We rented the Gate House for two nights. Glen Isla House is in a great location, just walk down through the lovely garden and you are on the beach. Go out through the front gate and you are not far from the centre of Cowes with great beaches and restaurants. Ian and Maddie were

Thanks for taking a few minutes to leave us a review, and thanks especially for your personal recommendation. It means a lot to us, and we certainly appreciate it. Beach out the back gate, authentic & very private heritage gardens, shops, cafes & restaurants nearby, are the things that our guests appreciate and comment on regularly. A warm welcome is the foundation to our hospitality here at Glen Isla... Our new 'substantial continental-style' breakfast format has been inspired by Ian who is a professional chef. It came in response to feedback in recent times that guests are seeking a healthier breakfast selection, and the feedback has been superb, so thanks indeed for your comments on our breakfast offering. We hope to welcome you to Glen Isla again soon... Warm regards, Ian & Maddie Owners & Hosts Glen Isla House Glen Isla since c1870 and welcoming guests since 2003

Thanks indeed for taking the time to write a very comprehensive review... We're always inspired by reviews such as this, as our aim is always to offer a great experience for our guests here on Phillip Island, and at Glen Isla House. Much of what we offer here at Glen Isla has been shaped by the 'best' of our own travel experiences living and working all over the world for many years, and your comments suggest we have it right! To your point, we're not focused on the budget end of the market - far from it. We are focused on discerning travellers, seeking elegant functional accommodations accompanied by a warm welcome and great personal service. As a heritage listed property, Glen Isla comes with some wonderful attributes, including large areas of authentic and very private heritage gardens with the back-drop of century-old trees, and direct access to a pristine sandy beach. Even in busy summer holiday periods, Glen Isla offers a peaceful haven away from the outside world... On the other hand, as 'custodians' of this little piece of Phillip Island history, we are charged with maintaining an historic home and gardens. To maintain the standards we have set for our style of hospitality and accommodation, does mean our tariffs are higher than most here on Phillip Island. We feel we offer something a little different, and certainly not a corporate or homogenised hotel-type experience! The 290+ reviews here on TripAdvisor would seem to support that... That said, we are proud of our accommodations and our multiple awards over many years, singling us out as one of the most awarded accommodation properties on Phillip Island. Thanks again for your custom and your kind words... We certainly appreciate it! Kind regards, Ian & Madeleine Baker Owner & Hosts at Glen Isla House Glen Isla since c1870, and welcoming gusts since 2003.

We stayed here for one night to visit the penguins and koala sanctuary and could have happily stayed for longer. The accomodation is first class and the breakfast, fresh, flavoursome and well done. The hosts were delightful and extremely helpful. Gave us lots of information

Thanks indeed for the review and kind words... As regular travellers, we've appreciated similar hospitality in Europe/UK/USA, and here in Australia, so we always aim to make our guests welcome and share the local knowledge so they may enjoy the best of what there is to see and do here on our wonderful island (apart from seeing the Little Penguins). Thanks also for you comments on our breakfast offering - also based on our travel experiences! Always pleasing to hear we've 'hit the mark'... Thanks for choosing Glen Isla and we certainly hope to welcome you back if you are travelling in our region again. Warm regards, Ian & Madeleine Owners & Hosts @ Glen Isla House Glen Isla since c1870 and warmly welcoming guests since 2003!

Thanks indeed for your fabulous review! Glen Isla certainly offers extensive private heritage gardens (just under 2 acres), all just 100 metres from a pristine sandy beach for an early morning walk, or an evening stroll along the water's edge at sunset. There is a lot to do here on our beautiful island, and with world class wineries & restaurants nowadays to enhance the wildlife experiences and round-out a short break or an extended exploration of things to see and do... We're always pleased to make recommendations on dining options and things to see and do, and of course go over the local map with our guests here in the guest lounge. Thanks for choosing Glen Isla - we realise you had a choice of accommodations and we were pleased to have been of service. If you are travelling this way again, we would be very pleased to welcome you back here at Glen Isla House... Kind regards, Ian & Madeleine Owners & Hosts @ Glen Isla Glen Isla since c1870, and warmly welcoming guests since 2003

Dear Rhonda, Apologies for the delayed reply. We are currently closed for our annual winter recess and have been away from the property for a few days on our break. We close every year for a winter break, while we undertake our annual maintenance on our historic property, and we take a break from the business.... There are a number of restaurants nearby in town that offer dinner (some offer NYE dinner packages), and we can make some suggestions if you wish. We do not operate a restaurant at Glen Isla House these days... Please make contact with us directly via our web site email (shown on our TripAdvisor listing) and we can provide further information directly. Kind regards, Ian Baker Owner & General Manager Glen Isla House
