Chose to overnight here as it was conveniently located in the main street. We did not eat here so no comment about the food. I agree with other recent reviews, the person on reception clearly didn't want to be there. It was an effort just to book us in. No welcome, no can we help, do you want a meal or any kind of chat or recommendation. Also the next morning when returning the key there was no thanks for staying, please come again etc just "I suppose I'll just have to pick up your key" not even goodbye. Aside from the staff the room was a basic motor inn. Room was clean and the bathroom had been modernised, bed was comfortable, adequate tea and coffee supplies. Decor a tad 70's/80's but ok. Didn't hear any street noise as we were about half way along the motel block. Only stay here for the convenience to the main street and only if it is a quick overnighter, think the staff would be too depressing to stay any longer.

On a Sunday night in Colac there looked to be few eating places open so we tried this hotel's dining room, hoping for nothing fancy, simply a hearty pub meal and friendly service. The outcome was so-so. The young woman behind the counter was poorly trained and tired or bored. We had to ask for menus etc. The meals were OK. The dining area is spacious, but there was no sense of a caring managerial presence. This is a pity, as we did not feel encouraged to stick around in Colac.

I stay at the Colac Central 2-3 times per week, and I preface this by saying its not the Ritz Carlton, BUT, the cleanliness of the rooms and the quality of service eats any 5 Star Hotel I have stayed at. They have a great room service menu that is best described as no nonsence solid pub food that is affordable and delivered to your room with a smile. I genuinally enjoy staying their and feel welcome everytime I do! Cannot recommend the Central enough.

Rooms are always clean. Manny is always welcoming and willing to help with any questions or services you may need. Was able to get room service for dinner. This is the 2nd time I have stayed and will be my place in colas from now on.thanks to the team there.

I have been meaning to do this for weeks, all this doing nothing in iso has really kept me busy! I stayed at the Central after the first lockdown and before the second. Some history for you all, I am researching the history of Hotels in Australia, and the Central Hotel forms a pretty important part of the transition from boarding houses to fancy hotels in the 1960’s. The Central was one of the first Commodore Motels - the chain the revolutionized accommodation in Australia. Enough of history and now today. Ok so reception and parts of the restaurant are a little daggy and a victim of low level neglect over the years, nothing major, just a bit like Aunty Cheryl decided to become an interior designer and for Christmas gave you a consultation. BUT, Cheryl didn’t get to the rooms, they are well appointed, nice size and very very clean. Good weefee and big internet televisions in the rooms,’solid in room dining and great hosts. Having stayed at all the hotels in Colac, the Central is streets ahead, as an overall

The others may have bigger rooms but they are dated, nice reception but rude owners, a swimming pool but freezing water etc etc etc. There tag line is the best one I have heard and makes a lot of sense “3 stars we are proud of” this shines through and for what it’s worth the Central ticks the boxes in a very high 3 star way.

I thought this Motel was simply the best!!!! One thing I always look for in a Motel room is somewhere to place my luggage. The room was extremely comfortable and it was well supplied with all the necessities. I would most definitely come back here.

Humble, clean, friendly, close to the hospital & had all I needed for the night before an operation at the hospital. It also fit our tight budget. Easy to find & access. Close to the CBD & many eateries only a few blocks away.

The woman - long blonde curly hair - was charming at first but once we settled in and couldn't get the airconditioning to work she changed. Went through the use of the remote control as though we were stupid. We went back to the room, in the cold and rain and brought the remote back to her, at which point she mentioned that it was "different to her's". She said she'd fix the airconditioning so we wouldn't be cold. We went off to dinner and came back an hour or so later - still nothing done - the remote hadn't been touched - no attempt at all to set the airconditioing on warm. So it was a chilly night. Got through by just pulling on more blankets off the other bed. Poor show all the same. next morning, she calls just after 10 to advise we need to vacate by 10.00am and to return the key when we pay for the room. Hello, I paid cash the night before - as if a businesswomen wouldn't remember. Motels always expect payment up front and we paid cash on arrival. She had to feign forgetting - ha ha - nice try lady, and very dishonest. Bad attitude, sugar pie !!!!!!!!

Friendly services though appeared to be distressed. Second visit here. New owners (apparently). I ordered the same meal as the previous visit as it was very very good. However, this time around it was rubbish. Sad return.
