Detailed Reviews
If you want a budget friendly motel that is clean and has great customer service then this is the place for you. Bed, sofas and tv are new and 5 star quality (the tv is HUGE and the bed is super comfy) but the rest of the furniture is outdated and little repairs needed here and there. My only concerns were the spa - so outdated we weren’t comfortable using it; and the front door only had a domestic chain lock, not electronic. But I would still stay here again. It was sooo quiet and the staff were lovely! We also enjoyed watching the little blue wrens playing right outside our door!

We stayed here for one night whilst on a road trip. We had a spa room which was spacious, quiet and peaceful. It also had a small patio area. Very good after a long day driving. The main room was airy and felt homely and comfortable.
Unfortunately the bathroom was a bit of a letdown. It was large but the units were cheap and in serious need of replacement. Even the spa bath had cracks in the top and was only partially working. This was a shame because with a bit of investment it could be made very nice.
All the staff were welcoming and friendly both on arrival and in the restaurant. Having a decent on-site restaurant is a big plus and the food and service were good. The chef is Indonesian so there were some interesting Asian dishes mixed into the usual steaks and standard fare. I had the Nasi Goreng and it was excellent.
I would definitely stay again if I was back that way.

Friendly atmosphere. Staff are always engaging with their guests. Makes you feel comfortable.
Rooms & Toilet were reasonably clean.
Linens, room & toilet fittings needs replacement as they are dated.
Meals & drinks at restaurant was good..

Location is good. It provides a quite night's sleep. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. We arrived to be told that the 2 rooms on our booking were not ready. (we arrived 1.5 hours after the 2pm check in time) We were greeted by a lady who gave me a rude look when I asked there hadn't been any communication to advise that the rooms weren't quite ready at 2pm. Not being people at all that like to cause any issues, we'd have been completely fine with this and the communication if this had happened. So we (a group of 7) all crammed into the 1 family room that was ready, to get organised for our afternoon at the swimming lake. My husband spoke to Management to voice his dissatisfaction of the lack of communication and was promised a discount in our accommodation charges to compensate for the inconvenience. This was after Management telling him that he could find somewhere else in Naracoorte to stay if he wanted to! We finally received notification over 2 hours after room the room was supposed to be ready, to say it was ready. Get into our room only to find there were only 2 towels for a room that was booked for 3-4 people so back to reception again to ask for additional towels! We paid for a family room which considered of a double bed and 2 single sofa beds. The pictures on the websites are not to scale. They have been taken with the wide lenses to make the room seem much bigger than it is - so families of 4 beware! There was not enough room for the 2 single sofa beds to be out and set up at the same time. They hit one another and didn't fit flat! I had to move furniture around to get them to fit, which meant we had no space to move freely in the room. When I went to check out, I asked about the discount that was promised to my husband, but I was rudely told 'there will be no discount because you took the bottle of wine we offered you and because your husband is not a nice man'! The receptionist then proceeded to talk over the top of me in front of other guests when I explained that the service we had received was beyond disappointing. She then cut me off by handing me my receipt and hoped that we had enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed our stay in Naracoorte and all it has to offer but will not return to William MacIntosh Motor Lodge again. The staff need a good lesson in what constitutes good customer service. I am still absolutely flabbergasted that the Receptionist had the nerve to tell a customer that her husband is 'not a nice person'.

On the 13th of may 2022 I booked a deal at the Macintosh through SA Shorts which was for two nights for $326 dollars including daily breakfast and entry to fossil centre in Naracoote, and upgraded for an extra night for a total of $475 an increase of $149 that seemed to be a fair price. On arrival at the Macintosh the manageress was not aware of the deal as per SA shorts but she would follow it up with the owner, later that evening we were contacted by the owner who was not happy with the deal arranged by SA Shorts but would honor breakfast for the next morniong and contact SA Shorts after asking us for copies of our deal that we downloaded at the time of booking, which is what we thought we had purchased.
We were then told that we had been booked for three nights only nothing else, no breafast or entry to wonabi fossil centre. At this stage we were feeling ripped off by
SA Shorts and the Macintosh, we unhappily accepted the situation , but on the second day of our stay the manageress came to advise that they would honor the first breakfast but other additional would have to be paid for. No other breakfast was ordered or consumed by us, finally the last straw was when we had left and driving away when we received a call on the mobile to advise us that we had not paid for the so called honored breakfast, which we explained in (not happy Jan) tone. the room was okay but not classed what was shown on their websight, also the prices are anywhere from $112 for the night right up to $158 dollars that I was ripped off and won't use SA Shorts or come back again or pass any good reference of the MACINTOSH . This break was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary which was paid for by a win of a $500.dollar voucher. The town"s locals including the golfers from the course couldnt have been any frriendlier or helpfull, so overall the township is lovely and well worth the visit.

Room was clean and comfortable. We had a good nights sleep and a good breakfast . Breakfast was held up a little due to a party of 25 that were in just ahead of us so ours was discounted. We were on our way by 8:30 and would recommend this place to anyone passing through Naracoorte.

Surprise package here - magnificent family room that had two bedrooms
Excellent service and great restaurant - you don't have to leave.
In fact v=everything on offer
Would be perfect if it had a pool but on lovely grounds anyway. Adding some toiletries would also be useful

We stopped over on a tour from Melbourne to Adelaide and what a great place! We had a warm welcome and were allocated a good sized and lovely room with all amenities. The lodge has a good bar and restaurant with nothing appearing too much trouble for the staff. We loved the food in the restaurant and could have chosen any one of the dishes on the menu. On leaving we had a self service breakfast which was equally good. We thoroughly recommend the Lodge to travellers and feel confident they too would enjoy the service, warm welcome and friendly staff that we experienced. Well done - and by the way what great muffins!

We love the William Macintosh Motor lodge in Naracoorte. After several visits we can confirm that it is one of the most well managed, comprehensive and delightfully located motels in the South East of SA. Above all else is the excellent Highlander Restaurant which offers quality dining in a relaxed environment. Great after a long day's travel. The staff and management are always helpful. We were particularly appreciative of special assistance provided for us following major vehicle problems. Rooms have recently been renovated and offer comfortable and quiet facilities. The rural and garden setting well away from highway traffic ensures a quiet night. We really enjoyed the live country music in the Highlander on Saturday night. Overall, highly recommended!

We were in town for only two nights, and our accommodation was great. A little dated it may be, but extremely clean and adequate for our needs, We found the staff/owners most welcoming and very attentive. We had breakfast on our departure day which was sublime and made us wish we had tried the evening meal the night before. The offerings for breakfast was fantastic. If was to make a suggestion, it would be to include some small plates and cutlery to enable use of the toaster and microwave supplied in the room, either that or remove the appliances. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
