Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 3 nights while vacationing for the first time on Phillip Island. It was a very conveniently located and inexpensive staging spot for getting to the hikes and tours on the island, as well as being close to the downtown. The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Some noise from adjacent rooms can be heard, but it was never problematic.

The Seahorse motel is located about 7 minutes’ walk from Cowes town centre and about a 5 minute walk from the beach. We stayed two nights there and found it to be very good. There is a small solar heated outdoor swimming pool and a very pleasant area for sitting outside and having a BBQ. There was ample car parking in front of our room which although medium sized was well appointed with a shower, kettle, fridge, hair dryer, double bed and an additional single bed and a circular table for eating or working. The owner was very flexible offering to give us a late checkout on our room, which we appreciated. There is a guest laundry available although we were disappointed to learn that the tumble drier was not working and had not been working for several months.

Friendliest managers ever who went out of their way to be helpful. My wife and I (retirees) stayed 4 nights in a two room unit; bedroom and lounge-full kitchen. All spacious and very clean with plenty of room (even for couples with two children). There is a kids' playground, a pool and BBQ; all family friendly.
This unit is totally wheelchair friendly; no step at front door. My manual wheelchair moved around the lounge easily and I accessed the toilet and shower easily (shower chair provided, wall bars at toilet and shower). A TV in the bedroom as well as one in the lounge room; that's practical. Talking about practical, they even had the gear to pump up the tyres on my wheelchair.
Conveniently located to everything but for those of us in manual wheelchairs -outside of the motel precinct, Cowes is a hilly area.

I made a booking via booking.com but cancelled it within the free cancellation period. As I have got all those confirmed cancellation from booking.com, I didn't pay much attention to my statement and expected that I wasn't charged for anything. However, i recently noticed that this hotel has actually charged me for a stay I cancelled during free cancellation back in Nov 2023 and they refused to refund me. Basically the hotel said it was booking.com that charged me and booking.com said it's the hotel that charged me. Based on my experience with booking.com in similar situations, it was ALWAYS the hotels that charged me because when I contacted the hotels, they refunded me without the need for me to contact booking.com. The practice of this hotel is really dodgy!

We stayed here recently on a last minute booking to get away from Melbourne during the last days of summer. This was the only reasonably-priced accomodation available. We had inadvertently chosen to stay on a very busy weekend for Phillip Island (motor bike racing). When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by what was a very clean, comfortable and good sized accomodation. Happy Days!! Also, there was a lovely swimming pool (outside) and a playground for kids. What a great place for families- just saying, we come into the couple category. Parking handy, just outside the door and the site itself very close to the shops and beach.
There were even biscuits supplied for our arrival pleasure - some 5 star hotels are too tight to offer that, and they were most appreciated. We will definitely stay here again.

The pictures on the net are shown in a very idealized way. On site, some have already become very old. Nice and clean we unfortunately cannot confirm.

Furthermore, we unfortunately forgot clothes in the closet. Despite phone and mail they were not ready to send the clothes even though we would have paid the cost. We didn't even get any more answers.

What an excellent surprise the Seahorse motel was. Our studio room was obviously recently renovated inside. A very spacious suite for two people. Very large kitchenette with a full sized fridge, stand alone oven and adequate cooking utensils. The room was very clean. Very friendly staff indeed.

We were visiting Phillip Island for a couple of nights and stayed at the Seahorse Motel which was fairly close to the main shopping area in Cowes. Our room was clean and each room had its own car space out the front of their room. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities good. The free WiFi worked without a problem. There is a nice play area for the kids and the pool did look inviting but the weather wasn’t.

My wife and I stayed at Seahorse Motel for three nights over the Australia Day long weekend and enjoyed our time there. A 5 minute walk to the beach and the main street main access to all that we needed very easy. The rooms had all that we needed, they attended to the room each day, but was disappointed that the towels had not been replaced.

We stayed 3 nights here with our baby son and enjoyed our stay. The motel is in a great location, 5 min walk to the main street of Cowes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and freshly fitted and have good Wi-Fi reception. There is a playground for kids and a pool and BBQ. Laundry facilities are also available. We would stay here again.

It was a good size bed which would probably accommodate the four of you. Whether the motel would permit this is something only they can answer.
