindly with full consideration of the difficult situation we were in.
I'll definitely be booking again and look forward to the chance to experience their hospitality first hand.

We were so looking forward to our stay here, but what we ended up with was a tent, yes, a TENT, that was described as a "lodge" on our booking form, with other very interesting descriptions, such as heating (a four bar electric heater), cooling (a pedestal fan), kitchenette (a sink, microwave and bar fridge) and the big one, an "ensuite" which was a tiny bathroom behind a corrugated tin wall. There was barely any room to place our luggage, and our holiday consisted of doing everything we could, for as late as we could, to avoid going back to this tin can of a place we called home for four days/nights. It was freezing cold on the few stormy nights we had and stinking hot on the one very hot day in the middle of our stay. No Foxtel. No Internet. The BBQ was dirty, and even if we were motivated enough to clean it, there's no room to stand and cook without char-grilling a body part at the same time. We originally booked for five nights, but by day four, we were so fed up, we left early. At $240 a night, we felt ripped off and very, very disappointed. Yes, we complained. We were told, "This is what you booked!" The beds had one pillow per person. Luckily we packed our own. The main bed is butted up against the canvas wall of the tent, so in order not to wake your partner, for the person sleeping on this side, getting out means climbing down to the end of the bed to the floor. There's a key to lock the front door, which is laughable, since all you need to do to get inside is walk the side deck and unzip the back of the tent to gain entry. No security at all. We took our computer, camera and any other valuables with us whenever we went out. They were safer in the car! There are self-contained cottages on this property, and for this price, a cottage is what you should be getting. The birdlife was nice, but we didn't need to pay $1200 to see a few Cockatoos and Kookaburras on the porch. If you're into camping, you can do it much cheaper than this, and if you think it might be a bit of fun to experience the hype of what's supposedly called "glamping" (glamourous camping) - DON'T! Either rough-it and camp out for real, on a budget, as camping is meant to be, or go to a motel for the same price as this and be comfortable on your much-deserved holiday. We feel like we need a holiday to get over this experience, but unfortunately, this one was it for the year for us :(

1st call to Carol was rather abrupt, but I figured she was just busy.
We did arrive to a very warm cottage but that’s about as warm & fuzzy as it got!
It was a very very cold, wet & windy Saturday night in Lorne, so we were excited to just ‘stay’ in & have a good sleep in. I had surprised my partner this whole weekend, so also brought brekky provisions to cook up a storm, so to speak. We awoke around 10am...a huge sleep in for us, to a power black out. The stove was electric, NO water at all & no heating. We had no choice but to pack up & head into town for brekky. Now, to be fair, Carol was very generous with the wood & the power outage was not her fault.....BUT & here’s the rub. It cost $290 for the night through bookings.com. We use them because they offer a loyalty program. I emailed Carol to simply see if she could reimburse us a small something as a gesture of goodwill because of the power blackout & I got a rather terse email back telling me I was ill advised to use bookings.com as they add 12% to the bill & I could’ve used the bbq on the freezing deck to cook & if I’ve still got an issue, to take it up with powercore!
A simple $20 could’ve changed this review completely. We will not recommend this place as it’s not value for money. It’s fairly run down & needs painting etc!

My family recently returned from Oz and had the pleasure of staying in one of the new eco tents....an experience we will always remember. The accomodation was brilliant and our hosts,Carol and Chris couldnt have been more helpful from suggesting were to go for shopping in Lorne to giving us a shorter and much quicker route back from the 12 Apostles ...the memory of waking up after the first night to finding a mother `roo and her joey in front of the tent will always b with us a superb setting and if we ever get back to Oz is somewhere we will think of staying again...reasonably priced too....many thanks Carol and Chris
