Set back only 200 metres from the golden sands of Apollo Bay and a short stroll to the hub, our team offers accommodation that is clean, quiet and comfortable. Each of our rooms are equipped with a Queen bed, new large tv's, refrigerator, table and chairs, electric jug, tea and coffee facilities, electric blankets and heating to keep you snug in Winter. All of the suites also have cooling and have private balconies that open out to either ocean views or mountain views. Most of the rooms have microwave ovens and most also have baths in the ensuites. All linen has been recently renewed and is all supplied. Angela's Beach Stays is positioned at the base of Marriner's lookout, a truly remarkable snapshot in each direction of the wonderful Great Ocean road coastline that Apollo Bay forms a part of. There are a vast amount of lovely walks and treks throughout the Otways, which we can advise of when you stay. We have also had instances of the odd koala on our property as it is not far from the hillside from which they wander. Free Wifi and free off street parking is also available

Detailed Reviews
After enquiring at the Information Centre, we were referred to the Waterfront Motel across the road. Josh said it was full but he had a premium room up the road at Angela’s Beach Stays & we paid upfront from pictures of it. It was OK but hardly “premium”. The fridge wasn’t frozen and the tray was full of water which spilled over onto the floor and the TV did not work. Wifi consisted of a brief 15 minutes then gone. It was clean enough although the mould on the bathroom curtains were detracting. On the upside the electric blankets made the bed warm and cosy and we had a good sleep. It had a partial view of the sea but certainly wasn’t near the beach. Nice and quiet as there were no other guests. The rose garden was beautiful and there was off-street parking. It is a house in a suburban street with some guest rooms upstairs.

We arrived in Apollo Bay late in the evening on a busy night and had nothing booked (yeah, bad planning on our part...).
Luckily found a room at Angela's and couldn't have been happier.
The best thing about this place was the reception. The guy at reception (sorry forgot your name!) was the kindest and most welcoming human being, he went above and beyond to make us feel at home and gave us great tips on the local area. Thanks to him, our difficult, tired night into a pleasant stay. Thank you!

Amazing rooms, good hospitality by owners.great location
Had to book this on short notice for a very high price, as we weren't planning to stay at Apollo Bay and weather forced us to do so.
Still, everything was in order and comfortable.
Check in - Check Out was hassle free without having to see anyone
Cheers !!

1 night stay with husband in school hildays , we entered the unit to find two tea bags, 2 coffee sachets, 1 tiny capsule for one, of milk ( maybe a tablespoon?? 2 teaspoons of sugar 2 teabags and 2 single coffee sachets. My husband used the milk and two sugars in his coffee. On asking for more milk as we both use milk we were told no , on asking for more sugar explaining that my husband has two in his coffee, we were told no. On asking for bowls for our cereal that we'd brought with us we were told no. We were told that if we stayed for a second night they might be able to provide us with another allocation, Great, now we could make one more coffee for the next day??? We have travelled all of Australia and stayed in countless accomondations and never written a bad review. Nener encountered anything like it. Lack of hospitality and made to feel unwelcomed. We chose to stay in one of the more expensive rooms, Id hate to see what it woud be like it in the cheaper rooms....

We phoned about the beachfront motel. We were told it was full but they had a "premium room" in their other property.
It was quite a way out of town, there were no glasses, cutlery or crockery in the room (we had to buy plastic bowls and spoons to eat our breakfast). The pillows were terrible and although the bathroom was nicely renovated, the water saving shower rose sprayed in every direction except down.
Definitely NOT a premium room, and overpriced.

I book a night here thinking it was a house near the beach (BS) nope streets back from the beach. I was met by the manager who said my room was upstairs. I am mobility challenged and have a medical certificate stating so with disability parking accreditation. I said to the manager, I'm sorry I will not be able to climb those stairs, have you got a ground floor room (He answered NO). I said I would like to cancel, may I have a refund (NO). I called the booking agent many many times to sort this out to no avail. Disgusted with the way in which I was treated, I would not recommend this place to an enamy. Luke, you are a reptile.

Only good thing about this place was the nice room. Otherwise, 1) The pillows smelled of sweat and the sheets didn't seem like they were changed. 2) The stupid instructions from the owners advising us to keep their place tidy.......was this a self-contained apartment????? 3) Bed was not comfy at all.

Dingy house on estate out of town.
Dirty room and bedding. No breakfast room no wardrobes or drawers. Most expensive place we stayed at on the whole trip - but we made the mistake of paying in advance.

On first entering the house we knew things were possibly not going to go well by the treatment of the guest waiting to see someone at reception regarding a blackout in his room to which the young receptionist replied "oh I don't know what's going on today, so many complaints!" She preceeded to call the owner who made no attempt to speak directly to the guest until instructed to by the receptionist! Eventually we were given the key and climbed the winding stairs to the room. We decided not to attempt to take our suitcase to the room for fear of injury. Certainly not suitable for anyone with a disabilty or mobilty problem. The room itself was tiny but, thank god, did have an ensuite which was surprisingly large and well appointed unlike the bedroom. The doors had been removed from a built in robe in the room and this is where our non receptive portable TV was situated along with the tea and coffee facilities and hanging space. There was a microwave balancing on the bar fridge but we have yet to work out its purpose as there was no crockery or utensils spare a small tea plate and cup. Tracing the array of electrical cords we were eventaully able to turn the fidge on and make a coffee by filling the kettle from the bath tap. We went to enjoy the view from our balcony only to find that was only if standing as there was opaque glass panelling edging it. The view that was advertised was, in fact, sky! The room seemed clean on first appearances but on closer inspection the skirting boards, underneath the bed etc hadn't seem a vacuum cleaner in a very long time. The furnishings, although bright, were very worn and dated. While we were waiting the extroidinarly long time to book in we had noticed a sign in the foyer suggesting to slide breakfast menu under the roller shutter. When we went back to enquire where we got the menu from we were told that breakfast was not included in our "package". At $205 a night - what exactly was our package then? It is advertised as a B & B but is really only a B! Lots of signs adorned the walls of the room , signed by "your friendly hosts" including one that request that all noise be avoided after 10pm for the comfort of all guests. On going to the bathroom at 11pm we were to discover that this is well policed after receiving loud sharp blows to the ceiling below us - with a broom handle perhaps?
Unfortunately the experience was a dampener to our Great Ocean Road trip and we had chosen to make that our only 2 night stopover. Had there have been any accomodation anywhere else in the region we would have gladly paid the same again to be there
( there was a no refund policy) We recomend to avoid at all cost!!

Response from Angelasgh, Manager at Angela's Beach Stays
Responded 30 July 2011
Unfortunately in the small time we had a Caretaker here (unforseen urgent crisis required us to be away), their lack of commitment to their job produced the following negative reviews. Some comments, in our opinion still go too far but we understand the snowball effect and if room cleanliness and presentation is not 100% then it will generate a negative feeling on the whole property. No excuses. We identified the error and corrected it and invite you to come see for yourself how clean and tidy our property is again (As it has been for the last 15 years we have opened our doors to our many happy travelling guests). To show you our seriousness we offer 10% off ANY advertised rate if you contact us directly by e-mail and mention Tripadvisor. Thankyou for your understanding.

$220 a night for a room for 3 nights where they stopped giving you fresh soap after the first, no air conditioning that you could control, no dvd player, no radio, old tv with poor reception, not even enough fresh towels for the day! You would think that for $220 a night they could do better than just giving you two complimentary biscuits and a few tea bags a day.
We were really disappointed with the poor amenities, hard beds, the lack of any genuine service and annoyed at signs in our room telling us to try and make no noise after 10pm including any voice sounds.
The reality is our room was just part of a large house, where you felt that you were being ripped off, being charged twice what the room was worth and getting no genuine service from it's owners.
