We recently stayed as a family of 4 in a beach view lodge. We booked our accommodation directly and received complimentary wine and chocolates, always a great touch!
Not much to look at from the outside but lovely inside! There's a gas fireplace and you can see the ocean from inside the bathroom/shower or you can close the privacy screen. Close to town as well.
The main difference between the top lodges and the ocean view lodges is the location. The top lodges are located higher up the hill. Still a fantastic view from either!

On the last stop of our Round-the-World tour we finally wanted to see the Great Ocean Road, but with only four days available, where would it be optimal to stay? After having chosen Apollo Bay, the rest was easy, the apparently full frontal ocean views from the rooms at Seafarers Getaway did it. When stepping through the front door of one of the self-catering rooms we weren't disappointed, a wall of glass towards the sea and the beach. The road in front is almost hidden from view. The room itself is modern, one almost feels at home with what looks like a kind of Nordic design, light and airy. On the other hand one looks in vain for the " warm country hospitality" when arriving, it is more like a no nonsense business in touristy place where you don't have to attract visitors – and by the way "make sure you clean the dishes" before you leave. No matter, we enjoyed our stay, even though the weather was unseasonal cold and wet, only staying in the outside patio chairs for a few moments of sunshine. Slept well to the slapping of the waves and the whirring of the heating system. Spent the few day visiting The Twelve Apostles, London Bridge, trekking along the coast near Cape Otway, finding sleepy Koalas at The Grey River road, (but come early before the tour buses from Melbourne arrive)

We booked an Ocean View Room and were not disappointed with the view or the quiet surrounds. Loved watching the Alpacas and the ducks from our deck. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best and Apollo Bay was very quiet with little opened. The room amenities are basic and sparse and for a resort, not adequate. For the cost per night, I feel more should be offered. Business card inside the room, states that by booking directly with Seafarers, you will receive a choice of three offers. I did book direct but no special offers were offered!! (sad, because we were celebrating a special birthday ) There was contactless check in and check out which I fully understand during these times, but some friendly interaction would have been appreciated. Such as when leaving, the gentleman sitting on the couch in reception just pointed to the envelope holders outside the door, indicating to leave the key room in one of the holders. Maybe next time, get up off the couch, slide the door open, thank us for staying, hope we had a good time, wish us a safe journey home ?? I was wearing a mask and well away from the reception door. . Just basic customer service really. TV reception is not great, on the second evening we could not watch any channel. WIFI slow. Stay for the beautiful view but amenities need to improve.

We booked one of their deluxe room with sea view for an over night stay as we were driving back to the city. The room was exceptionally clean and very cozy with the fire heat to warm you up as you could feel the breeze from ocean. The only disappointment was the balcony lock isn’t working so it was not safe during the night. I had to drag my partner when we heard a loud noise at wee hours-it feels like someone was tryin to open the door. Also, when we checked out, I was very surprised to learn that they’ve collected the payment from my card 3 weeks prior when it clearly mentioned that they would charge us on arrival. Their management can do better by updating their terms had it been changed. No apologies from them at all. The lady said I should speak to booking.com instead. I use this app to book hotels and trips but never had any issues. To sum it up, location and the room is as good as you seen in photos but you don’t get a proper customer service.

Over $400.00 per night for a tiny 2-bedroom with equally tiny kitchenette is far too much to pay except for the view, so one assumes that how the owners came up with the exorbitant price. One bedroom has 2 'kid-size' twin beds (the guests feet were hanging over the edge) and one bedroom behind a Japanese-type screen, with a comfortable queen bed but not an inch of storage anywhere. One big towel per guest and 2 hand towels for 4 people....and nothing other than coffee packs, an old kettle and old toaster for arriving guests. How about supplying a basket of some fruit, a lovely loaf of fresh bread, some eggs, butter and milk so that guests don't have to get back in the car after they've just arrived? How about something other than the view of the beach and sound of the waves, to justify this hefty fee?

Seafarers is in a fabulous location about 3-4 km from the township & offers fabulous views of the ocean (100 mtrs. away). The rooms are very well fitted out & modern. Excellent bed, good kitchenette & nice bathroom. It is a nice place. However, at $670 for 2 nights (school holidays) it does not represent good value. My wife & I have stayed in accommodation all over Australia & have some experience & whilst this is nice, it is not worth $670. Buyer beware!

As other reviewers have noted, the hillside location of Seafarers Getaway with the alpacas roaming in the field are wonderful but that’s about where the wonderful ends and for the price paid, where the disappointment starts. We went for Christmas and due to Covid had self catered, planning to spend a relaxing few days sitting outside enjoying the views, reading, playing Scrabble and having evening drinks and barbecue dinners on the deck. Our dream of doing this was not realised as the outdoor chairs were bolted to the deck and were always in the shade and there was no table to eat at or even a small table to put our drinks on. The only place to eat was at the kitchen bench facing the soulless back wall of the apartment. As others have also said, the kitchen provisions were very basic, with only two plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, knives, forks etc. For the price we paid, as well as additional crockery and cutlery we would have expected some niceties such as platters, dip or snack bowls, etc. This lack of amenity and comfort of the fitout affected the overall enjoyment of our trip. Next time we are looking for a relaxing and comfortable getaway with ocean views we will be looking elsewhere.

We had a two night stay here in our Great ocean Road trip. We stayed in 10a last Thursday and Friday which was quite small but modern. The view out the window can only be described as a million dollar view as it was spectacular. There is a bbq area in the middle of the apartment blocks and was great to use. But that’s where the good positives end. The bed base had some kind of liquid stains down the side and the 2 chairs and footrest inside to sit on were covered n some kind of white hair from an animal or off some sort of clothing. There were dead flies along the wall and the worst bit was the bed. It was so uncomfortable and I mean uncomfortable. I actually spent the second half of the last night sleeping in the chair as I got over tossing and turning every hour from the wire frame or springs. It honestly felt like a $100 kids matress not designed for adults and I could still feel it the next day driving off. I usually say I would recommend where I stay or be back but this time it’s a big no from me.

The views are good but vary somewhat - guests cannot choose rooms within a particular price range. For what you get, this place is very expensive. We can do without a dishwasher, but decent sized quality crockery and cutlery would be welcome, and a table inside, rather than just a small kitchen bench, for when it is windy and rainy outside (quite often) is needed - even a folding one would do. Others have reviewed what is lacking at length in previous honest reviews, and we would agree that guests now seem to be treated as a bit of a bother.

Seafarers was located just out of town and with a great view of the beach. The weather wasn't ideal during our visit, but it was spectacular hearing the waves crash.
Well stocked for cooking etc and everything was clean and tidy.
A nice base for a couple of nights.
