Detailed Reviews
We have just returned from 5 restful nights at this delightful property. My husband and I were charmed by the lovely Laurel and Sue who made sure that we were looked after and enjoyed all of the marvellous attractions on offer in beautiful Lorne. They booked our restaurants and were vey informative regarding galleries, walks and other attractions. Our room was just perfect, super comfortable kitted out with beautiful linens and Aesop products not to mention the French bubbles in the cute little retro fridge. We had a lovely balcony looking out to the water over treetops where many hours were spent reading and listening to the birds. Breakfast each day was offered in the garden, weather permitting, freshly squeezed juice, fruit platter and other delicious and healthy treats.
We will definitely stay here again, it's accommodation with a heart and soul!

It's been a long time since I've stayed anywhere like La Perouse. My partner and I had a sneaky mid week getaway and loved our stay here. The rooms are beautiful with views of the water, Aesop bath products, a baby Smeg fridge full of goodies and the most amazing bed! Breakfast is delicious and Laurel makes a great coffee as well. The gardens are lovely and we had tea on the terrace when we arrived. It's a short walk into town and Laurel and Sue know all the best places to eat. We will definitely be back!

This is an absolutely wonderful place for a couples getaway. Perfectly located, this is a beautiful place for couples to enjoy everything Lorne has to offer while enjoying a luxurious and relaxing stay. Both Laurel and Sue are the perfect hosts! Importantly, we enjoyed the lack of crowds in this more personal, friendly and welcoming place. Breakfast was special with personal attention and fresh, local ingredients. La Perouse is a very special place and we look forward to returning soon. Thanks!!!

We arrived at 6.30pm and struggled to find room 4, the outside studio. It is actually signed as 26a. This caused us some confusion. We didn’t want to go into someone else’s property.
The room is lovely and full of character. It is only about 25 square metres in size and is somewhat impractical in design. There is very little space to put anything. Fortunately we had managed to park in one of the two parking spaces, so were able to keep some of our belongings in the car. There is a glass shelf about 8cm above the taps on the narrow handbasin, which made teeth cleaning and face washing difficult. The room did not have tea and coffee making facilities, although there was a kettle and 2 sleep tight teabags. Some tea, coffee and fresh milk would have been nice.
Breakfast was very good, but is only served between 8.30 and 9.30. We did ask for a slightly later check out, but this couldn’t be given because of Covid.
We did feel that $550 was far too much to pay for this room, given its small size, lack of facilities and the inflexibility of the hosts.

+1
La Perouse was well styled and a comfortable stay. We splashed out for a special occasion and while we weren’t disappointed we weren’t wowed. For $550 p/n we would have expected some surprise and delight during our stay, and more transparency about amenities in the room. There’s no milk, even though there is tea and a kettle provided. There’s no cutlery or plates provided either which makes it tricky to have a cheese plate out on the balcony or an afternoon snack. A reasonable way of enjoying the room, I would think. There’s also not a lot of space for suitcases and bags and only one indoor chair and one balcony chair which means a bit of moving around furniture for companionable time, or quiet solo time - it’s a compact room. Unfortunately the hot water system wasn’t up to washing long hair x 2 and one of us needed to go to breakfast with wet conditioned hair and hop back in again afterwards to rinse it out and finish showering. No apology was offered.
The hosts would also do well to be more careful with the dusting as there were several cobwebs in corners by the bed, on the ceiling and on the metal clothing rack. The white interiors and mouldings seem to make it difficult to keep on top of regular dust.
The addition of the light up tree, and fake flowers on the mantelpiece detracted from the feeling of luxury unfortunately.
This is a place that seems suited to older, wealthy travellers who enjoy getting to know the hosts. As a millennial couple, it was a little like staying with your grandmas. We didn’t feel particularly welcome or like we were the clientele they preferred.
The room itself (number four - the suite) had a lovely distant ocean view through the trees and across town, and we loved looking at the sea whilst having the gas fire blazing and being cosy in bed.
The boiled eggs at breakfast were a highlight. Absolutely perfect.

LE PEROUSE has a really lovely charm. The two owners have fulfilled a lifelong dream here and every guest benefits from it. Very stylish room furnishings with many well thought-out details, a fresh and individually prepared breakfast and the proximity to the beach all go together perfectly. Be careful, there are only 4 or 5 rooms that are sometimes unavailable for longer periods during the season and rightly so.

Sue and Laurel have ensured that when you stay in your beautiful room you are immersed in elegance. The room was beautifully adorned with white decor, small Smeg fridge luxury bath products and most of all the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The view from the roof on was lovely catching glimpses of the Lorne coastline. The breakfast was scrumptious. Recommend a short drive to Teddys lookout with short tracks to catch views of the Otways and Saint George’s River. It is a steep walk into the town so recommend to the relatively fit.

Sue and Laurel very welcoming. Bed was extremely comfortable with beautiful french linen. Our room had a wonderful gas fireplace which made the room very cosy. Both hosts were very generous giving information about places to visit along the Great Ocean Road and excellent restaurants to eat at. Delicious breakfast available. Loved our afternoon tea in the garden even had an echidna visit with us one day. Enjoyed our time in Lorne and at La Peruse. Thankyou.

La Perouse is one of our favourite small luxury hotels. We returned after a bit of a hiatus due to Covid. This place is full of style from the Parisian breakfast served on the deck to the luxurious beds and furnishings in the guest suites.
Every time we stay Laurel and Sue welcome us back like family.

This is our 4th stay at La Perouse! We absolutely love this place, Laurel and Sue are fantastic hosts. We stayed in Suite 4, our favourite room. We love the fire, the bath and waking up to a view of the ocean, not to mention the comfy bed. Every detail in the room has been considered. The warmth and kindness from Sue and Laurel is exceptional. As we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we arrived to a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolates. They went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. We highly recommend La Perouse. We will return!
