Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Umm not sure where to start...the check in was the most casual experience I have ever had in 40yrs of travel around the world. No I'd , no licence check nothing... just give your name and given the key 🔐. Room is dated and a bit run down with the odd strange stain on the couch.....tiles chipped and broken in the kitchen, freezer box in fridge won't shut due to excessive ice....a bit musky smelling in the rooms. The staff are friendly. If you are house proud at home maybe consider a different property .fabulous ocean view are really the highlight Here.

This is such a horrible experience that I have to warn all travelers to avoid. We are traveling as a family of 4 with 2 young girls and after watching the penguin tour ran by the official Bicheno Penguin Tour ( which was a great experience there) we came back to the “resort” to have a shower before bed. However, it turned out that we have to shower in FREEZING COLD water. THERE WERE NO HOT WATER in this so called resort. If the hotline would have worked (as it closes at 8:00pm) we can call for help and asked to change our rooms as we were already freezing from the tour back. But no… no one you can call to help you at all. The worst part is, the next morning when I made a complaint to the man at the reception, Roger, he was unapologetic at all. His reply was “people must have used up the hot water” sounds like it’s a completely normal thing that has happened to us. And when I said no one answered the call to help, he said “there would be nothing we can do about it anyway”. From this experience and his reply, you can understand their mentality of running this “resort”. It’s a motel at best. Don’t expect much and don’t even expect for the basics a normal hotel should have. P.S. we checked in the morning.. still no hot water

Location is great, close to the beach with all the ingredients for a better review. Sadly the accommodation let it down. With two rooms upstairs and no toilet upstairs the journey downstairs at night is dangerous, if that’s you don’t book the 2 bed apartment option. The bedrooms were clean and recently painted but missing side tables or lamps. The only light being a super bright fan light above the bed. Our room had a sliding door guaranteed to be noisy when used. The apartment was for 4 people but only had crockery for 2 or 3 people. Finally the shower was dangerous in that hot was not easily regulated by the cold, incredibly dated. As others have said pick a hotel in Bicheno this isn’t worth it, the penguin’s were on strike our visit!

This place is stunning, very nice rooms with all amenities. Wendy and her family are such down to earth people who welcome their guest with a big smile. The penguins love this place so much you can see them every night coming back to the resort for nap time. V was a wonderful host in the restaurant, and took everyone down to see the penguins after dinner. Definitely a place to put on your list to stay while visiting Tas

We stayed here a couple of nights on our tour around Tassie. The resort is in a very nice location beach front. We were in one of the top rooms which I recommend for the nice views. The rooms are getting a bit tired and are older but ok if you are not too fussy. Bed was good. The restaurant specialises in Korean food but does have other options and is ok. The penguin tour is free and ok. If you are serious about seeing lots of penguins you probably should pay for the professional tour group which has access to the beach.

This resort is difficult to rate, really ! On the positive side : very large apartments, some on 2 floors, nicely equipped. Laundry available for free. Comfortable shared space including lounge. Very close to the beach… and penguins are staying at night directly at the resort! Now the problems : as written in multiple reviews, the apartments are not clean - carpets are dirty, our plates had still some grease on them, dead insects around the windows… the free penguin tour was interesting but no access to the beach where apparently other groups are going. I really hope this place would invest to clean much better the rooms. The staff was very nice.

The location is pleasant, the staff helpful and the rooms well equipped as with much accommodation at Bicheno. We chose this one because it promised a penguin tour right on the property I was very much looking forward to seeing the penguins arrive on the beach and make their way to their burrows. However the “tour” consisted of a staff member with a torch directing it on the 2 or 3 penguins which happened to walk along the fence of the resort The real tour was an external one which resort guests were locked out of. We had no access to the beach or the boardwalk during the penguin re-entry. I was very disappointed
