Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately this was very disappointing. The apartments are advertised as serviced apartments but they quite simply are not. We booked a 1 bed studio apartment but got a really basic bedroom bathroom. No kitchenette, no dishwasher, not even the wifi or DVD advertised. The door didn't seal properly so we had wind noise all night, and the single full-width blind means we couldn't open the door with the blind shut, or leave the property without exposing everything in the room. Won't stay here again

The Apollo Apartments in Apollo Bay is a fantastic place to lay your head for the night. All of the apartments are fully self contained. Close to pubs, restaurants and shops and the beautiful Apollo Bay Beach across the road There is onsite parking available underneath the units. There is a lift if you have trouble using stairs. The staff never mentioned it though and just said where the stairs were. If you have issues using stairs this may not be the best place to stay if the lift was not available. Overall it was great value and a very nice and tidy apartment. You could easily base yourself here and do all of the Great Ocean Road touristy things.

There was no-one to greet us even though we have provided our arrival time, and the key was just left in an envelope in a box which anyone could have picked up. Disappointed with the size of the bed as the pictures on the website looked were of a king size bed. Were originally going to book a king room, but then the pictures on the website showed a king size bed. We were aLeo concerned about the security of our room as we didn’t know if the key for our room will also open the studio and vice versa due to the set up of accessing the rooms. One key opened an outer door to the studio and one bedroom accommodation and the same key opened the door to our one bedroom unit. No shower gel for the shower, just soap. Had to make the bed as the sheet was about 1 foot short of the bottom of the bed. No blanket and it was cold. The bed was a queen, not the king shown on the website. Photos showed a bottle of wine and 2 glasses with a comment enjoy a glass of wine - again found this very misleading. Spoke to someone as we left and said we were disappointed no one was around to greet us and she said everyone was out back, but we don’t believe there was anyone there. Also mentioned we were cold and she said there was a blanket and I said not, she kept saying there should be one and I said I had looked and couldn’t find one, so she was going to make sure there was one there.

Room Tip: The pictures on the website were misleading. Check for blankets if it’s a cold day, as we didn’t...

Really very basic accommodation. We had a studio apartment. The room was dark and overlooking a wicker fence. The tap didn’t work in the bath. Really cheap fittings. Anyone else staying can see into the room as they have to walk past your window at close proximity. We were disappointed overall. It was reasonably clean though. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

This was our second stay at The Apollo and funnily enough we stayed in the same apartment. The apartment is spacious and clean. We love the fact that we could have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Nice crisp linen and very comfortable beds. It’s in a great location. The check in and out procedure is contactless and easy and there is a good car park under the apartments. The cleaning staff are all very friendly people. Would highly recommend

These apartments are definitely a convenient stopping point along the Great Ocean Rd. The apartments are on the main road, but set back from the street and therefore quiet. Our apartment was spacious and well equipped. And it was a short stroll to all the shops and cafes. I have marked down the service because the whole time we were there I didn't see/experience any. Although we arrived mid-afternoon, our room keys were in a (unlocked) box by the front door along with about half a dozen others, and although we left mid-morning the keys were just left in the same (unlocked) box. Not sure what you'd do if you needed help or something wasn't quite right.

The Apollo's rooms are small but close to the beach and all the restaurants are just a short walk down the road. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom and shower are ample. The balcony is tiny and enclosed so don't expect any view from the balcony.

Tired room with no view, no elevator, grubby. In no way matches the promo photos. Parking underground with stairs up to apartments with ugly barriers front and rear. There are better choices for the same budget. The space is large, and there is a washer/dryer. Happy we were staying only one night.

I’m rating 3/5 because we thought this accommodation was very expensive for the basic room and avoidance of a reception service. We paid $200 for a basic room for one night, with no self catering facilities. Keys were left in envelopes for you to help yourself, although a pleasant lady did come out to help when we looked puzzled at the list stuck to the door. They had used my first name and not my surname. The room was 'tired'. There was very little storage space, although that was fine for one night. A kettle with tea and coffee was provided, but no milk or milk powder. The room was clean and the bed was large and very comfortable. The location was excellent.

Overall this stay was fairly poor. It provided us with a private sleeping space but it had some issues. Cleanliness was a problem for us, there was dirt smeared all over the floors, a rancid smell filled some areas of the apartment and it was dirty overall. All fittings and fixtures were damaged somewhat and parts of the wall were chipped or losing paint. It did provide a washing machine, but no drier. For the $400 a night price tag, it was unsatisfactory.
