Situated near the western extremity of Bicheno in a quiet area, it's only a short walk from Redbill Beach and a penguin watch site, but it's a 1.5km walk into the centre of Bicheno if you're that active. Our room was quite large but could have done with a bit more bench space for suitcases. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean and spacious. Oddly, no washers were supplied with the towels. Reception had no issue supplying them but seemed surprised by my request. Some of the power points were located in strange (inconvenient) places, and a couple more would have been handy. Carpets were in good condition and the room contained a very effective heater (no aircon). All the usual expectations (tea, coffee, sugar/sweeteners, jug, fridge, TV, radio) were met. Rooms were not cleaned during our 3 night stay (no big deal) and breakfast is no longer served (a Covid casualty, apparently). There is a small on-site laundry for guest use, if required. We weren't expecting The Ritz, and we got what we paid for, but I'd have no issues staying here again.

We stayed here for two nights whilst on a tour of Tasmania.

The check-in process was efficient upon arrival.

Our twin room and bathroom was well-kept. It was possible to get a good night of sleep.

Breakfast was left in our room for each morning, but was very simple (bread for toast and cereal) and wasn’t always fresh.

Overall, this is a decent enough base for exploring town and the local area.

Upon arrival reception was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and offer of a microwave. The motel was full when we stayed. Families seemed predominantly in the back cabins. The room we had was the smallest during our Tassie trip, again ok for a night. Not having a bedside table on my side was frustrating but we got by. My husband was disturbed by neighbours saying he could hear them sneeze (I wear earplugs), It didn’t seem far from the beach but it was cold and blustery when we stayed. It seemed clean enough and the bathroom was lovely, much nicer than expected.

We froze in a room that was 13 degrees warm and could not get warm with a miniature heater. It was around 4 degrees outside. When you left the room the electricity disappeared and then also the heat.
We slept with all our clothes on incl fleece jackets. As a duvet there was a thin nylon blanket and a sheet. The nylon duvet was cold and just the thought of how many people have slept with that one as there was no cover. That was really gross
Don’t offer this hotel to anyone in the winter if you don’t want to welcome guests with a decent level
We heard at a nearby restaurant that loads of customers complain over this hotel. That it’s freezing cold.
So don’t go there.

Nice and cozy (and rather cheap!) motel in a traditional-style house. The location not far from the beach and the town's center is very convenient. The rooms are spacious and clean, the lady at the reception (and her husband) was always very friendly and helpful. Some things didn't work 100 % (heating, light in the bathroom,...), but overall we had a pleasant stay there.

This place is not wheelchair friendly as advertised. No space in bedrooms and shower has no holders for soap, shampoo etc.
Beds were harder than any bed we stayed in on our tour.
Nice gardens, but parking is on a large slope for supposed wheelchair friendly room.
Avoid and drive to next town north or South depending on direction of travel.

Very average motel. It is clean. But the bed is not very comfortable. The TV is tiny and the tv reception, not sure if it is satellite, is terrible. WiFi is also pitiful. There is a toaster and kettle, but no microwave.
Compared to the other motels we have stayed in on this trip for the same money, this is very average. Wouldn't stay again.

We enjoyed our o/n stay at the Wintersun. It was very clean, quiet, and spacious. The bed was better than ok, pillows a bit thin though. There was a huge shower with more hot water coming out than required. The little garden out the front was nice to sit near too.

2-bedroom cabin was great and easily accommodated 4 adults. Convenient parking at the door plus plenty of parking for 2nd car nearby. Comfortable beds, very clean and nicely provisioned unit with ample crockery and cutlery plus ample cooking utensils. Friendly staff and very accommodating. Delightful garden, and very reasonable rates. We would stay there again.
