Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at the caravan site. Definitely overpriced. Paid $80 for a powered site for 2 adult and 1 child. Need to pay $1 for shower, and there is not kitchen facility to use (maybe there was previously but it was closed as no one maintained it). There is a laundry room.

The takeaway store was closed and the owner was not around when we arrived and also not contactable. It had a sign that says change of ownership. Eventually when we managed to message her, she told us to park anywhere we like. Someone else then came and said we parked at their lot.

The only consolation for this place is that it is within walking distance from the blowhole, and groceries.

The maintenance crew was helpful to change coins for us so that we can shower. Even the cheaper caravan sites in Tasmania had communal kitchen facilities.

Try somewhere else before considering this place.

Stayed in a cabin, 2 adults 1 teen. My expectations were not high but this was the worst place I have stayed. Desperately needs an update, the old cabin is fitted with saggy couch, lumpy bed, a not working effectively electric hot plate and poorly functioning AC - it was hot in there!
Everything tired & worn. Not much room for 3, a larger family would find it difficult and don’t even bother trying to cook in there, no bench space and the hot plate only moderately working. Poor utensils & cookware.
After 2 sleepless nights, tossing & turning in the uncomfortable bed (couldn’t move to the couch as it sags and would be worse) lots of noise, people driving past arriving and leaving in the middle of the night (ok I don’t expect a complete sound proof experience in a caravan park cabin but it was unbelievable how much traffic came through.) Plus night outside lights shining all night.
we decided to leave. Manager refused a refund for the last night we decided not to stay and had no interest or care about our experience - didn’t even want to know why. There were empt cabins so they hadn’t turned others away for our booking.
Wish I’d read other reviews before booking, lesson learnt!
I’ve never left a booking early before, this really was the worst.
Awful!

I would strongly advise to always read reviews and/or TripAdvisor before booking & staying anywhere especially regarding this caravan park. A group of us were excited to spend Australia Day long weekend together. We booked in Octover 2017. This park wasn't our first choice but all the others were booked out & this one could accomodate our 6 vans, we now know why as the park was never full. The owner was extremely rude & moved around the small park watching and waiting to bother us with trivial demand's. From our van being parked the wrong way to we couldn't have swags for the kids. What does it matter if you pay for your site( being truthful of the number of adults & children) where we put the swag within our site, there was never a safety issue for where the swags were placed. None of the sites are clearly marked. One of our friends refused to set up because of his rudeness & they left the park....he kniws he was in the wrong here......sadly our group was then split up. Our friends moved to another place. It wasn't just our group he bothered... we found out he had demands on other people staying there as well. I want to point out a positive and that is the ladies that work for this man. They were lovely & kind and their service in the shop was outstanding.
So people....until this place has new owners I wouldn't stay here ever again. Buy take away food or groceries in the shop as the service is great but the service from the owner is below anything I've known. We would have left after the first night if we would have got a refund. Our friends are still waiting. Having come from Stanley Caravan park at Christmas to this place was just an eye opener so now we read TripAdvisor and we will now leave reviews so pepole can read thoughts & experiences of others. I know the owner will have some comeback reply to this but all I can say is you will read how unprofessional his reply will be. But this is not the only review hes received. Thanks for reading and happy caravaning everyone. 😊

I see there are so many bad reviews here. We stayed here before reading these reviews, and to be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. However, we didn't stay in a cabin. The site itself was fine. The showers were clean enough for a public shower and the toilets were the same. Sadly yes, you have to pay $1 for a shower. There should really be a money changing machine if you want to charge people as their shop is not open too early or late. We had to go to the bakery to get some change. I washed myself super fast as I was concerned the time would go by too quickly (and the money box is outside the shower so you would have to risk being seen naked or wrap a towel around your possibly soapy body) but I ended up washing myself twice, washing my hair and conditioning it, then brushing my teeth as I had time left over. So overall $1 was enough for a shower as long as you're not dilly dallying. There was no timer so you have no idea when the shower will just stop though.

The real advantage for this place is the location. It was a 5 minute walk for us to get to the penguin tour. And all the shops are a 5 min walk away.

Yes, this is my first review so I may lack some street cred but this would have to be one of the worst places I have stayed. We were late booking and we’re just pleased to secure accommodation in one of the ‘deluxe’ cabins. There weren’t interior photo’s and I now know why. Whilst it was derelict, I wouldn’t have minded if it was clean and was well equipped. However this wasn’t entirely the case. Fortunately the towels and linen were clean otherwise that would have been a complete deal-breaker. After reading through the quirky list of ‘rules’ we thought all was good so headed out to explore without closer inspection. Bad move. Later we made our delightful discoveries. The urine over the sides and front of the toilet bowl looked like it had been there for some time and the brown dried up stuff in the bottom of the fridge looked like it had also taken up residence some time ago. I couldn’t identify the mysterious smell that greeted me when I opened the microwave but it didn’t stimulate the appetite that’s for sure. As an added bonus, the mugs and glasses were stuck to the cupboard requiring boiling water to clean and sterilize them. The kitchen sponge had seen better days and heaven knows how long it had been in residence. No, there were no spares or extra bin liners. Then there were the ants through the kitchen. There was a small twitch developing in my left eye at that point. Then I discovered that there was insufficient cutlery and smaller plates for the four of us and there was minimal cooking implements and no serving bowls etc. Had the cabin been at capacity, we would have been in strife as there was insufficient seating for more than 4 on the metal outdoor chairs. After all these discoveries and no luck in seeking redress as it was out of office hours, we discovered that the main bed had a bottom sheet and a thin bedspread-no other linen. Nice! We managed to stretch out a spare single top sheet and single blanket to help. Thankfully it wasn’t winter but still quite cold. Needless to say we ate out a lot which wasn’t what we had in mind and spent minimal time there. A lot of these issues could be resolved with a little care and minimal outlay. So my recommendation is don’t bother wasting your money unless a lot changes.

Paid $38 for a tent site for one night. When we enquired about camping and checked in, we were not told that you need $1 coins to have a hot shower. Although I think it is pretty cheeky to charge extra for showers after already charging a lot for a piece of grass compared to other caravan parks, the worst part was that we were not told about it beforehand. I only realised that there was no hot water at the shower block next to the tent sites when I was already standing under the shower naked. Then I walked to the main abolution block and realised that I needed coins, by which time the shop was closed and I couldn't get any change. It's just not right to treat customers like this, very disappointed!

Booked and paid in full for 4 nights and left on the first night. RUDE , RUDE, RUDE.
Thought our entire family weekend away had been ruined but just around the road we found we where welcomed and treated so well and had a beautiful 4 days in bicheno.
I’m sure the owners will put some long winded explanation on here of there version of what happened.
All I can say there was no reasoning with the man nor would he listen to us. Yes we did arrive at the park later than expected due to UNFORSEEN circumstances . Not that we where given an opportunity to explain this.
People where still up in the park though and I had rung ahead earlier in the night to find out our site number so we didn’t need to disturb park owners. It was 10.10pm we arrived. He came down to us at 10.25 just as we where about to get set up and started abusing us straight away . When we tried to explain he just said GET OUT. Our 3 children at 10.25 at night where most upset.
We also where told we never told him we had a van. I can reassure people that every caravan park we have stayed in we have said we have a van and what size it is on booking ,due to the size of our van.
If someone failed to write it down in there notes on booking that’s there fault. Not that he would listen to that either.
I also asked on full payment to be emailed a confirmation email of all details of our booking ,but that never happened either. So we had no way of proving what we had booked for or anything. We won’t be letting this happen again!!!!
I will say, the lady was very polite but the gentleman was just a rude pig of a man.
We have been promised a full refund but I will keep you posted if we get it or not though.

Booked on line expecting a comfortable cabin. How wrong was I. Old, water stained walls and ceilings. Dirty plates. Single blanket for a double bed. The blanket was too old even to give to the op shop. Oven trays dirty and greasy......how much more. Did have nice fluffy towels. Camping area and kitchen appeared ok. I would not recommend this to anyone. The price was out of proportion for the quality. Quality motel, price for a really poor cabin experience.

Worst campsite of our trip so far. Broken shower heads, paid for hot water but only cold, apparently ran out of hot, bathrooms dirty, needs maintenance owners foreign and don’t care but keep a fancy Porsche in the garage. Not cheap either. Avoid - unless you have no choice!

Unfortuneately not the quality for the price paid today.
Two different types of fish with one type cooked less than the other and processed calamari rings
Potato cakes could of been cooked a little more
Not sure if this is a new venture but you obviously need to do your homework with products abd if you run short of products to maybe explain that to a customer
Maybe next the quality might be lifted
