Highlights: Pillows were fluffy, strong water pressure, friendliness of room service staff.
Lowlights: Room hasn't been upgraded for some time, purchases of appliances etc had seemingly been made for budget purposes not for quality. Nice view if the car spot wasn't directly outside the window. Accidentally left some items and when I went to get them from lost property they hadn't been kept (pyjamas, not worth anything to anyone else). Could hear neighbour's conversations.
I feel that the room's comfort level (average) was not reflected in the nightly rate.
I arrived about 4pm to find the reception unattended, with a sign suggesting I register in the bar. Having found someone, I was ushered back to reception to complete registration. The rooms are good, and the cost reasonable. The restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner is typical country pub food at reasonable price. You would have to find an alternate venue for breakfast, luckily ther e are nearby cafe's and bakeries that would fulfill this need. You also cannot check-out in normal fashion, as the place does not open until noon-(would be good if the web-site mentioned this!). This is all manageable of course, if foretold.
The room is a good size, nice and clean with a fantastic view of the water. There was great (and free) Wi-Fi and enough power points to charge our devices. There was a nice little fridge and a dining table so we could eat our take-away fish and chips.
It was everything I expected it to be in a budget hotel and would recommend a stay of a night or two.
Now unfortunately the egg had no flavour, the cheese had no flavour, the dressing was almost flavourless, the vegetables were the same. The only thing that had a tastie flavour were the croutons. I had a large 10 oz pot of lemon lime and bitters for $5 which I thought was good value and very tastie. But here comes the worst bit, the bill was $19 which makes the salad $14 which should have been $5 for the taste and quality supplied. Sorry I cannot recomend that meal at all.
TV reception was VERY poor, often disappearing after only a few minutes.
Nice view from the front. Close to things.
The man who checked me in had no sense of customer service at all and I felt like I was purely a transaction.
Bar - great range of local gins and whisky’s to select from.
Restaurant- pork roast was yummy so was the local garlic scallops and prawns.
Service was friendly and helpful, would recommend, room rate was great value.
Attended for lunch and were the first customers. Two of us had the roast pork (no crackling) which was tough and vegetables warm to cold. One had rissoles which were nice, hot mash and cold vegetables.
One of us had the seared scollops with prawns on rice with garlic cream sauce. What was served was prawns with a few scollops.
Service prompt however food a lot to be desired
